I feel that this game has gone to crap. Updates are slow, huge bugs, still no player cap increase, and I just get the impression that I am just being syphoned of my money. but how does the community feel?

Fully agree.
Only updates are minor bugs, still can't build a blaze machine..
Real updates are needed, the games dead in terms of people playing, live streams dropped by 75%, nothing new, nothing to do.
Then they add insult to injury with tex pack after tex pack $$$$$$$$.
updates are free for a game that cost no more than €25
I am very satisfied.
These would be good points if games like warframe didn't exist, free to play and hammering out good quality updates. There is no reason why it is taking 1 year to get us new biomes. Other than complacency.

I've never bought a texture pack, so my $$$$$$$$ is safe. But given the fact that a texture pack costs less than a candy bar, I'm not really worried about the expense, either. Even the big mash-up packs still cost less than a small mocha frappucino at Starbuck's.
They haven't taken away the game I did buy, nor required me to pay more in order to play it, so I don't see a problem there, either.
For what it's worth, I also own an Atari 2600 and a bunch of games (no, I'm not that old; I bought it at a yard sale). Nobody's siphoning my money there, either, even though none of the games for it have been updated in 30+ years. In fact, back when the 2600 was made, there was no such thing as patches or updates. You bought a game, and that was the game you had. When you got tired playing it, you bought a different game. For what it's worth, in today's money those games would sell for around $150. Now you buy a game for $20 and expect to have more stuff added to it, at the developer's expense, apparently forever. Say what?
I bought Minecraft (two years+ ago) because I wanted to play the game that came in that little green box. They've added more stuff since then and didn't charge me for it; that's really cool. But if they'd never added anything after the day I took it home from GameStop, I'd still be perfectly happy. I bought the game because I wanted that game, not because I wanted some other game that it might turn into, and was expecting it to become something else. If that's what I wanted, I would have waited and bought that game instead! And if I had in fact wanted something different (I did want hoppers!) that still did not oblige 4J to add, change, or frob anything in the game to make me happy. They already had my money; I already had their game. The transaction was complete.
As for "adding insult to injury": They need to pay artists to create the texture packs. They probably (I'm not 100% certain on this) need to pay the platform owners to distribute those texture packs. In the case of the licensed mash-up packs, they have to pay the rights owner royalties for the license. So why, exactly, do you feel that you should have them for free? You've already bought Minecraft; no matter what they do with it, they're not going to get any more of your money. They could add new content every week, and they'd still not get any more of your money. Selling texture packs = buying groceries. So if they quit selling texture packs, they can either quit buying groceries -- which their families (and their stomachs) would probably have an issue with -- or they can quit making texture packs and go do something they can make money from, because groceries. They're not going to stop buying groceries if they have any choice in the matter. So either they sell the texture packs, or they stop making them and do something else. Neither of these options involves giving them to you for free.
These would be good points if games like warframe didn't exist, free to

is taking 1 year to get us new biomes. Other than complacency.
Except Warframe isn't free. They sell in-game currency. It's a "freemium" game, and purchases of platinum constitute an ongoing revenue stream for Digital Extremes. They have a solid financial reason to keep adding content: they need to keep players playing the game so they can sell more platinum. What reason, exactly, does 4J have? How will adding more content make them more money?

Platinum is to warframe as texture/skin packs are to mine craft. Continuing development will keep players around, players who buy stuff..more money.
MC is losing numbers, a stale game doesn't fare to well on consoles, simple as.
How is MC a stale game on consoles? It has gotten several updates in the past year, two of which including new features. Fact remains that this is more than almost every other title available, regardless of how many times someone mentions Warframe.
But perhaps you've exhausted all the possibilities of the current version sooner than I have, in which case playing another game for a while seems like a good idea.
Numbers playing have dropped, easy ways to monitor this.....
"Several updates", or 1 LOL, we have had bugfixes and minor additions since last December, Fact.
Also 2 feature updates is far less than most games. Fact.
I did take a 3 month break, come back to the same game I was playing 10 months ago... They make A LOT of money, more than most independent companies could dream of, yet they have chose rather than to be humble, they will instead pull an EA.

