Not to generalize but the XBox comunity is a group of people who go into a coma if they spend five minutes not killing somone in a video game. These people are very apt to be greifers. (Keep in mind I own an XBox and live, so i've seen it firsthand)
- Joining servers
It's a pain to find your XBox's IP (And alot of XBox'ers won't know how to do it) OR the server you join will be random. Also not a very good idea.
I doubt it'll be that bad, if its like pocket edition servers, but worldwide it should be good.
I agree about the obsessed FPS Xbox fans <.<
And they will most likely have mods.
I thought Microsoft already confirmed that Minecraft 360 would be cross platform compatible with Minecraft PC? Or did I just read a rumor about that? Either way, if it was true, that would mean you could connect to Bukkit servers with all their anti-griefing plugins, so...We'll have to see how it works. And also, if it is on the Xbox, you can probably host a private server over Live and set it so that only friends that you invite can join.
Or maybe there will be a server list. I don't know.
The joining part could just be like joining any other game, friends only to the griefers. If you need to ban someone you could just remove them from your friends list

If it's anything like how other games are done, your Xbox is the Server. You can make it friends only or Invite only.
The Community
Not to generalize, but The PC community is a bunch of console hating, superiority complex, biased people. You would only think console people are this way if these are the only people you have run into. I have a friends list of over 40 people who are nothing like what you described.
Joining Servers
Again, you wont need a consoles IP (which is extremely easy to do) because they will probably make a server list like the one on MC.net. And you will most likely be able to make it friends or invite only, just like other games do.
How about we all stop making generalizations about a game that isn't even out and wont be coming out for at least another few months.
If I may assume so, I thought that being such a large release, it would be tied into Xbox Live, this would allow people to servers and invite people with ease. As for griefers, I also play Xbox live, and the only way I can see of avoiding the community is private servers.
Well its not like you will be playing with random people, now will you?
I personally will only be playing with my friends on a private server.
And there's no X-ray texture packs, lol.
- Hosting/Server add-ons
They will probably implement something like in Total Miner. Allowing people to set what they want others to be able to do.
- The community
The Minecraft community is like this as well but most games will be private (or atleast mine will) so these griefers cannot join.
- Joining servers
You would not host servers, you would join players games. They invite you in and there is no need to find your IP. And If it wasn't like this there should be a "server list" type thing.

Will there be texture packs? And I have another question. If people join some public servers(if there are any) on the x-box, and they don't have a mic, will there be like an option to write like the messaging system on x-box live.(Just wondering, I have a mic O.O)
I would never play with anyone I don't know anyway, so griefing is out of the question unless one of my comrades decide to do it :tongue.gif:. And I agree with McAngus on the community side, PC gamers can be just as obnoxious as stereotypical console peeps.

There will probably be some form of whitelist or it is completely invite-only, I highly doubt they would make all servers permanently public.

We don't know how it is going to work at all. It might be like other xbox games where you just go to the menu and invite them from your friend / recent players list.

First off, you seem to be a little generalizing, just because someone plays console games, doesnt mean those games are always shooters. And as for griefers, thats a person's own problem, not server add on. As for the server joining I must agree though, that is a good point.

I don't even think you'll need your IP. I think it will use the invite system like every single other Xbox title out there.

I see flaws with your whole entire statement. Sure there would be no mods or anything like that, but what fun is modding Xbox servers? It might provoke others to mod Xbox servers on other games, causing every Xbox server to become unsafe. Also, why would FPS loving idiots even think about buying MineCraft? Guess you didn't think much there. And lastly, joining servers would be easy, you'd get a server list like in BattleField 3, or Team Fortress 2, and there would be an option to host a server. It would probably be easier to host and play on servers than on PC. Your argument is now invalid. Enough said.

1 and 3: Do you have any clue how multiplayer servers work? You seem to assume that it will use an ad-hoc system or that the servers will be on XBox consoles. The only multi-player mod that will not work for the XBox version is Spout and not many servers make full use of spout anyway.
2: You also seem to assume that nobody who has an XBox and will play the XBox version already play Minecraft on the PC. I just so happen to play Halo and Minecraft and I have master sniping, melee, and good conduct while playing Minecraft online. I am the 99%.

Why not? You can "host" servers in TF2, why not MineCraft Xbox live? Sure it wouldn't be the same as hosting a PC server, but it is similar.
