Which one exactly? He's made several videos about monument farms. Seems like the potion based farms are an older design. Since mending was introduced most xp farms use a sword since you don't have to worry about it breaking. And on java they have that sweeping edge enchantment. The downside is the thorns damage the guardians deal.
I can tell you from my own testing that his small cross shaped design works very slowly on console. It seems like more spawning spaces are needed because making the cross into a square increases the rates a lot. You do not need to farm the entire bounding box to get good rates though. There is a mob specific spawn cap. I cannot remember what the exact number is, but its somewhere around 35 guardians, this number can be reached rather quickly with a decent sized farm. This means that you will need a lot of potions. When I was messing with a potion fed system I needed two brewing stands in the auto brewing machine to keep up.
You can generate 1 layer bedrock superflat worlds that are deep ocean biome and turn ocean monuments on and turn the spacing down as low as it will go. This will give you a perfect place to prototype. It will be spawnproof and the only blocks you will have to remove are the monument itself. Tnt works good :).
I'm in a survival world and I was wanting to make a xp guardian farm. I was just trying to find a good one. I know that the PS4 don't have sweeping edge or I would have created that one. The farm I was referring to was the one he did in "Fun Farms ep. 10: Guardians, at last. Max drops and Max XP. I don't really know a lot about guardian farms but I know I want to make one. That and I want to make it an xp farm with an afk option if possible. Do you know of any good ones? All I know is that one because of Gnembon and the Hermitcraft Server that I watch
That farm is the small cross shaped farm I was referring to. Even with the leaves around the top it was significantly slower on console.
There are no potion fed xp guardian farm tutorials specifically for console that I know of (but that certainly doesn't mean there isn't one out there somewhere). Most of the information in that video applies to our current version of the game though. A few hours in a creative world and you can prototype a decent design based on the info in the video and some trial and error testing. There are tuts for auto potion brewers to attach to it to make it afk-able. Your going to need a healthy supply of spider eyes and gunpowder to make the potions though.
I'll look into it. Can't hurt to try. And I have a mob farm, Welsknights design that works good so I have plenty. Unless if theres any other mob farm that is way better. WelsKnights doesn't drop that much but it's good nonetheless. If I remember correctly Gnembon created it for him. I never created my own design for a farm before so this should be fun
I was curious about a tutorial on Gnembons ocean monument potion xp farm. Any help at all would be appreciated