"Numbers playing have dropped"? PC version sales ~ 15 million as of June 2014 vs. 21 million today the fact is more and more people are purchasing the game, and I suspect that would translate into more people playing the game, so unless you have some sources proving your statement, then I don't buy that comment.
"Also 2 feature updates is far less than most games. Fact" care to list the PS or Xbox games which have multiple free feature updates? because every year I have to buy the new 2Kwhatever for soccer/football/hockey/baseball/wrestling etc. etc. or COD 2/3/4 and GTA 1/2/3/4/5 etc.
From my vantage point most games companies force you to purchase a whole new version of the game, but if you could list them that would help to prove your "Fact."
"They make A LOT of money, more than most independent companies could dream of, yet they have chose rather than to be humble, they will instead pull an EA"
So they aren't allowed to make money? Or is there a cap on how much they may make? And as for them being humble? please cite specifics, because for the whining and crap they put up with from fans complaining about every nuance of the game, they still answer tweets; forum posts etc. and they seem pretty humble to me?

PC sales....blaw blaw. This is PS4 section btw. "I don't buy that comment."
I base my findings on observations from the psn, gone from 30+ people on friends list playing to 4.. Streams, gone from a top 5 everyday game to top 20, roughly 750+ streams to a tame 200 now, with noticeably less viewing also. The nearly 10,000 strong gaming community I game from has no interest in the game any more across consoles.
Warframe, Planetside 2, Rocket league... There is plenty, don't be ignorant. Yes there are companies wanting money 2 times a year for a re skinned game, or theres Destiny that are holding content you already have payed for ransom for $40. Nevertheless there are games with less income and ability than minecraft hammering out quality updates, communicating with fans etc.
I don't care about "tweets", that takes them what... 5 seconds to reply. I'm looking for more than a yearly update, and looking for less time taken to fix bugs, there are still untouched bugs from last years update..
I understand that the fanboi in you wants to defend and be loyal but they really are doing a bad job. When were slimeblocks released on PC? And it takes over a year to port it across? rubbish. And chess is the same game I was playing as a pre-teen, and people have been playing for hundreds of years. This is an issue how, exactly?
Also, how does making A LOT of money translate into an obligation to give you things for free just because you want them?

