Hello, I have recently come back to Minecraft after about 2 years of not having time to do any gaming at all. There is a survival world that my nephew and I started in 2013 on the PS3, and it was special from the beginning because it was only a small world but it had spawned 5 villages. We called it Testificate City with the goal of joining all the villages into one big city. We worked on it for four years and brought it over to the PS4 and expanded the world to medium when the savannah etc biomes updated and we will probably expand again to the largest world soon. We have melded 4 of the villages by building between them and encouraging villagers to move into homes outside their original village. All the villages are fenced and well lit so villagers don't wander off and get lost in caves etc. The 5th village is too far away but we are building towards it.
So here is where I need help. I fear we are going to lose all the villagers now, We knew they spawned according to door counts 2 years previously and our villages filled up pretty quickly and golems proliferated too. Is there a good tutorial about what to do to keep them? Should I make a huge dorm in each village with hundreds of beds? Does each villager need their own workstation? If there is a good thread that goes through how to save villagers please leave a link. The PS4 updated automatically so it might already be too late. I don't want to lose this world or have to start again because it is the only world we have left that has a vanilla old school flavour, at least in the centre and then as you travel out the update spawns can be seen like a history lesson.
I have a sheep farm and we'll get on to the beds asap. Thanks for your reply. Also people talk about building walls 2 blocks high, does that mean villagers can jump over fences? Will ilvillagers spawn near my villages or will they only appear when I expand the world and explore further? I mean what is the chance my old villages will be attacked?
Thanks again TooManyBrownies, My nephew came over yesterday and we went on a bed making frenzy. It didn't take too long before we had put down more beds than villagers and there were small ones popping up everywhere. We worked day & night and I had my first encounter with a phantom. The old villagers all had jobs even though I have only put down a few workstations, the new ones are all unemployed but I don't think they are nitwits. Will the villagers that had a proffession before the update eventually become unemployed? Should I make an oversupply of workstations to counter?
