I play xbox all the time and i have never griefed on a server yet. and I don't really care for killing people 24/7 in games, but I do like cod game's for that :smile.gif:

I think of Christmas as a happy time, It's the only time of the year when every man and woman sees each other as equals. Even if it hasn't put any gold or silver in my pockets I say it has done me good and will do me good and there for I say god bless it! ~Scrooge's Nephew.
No i Think That They Will put Password Protect. Invite Only (Whitelist). Or Public Servers Thumnbs Up For The First One Password Protect Meaning People ONLY YOU KNOW
1. There should Be PUBLIC PVP SERVERS? 2. MOB ARENA SERVERS 3. Creative
I think the servers will end up having Bukkit, like being able to make the server online and then transfer it to XBL.
As for the server IP, maybe it will be a lust. Like you could name the serverand then people could search the name or browse. Also a whitelist or passwprd would be a good thing.
As for the FPS problem and having to kill everyone, there is 2 reasons why this might not happen:
1. They probably wont want to buy Minecraft anyway
2. There is PVP
I think the XBl version is gonna be good, but not as good as PC
first off the servers will not use ips, just like any other game on consoles you will just join a multiplayer session, second of course no bukkit and stuff but i doubt there will be griefers because of no mass servers just individual sessions, so please before you post stuff like this do a tinybit of research!
(i was at minecon, and asked :tongue.gif:)
*edit* also unless someone knows how to write in c+ they arent going to create anymods AT ALL as the new minecraft on xbox will not use java
Topic owner, get deaded.
your facts are wrong. Griefers wont greif because you can just host a private game for you and your friends
btw December 31st - release date
- Hosting/Server add-ons
No Bukkit or other server add-ons. A greifer's paridise.
- The community
Not to generalize but the XBox comunity is a group of people who go into a coma if they spend five minutes not killing somone in a video game. These people are very apt to be greifers. (Keep in mind I own an XBox and live, so i've seen it firsthand)
- Joining servers
It's a pain to find your XBox's IP (And alot of XBox'ers won't know how to do it) OR the server you join will be random. Also not a very good idea.
The server hosting is not a problem, just take a look at how total miner did it, you host a game and people join, no ip setting up or all that nonsense. along with griefing total miner tackled this problem well with having the host turning certain priviliges on and off, so it it shouldnt be hard for minecraft either

There will likely be some way to stop griefers. If not, then it's no big deal. It happens in a lot of games but nobody makes a big deal out of it except in Minecraft. Also, I don't know about you guys but I would never let a stranger join my world. Everybody on my friends list are either my friends IRL or mature gamers I met online.
No, you are completely wrong here. This is just a stereotype. There are just as many immature people on the PC/PS3 as there are on the Xbox. Why would hardware determine someones maturity?
I really doubt we will be able to play with PC gamers from our xbox but if we can, there will be an easier way to connect that needing to find an IP address.

You have a good reason, but im a xbox player, and well, i dont always need to kill =P

I dont always need to kill, yeah its fun but not playing it wont cause people to get comas. PC's seriously know nothing about xbox.
I hear its only 2-4 player online with live but they could change and I do hope they do.
That'd be a really dumb decision that would drive users to play the PC version of the game. If it's cross-plat compat, how are you going to join a server with 256 slots when the game, per se, only allows 4 connections?
I doubt it'll be that bad, if its like pocket edition servers, but worldwide it should be good.
I agree about the obsessed FPS Xbox fans <.<
And they will most likely have mods.
but the xbox menu says its not multiplayer?
and xbox isn't the easiest of things to mod so there will be few.
One thing that I am concerned about are the technical difficulties that may arise - the XBOX 360 has only 512MB of RAM (main RAM and video memory shared). Let's admit that Minecraft, if played on bigger rendering distances consumes a s**tload of resoures, because the programming isn't really ingenious - it is a game based on Java and written in a pretty much simplistic manner. Textures etc. are loaded into memory without regard if they are exposed to the player or not. These are whole CHUNKS to be held in the memory at a time, and I'm afraid the 360 will not handle it properly. The end result may be that we will be left wither with a resource hog or a stripped-down version of minecraft, unless optimization will be done. Time will tell :smile.gif:
If the 360 can run games like Skyrim, I don't think it will have trouble with Minecraft.

For one it wont be in Java and never doubt the capabilities of and Xbox 360 look at the kind of games it can run. Minecraft wont be a problem.
It is THE SAME GAME!, not the crappy mobile classic version with nothing in it, the way they make the xbox version: redo EVERYTHING in PC Minecraft so it works exactly the same in Xbox version.
the way they make mobile version: remake classic mode for the mobile but get rid of everything that could make the device explode
False.

I see no problem at all.... =3
*OP goes on to generalize*
This thread is full of fail.
Only play with people you trust. Simple as that.

False.