I understand what you mean but that is still a terrible analogy lol. But seriously, I have been reading all of your replies and it saddens me that most of you don't understand the game you are all playing. Updates are part of the culture of PC Minecraft period. However, I am not going to complain about them because honestly I miss spoke on my first post. I don't care about the updates, we are at a good place right now with what we have. if you are like me, then you were around when 360 didn't even have pistons so we have come a long way lol. I just want this update to breath life back into the game again by Increasing the player cap! I mean that is all I hear when I am hosting my faction worlds and hunger games maps. for a next gen console it is time to add more people to be able to play. and if you disagree with that please give me a valid reason why on a PlayStation 4 we are still only able to play with 7 other people. Oh, and with all the money that they have show us that you care 4j by putting that money in to enhance online performance.
updates are free for a game that cost no more than €25
I am very satisfied.
A modder by the name of OpryzeLP FOUND AND SOLVED all known bugs for a pervious update on minecraft by himself while modding the game. oh and this was for xbox 360. so small team isn't valid. and for some reason a game that has brought in millions.. I doubt that's still true.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this in the console section of the forums?
Mojang gave 4j permission to create this game for the console under certain conditions. so PC culture greatly impacts the game if you haven't noticed from these updates and what they contain.
Mojang gave 4j permission to create this game for the console under certain conditions. so PC culture greatly impacts the game if you haven't noticed from these updates and what they contain.
Just because Mojang licensed the rights to the game to 4J does not mean that console gamers are suddenly going to become identical with PC gamers, nor that the platform will suddenly become just like the PC -- if that was true, there would be no consoles, we'd all just have PCs!
The fact that different people, playing a different version of the game, on a different platform, by a different company, get content added to that game for free does not obligate 4J to do the same.
I had figured someone would finally need to ask. Like I said, you do not pay directly but you do pay. Bearing in mind that;
A. I am just waking up so forgive me if I go too fast, and B. Nothing in life is free, ever.
So in order to explain this I need to be a bit more philosophical rather than literal. So without further delay...
The prospect of paying encompasses more than just directly paying for something, in this particular instance, we all are
paying via a few different ports, these include but are not limited too;
1. DLC content such as skin, mash-up and texture packs, this being almost directly paying for the updates in question.
2. Provided you believe your own time is valuable, and depending on how much the updates have impacted your
enjoyment of the game. Updates can get real pricey here, even if you, yourself, are oblivious to what features are lacking
at least consider those of us who have been impatiently waiting. Time IS money.
3. Sharing with friends. This are impacts you in majority due to lack of, if any, friends who will actually play the game with
you. Again, having an interest in enjoying the game that is impacted by boredom or otherwise dissatisfaction.
4. This one is the biggest one, you see, you may not be paying out of pocket for the updates but Microsoft is.
And you can bet your fully enchanted diamond pickaxe that Microsoft will spread that cost around. Much like we all
pay taxes which are produced by debt, we all pay a bit with every update.
So there it is. In closing I would also like to mention that I am a fanboy of minecraft, but that doesn't mean I have to
overlook anything.
I feel that this game has gone to crap. Updates are slow, huge bugs, still no player cap increase, and I just get the impression that I am just being syphoned of my money. but how does the community feel?
I personally have no problem with the game but I mostly play by myself. And it's not a money pit at all really. But that's my opinion
What have you paid for since you bought the game?

I see a lot of "free updates=excuses" out there. It is no small coincidence that I have my own topic on this in the 360 discussions
Here is the bottom line. Those updates are not free. You may not pay for them directly but you do pay. I feel complacency
has played a large roll in how the updates have been recently. If you look at the change logs you can see early on 4J
was tackling large quantities of bugs plus adding content. Now it is a few bugs then a few small features.
Does 4J HAVE to provide updates? No. Are they paid to provide updates? Yes. The next tid bit is for all the doubters out there
FALLOUT 4. Bethesda has already promised free, continual, feature updates to the game that focus on what the community
responds to involving mods. Or how about No Man's Sky? This game is dangerously close to being a direct competitor
with Minecraft. Now here is the real kicker. Aside from mods, both the games listed will be the exact same on PC and console.
Why do you think Jeb tossed in wings right at the ending of the snapshots for 1.9?
Are you going to play a dulled out shell of a game when you can do virtually the exact same thing in a better envirnment?
Are you going to be so loyal when your friends have all moved on?
What happens when the updates just are not enough to bring you back?
There is good cause for concern. The reasons to stick up for 4J are slim and obsolete. Stating "its free" does not equate
"its ok". Stating "they do not have to provide updates" is not true. More like "It is their job to provide updates, otherwise
they find new jobs" Its time to stop being so blind. If you care about 4J or Minecraft console, it is time to let 4J know.
We want this game to thrive. Not just in our own personal game library, but in every gamer's library.
We want this game to stop being lackluster due to lack of content.
We want this game to be proudly displayed on youtube again.
You can ignore the text on the wall, you can ignore the large number of gamers switching to other games, you can ignore
youtubers and the lack of console edition content, you can even ignore 4J's twitter feed where almost every tweet
is garnished with at least one "when will we get an update?" response. You can be a frog. Ignore the heat of the water,
totally oblivious to the fact that you are boiling alive.

Also, is that the best you guys can muster? I posted an entire report on my standing and you focus again on the "free updates"?
When does that get stale for you? when you realize that the statement adds nothing of value (no pun intended) to the
conversation? Or perhaps when you get to see for yourself? If you want I can do that. It will take me a few days to
gather everything but I can go and get a nice little list for you and post it up.
