I tried the second link on a mac -- and found the Raspbian "wheeze" image didn't worked (it wouldn't boot) and the debian image referenced in the article booted -- but I had no network.
Click the above image for science! Some people think it's a scam. But it's not. Why else would I put this in my sig?
Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door is by far the world's best Nintendo game ever made.

The main purpose of Minecraft PI is to encourage people to code. To that end, Minecraft PI comes with a Python API and a Java API which enable you to connect to the game with a terminal, and control the landscape with programs. (For instance, instead of manually building a 10 x 10 x 10 cube made of glass, you can just run the following program:
import mcpi.minecraft as minecraft
mc = minecraft.Minecraft.create()
for x in xrange(10):
for y in xrange(10):
for z in xrange(10):
mc.setBlock(x,y,z,3)
)
However, using an awesome Bukkit plugin called Raspberry Juice, if you get a copy of the Minecraft PI API from the Mojang website, you can put it on a PC, and run the exact same program I wrote above, but it will edit your Bukkit Server world, rather than a Minecraft Pi world. Note that the program should be saved as a file, and the Python API should be in the same folder as the file. You should then run the program by navigating to the folder containing the file and API, and run the program with
python filename
When you download Minecraft Pi from Mojang, the Python API is the folder inside "mcpi/api/python" If you just stick the above program into the python folder, it will automatically be in the same folder as the API, so it will work. Of course, the Bukkit Server should be running when you try this...
I agree, the raspberry pi, after you get all the stuff for it costs about 60-100 dollars. It is much easier to just buy a raspberry pi than it is to set up emulators and all that junk.

You can emulate Raspberry Pi using QEMU -- here are some pages describing how

Another solution which has been working great for me is to setup a bukkit server and a mod so I could run these python scripts against it... Check out the article here for details how

You can just play minecraft on PC

2.Copy source into .py files
3.Now burn the disk image for your pi (if it has minecraft)
4.Run Minecraft.py, enjoy!
If not, you're going to have to find an emulator that supports wheezy, and I don't know of any...
and I don't need one...
I have a pi...
I'm just a Minecraft player that likes to give my opinion. Nothing special to see here.
Were you even listening to him?
