You can not be sure of this though...
maybe for the first little bit there will only be Minecraft default servers not Bukkit
BUT on the other hand Bukkit is now kind of working with Minecraft so hint hint nudge nudge something might happen.

If it's anything like how other games are done, your Xbox is the Server. You can make it friends only or Invite only.
The Community
Not to generalize, but The PC community is a bunch of console hating, superiority complex, biased people. You would only think console people are this way if these are the only people you have run into. I have a friends list of over 40 people who are nothing like what you described.
Joining Servers
Again, you wont need a consoles IP (which is extremely easy to do) because they will probably make a server list like the one on MC.net. And you will most likely be able to make it friends or invite only, just like other games do.
How about we all stop making generalizations about a game that isn't even out and wont be coming out for at least another few months.
This right here is what i was thinking right as i was reading the post. You stole the words right out of my mouth.
And mods will be looked at. Maybe they put the best mods in a DLC. Who knows?
I think we should consider the fact that mods don't just add on to the game; they actually modify the game's files. It could be a little risky since you don't have direct control over the files on the Xbox. Incompatibility is also an issue. If they plan on adding a vast array of mods onto XBL, they're going to have to make sure they are all compatible with each other and sometimes it just can't happen.
Also consider the fact that permission is required from mod creators, and if they want to have these mod packs charged, also have to give a portion to the mod creators. They may find another way to do it, but right now porting existing mods sounds too problematic to do.
And yes, eventually the Xbox version will catch up to the PC version in terms of updates, but it still has disadvantages to the PC version. I'm not saying that off of my elitism, it's a fact. Player capacity on servers (8 players vs...well, I've seen a 200-player server before), free to join any server they have the IP to instead of only friends' servers, proper support of mods, texture packs, skins, etc.
I apologize if that makes me sound like an elitist, but those are things currently only possible on the PC that will either take a while to make it to the Xbox version or won't be considered at all.
All of you guys dont have to worry about greifers, because at its release, you will only be able to play online by inviting your friends. This will make it so you dont really get grieved because well, duh, they're your friend. Well I hope I cleared up some things:)

No Bukkit or other server add-ons. A greifer's paridise.
- The community
Not to generalize but the XBox comunity is a group of people who go into a coma if they spend five minutes not killing somone in a video game. These people are very apt to be greifers. (Keep in mind I own an XBox and live, so i've seen it firsthand)
- Joining servers
It's a pain to find your XBox's IP (And alot of XBox'ers won't know how to do it) OR the server you join will be random. Also not a very good idea.
ONLY your friend list will be able to join IF you invite them.. No worries!
Minecraft for Xbox 360 will have multiplayer with people on your friends list only so that you won't get greifed (even though your friends most likely WILL grief you)
Its a shame that its friends only because i only add people i socialize with and none of those friends would buy minecraft because 'it looks wierd'. Speaking for myself i would never grief anyone but sadly there are those who like to grief for no reason. This precaution i believe is a little extreme but maybe it will change... who knows.

(i have not read the full topic just the op)

One thing that fixes all your problems. You can only join friends servers. And the IP link thing with the xbox your talking about is already an in game thing. You just need the Person your joining to be on your friends list. I also saw something about mods... There will be no mods because xbox is a closed system.
for people on the xbox that love fps theres a simple way to help stop griefers....just put in an fps game....DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Obviously you have played on xbox live for 5 minutes. There are more games than CoD and Battlefield

You Invite friends to games and you don't need to know the I.P.
there is over a couple million people looking at this game. it will be fun for me and my friends none of which need to greif. I just want to play it period, my pc dosent run it or I'd have it. the only thing I can't wait for more then just playing it, would be when it's 100% playable with pc or ps3 aswell or whatever nentendo has whatever it might cross platform. I hate to wait even more but atleast there's a release date.

www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1089119-xbox-live-friends/ You could try and find quality people here.
Are you in Creative mode? press start and press A on the Survival option. I would build magnificent world so me and my friend could adventure.
