Thanks.
Knock yourself out.
But I actually tried that already. Non of the chests in the stronghold have any seeds. And the Nether fortress doesn't even have one single chest.

There is a website called chunkbase it has a mineshaft finder, I thought the same thing on one of my worlds but this site helped me find melon seeds. Just enter your seed and make sure the settings are in ps3 and it will give you the locations where mineshafts are in your world. There should be at least 1 in evey world
After starting a new world, I've decided that there is really no point on building a Villager sorting system since they all pretty much sell/trade the same things. Except when it comes to Enchanted books and tools. But that still doesn't warrant a sorting system, just a village.
I'd still like to see my suggestion implemented though.
Surprised there aren't more votes on the poll for this.

Are you absolutely certain there are no mineshafts in your survival world? If you're not entirely sure, take the seed from your world and use it to create a new world in creative mode so you can search safely. If you find it, write down the coordinates. I snap a pic of the map with my phone.
I found a mineshaft in my world by listening for bats or other sounds at the bottom of an ocean.
You can also check ravines. Go cave-exploring. This way, you can easily find one without compromising your world.
And though this won't help now, next time you create a new world, make sure you tick the bonus chest option before you load it. They very often include melon and pumpkin seeds, cactus, jungle tree saplings and cocoa beans
Yeah. And it would be nice to have Coco beans too. But mainly melons.
And yes, I've checked for mine shafts and my seed has no mine shafts.

Already mentioned in previous comments. There are no mine shafts on this seed.

I think a green robed villager with profession title "Merchant" and which sells all things biome specific at an inflated price, would be awesome.
Steven Woodward (@4JSteve) needs to take this to the Developers as it seems to be a legitimate request from a lot of users.

This would be so useful! Lately I haven't been finding jungles, and without jungles, that means no melons. This needs to happen, now!
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

If you read through this thread you'd come to the conclusion that I AM absolutely certain.
Even used http://chunkbase.com/apps/mineshaft-finder
I've since gave up on that world and created a new one. But I'd still like to see this feature with the villagers updated though.
