Not to generalize but the XBox comunity is a group of people who go into a coma if they spend five minutes not killing somone in a video game. These people are very apt to be greifers. (Keep in mind I own an XBox and live, so i've seen it firsthand)
- Joining servers
It's a pain to find your XBox's IP (And alot of XBox'ers won't know how to do it) OR the server you join will be random. Also not a very good idea.
Uh you know that hosted games will allow only up to 8 people at a time, right? Hosted games aren't going to be massive pvp gank fests.
Also, I'm pretty sure I read that the host has the power to kick/ban players from their server, so people will pretty much have to play nice unless they are in a pvp host.
Last time I checked the Xbox Live Arcade only supports the XNA Framework with C#. Which means that modding will be impossible without some sort of official api. Even then, it won't be able to be written in the same way because purely compiled code cannot be edited in the same way that Java can. (You can't just drop files in C++ or C# programs like you can with java.) Its really complicated, and I am willing to explain why if need be, but I'm sure most of you aren't interested in the reasons behind it. So mods are infinitely improbable, I suppose it could happen, but if it did its going to take some real wits to make it happen.
Nextly, how would we backup and restore worlds on the console servers? I would use a PC server so it isn't a huge deal to me but I still would like to know how. Obviously its not going to be just drop in a flash drive and copy it off / on because of the whole exploiting and installing soft mods issue. (Someone would probably find a way to if it were open.) Just some food for thought before everyone starts getting their jimmies rustled over mods and included features.

I dough that you would need an ip number for it, hence, your friends list *AKA, Inviting*
To the OP Its super easy to find your ip and i dont thinj you do have xbl bc you have no idea how it works and i enjoy almost every game type on my xbox from cod/bf3 to total miner which i play on peacefll at least half te time

Solution 1 Only Invite People U know
Solution 2 It will have a list of servers Like Dungeon Defenders or other xbox ripoff minecrafts
This damned topic needs to be closed. It's a bunch of closed-minded PC elitists who are butthurt thats its coming to xbox that have never EVER touched a console and are assuming all kinds of **** they don't know. Like the original post.... i mean seriously? every single thing stated in that is wrong and FORTY-NINE people upped it???? Are. You. ****ing. Serious. This is why nobody likes PC gamers except PC gamers.
So apparently you think the Xbox version will support player-created server plugins, even though true, dedicated servers as fully-equipped as PC servers can't be made possible on the Xbox without any complications...
I'm not fond of OP generalizing the Xbox community, either, but his other statements are true. Obviously you have NEVER played a PC game online, or else you would know why it would be a much bigger pain in the ass to implement the exact same server system on the PC into the Xbox version. So much has to be done with external software and plugins, along with the problems of hosting it on the system and giving out the IP address to people. What I think they are doing with multiplayer on the Xbox version is setting up games hosted on Mojang's servers, and not in direct control of the player setting the game up. They can't customize it to their liking, all they can do is invite friends and only can use basic privileges, like kicking and muting. That has been the standard setup for multiplayer games that allow private matches.
And how are we butthurt about it coming to the Xbox? Most of us don't care, and glad that Mojang is expanding the game. Look at yourself assuming the PC gaming community are all elitists. If you actually looked at the right people, you would find that most of us don't mind it and are open to expansion of the game's market. I guess that many of the posters on this thread are just plain stupid, but don't generalize PC gamers because of them.
The reason why only PC gamers support each other's statements is because many console gamers like you are spitting out ******** and obviously not reading statements the right way, and giving the console community a bad name, when in fact the majority of them are kind and understanding. You never stated any evidence on why the OP's statements were false, and instead hopped on the "PC are elitists" bandwagon because you can't accept facts. Well, OP's statements are true; you can't host dedicated servers on your Xbox version and have it fully customized with plugins because the Xbox can't allow external software on there that allows those plugins, Giving out IP's the old fashioned way would be a pain, instead of just CTRL+C. It may only be a few steps more, but it would still take longer than a simple keyboard shortcut. And judging by your reaction and stereotyping of the PC gaming community, the OP's statement about the console community being full of idiots just became partly true. Do your damn research before making statements about a subject.
P.S. I own a PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and of course a PC. So don't think that I don't know my ****, because I have used all of them quite a bit and know their capabilities.

Only greifer's that will exist on your server are the only wants on your Xbox friends list, or those sitting right next to you in the living room. Only up to 8 players can play during an Xbox session, and there will be no Xbox/Computer server interaction at launch.

Not true, but that's your opinion. PC has just as many griefers and "people who go into a coma if they spend five minutes not killing somone". Remember...there are also FPSs that are played on the PC (CoD/Battlefield/Left4Dead [not sure if you're consider that one...]) If you're that worried about these type of people, just hope none of them are your friends on your Xbox list.

Your Xbox IP will not be needed, nor will you be able to join a random server.

A few other things to make note of.
Mods will not be available at launch.
Your skins will not be avaialable at launch.
Texture Packs will not be available at launch.
Jeb is working on a way to implement all three into the XBLA version of Minecraft.
We will be able to edit our Minecraft skins on our Xbox, just not right away.

I like how you say "Not to generalize" and then completely generalize. Same thing as "No offense but..." LOL.
Anyway, I'm also an avid gamer on my 360, and while the 360 does have it's fair share of dumbasses, the same can be said for any platform. What matters is having friends on 360 that aren't dumbasses and won't grief your ****.
As far as servers, have you ever heard of DNS servers? Either way, initially I believe Minecraft will use an automated host-client method for connecting players, so it's a nil issue.
Edit: Also, what makes you so sure the game won't have some type of admin ruleset to deal with griefers? It would be a simple feature to implement as well as clearly being an expected issue considering how griefing has gone on within Minecraft previously.
Can anyone please confirm the FPS? Help most appreciated.
Thanks
If you mean "frames per second", then it's not confirmed at what rate it will run at, but most console games are locked at either 30 FPS or 60 FPS. Otherwise, there isn't anything confirmed about the technical information.
Not true. The monitor/TV has nothing to do with the FPS of a game. Note that refresh rate is different from frames per second, if that's what you mean by the TV.
I couldn't care less about not having bukkit for servers. Bukkit is terrible and ruins multiplayer. Sure, without it you have to fight griefers but it's way better than being on a server that runs like a Communist Government.

Back on topic, I think 4j will find a way around these problems
Also, here is an awesome suggestion I had: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1745550-biome-effects/

Well, in terms of gameplay obviously it's preference, but in terms of features he is right.
