Evening! New user, got a weird issue, curious as to whether anyone else has encountered this:
I've got the most recent update to this version of MC, and twice in one day, two tamed dogs vanished. D: RIP Auggie n Woofers.
I didn't go anywhere dangerous--my 2-story house is floating above a huge lake, in Peaceful mode, with stairs heading to lake level. Both of my dogs just...despawned? In the recent incident, I quite literally walked over to my anvil, fixed a pole, then popped upstairs to drop off a book I fished up. Woofer just poofed while my back was turned. No barking to be heard, no dog sitting any where.
I know named animals aren't supposed to vanish, and Google told me what I already know about pets in game. Help...?
There are bug reports about tamed animals despawning. I have not experienced named animals despawning but its not out of the realm of possibilities. The other option is lightning, it has an area of effect, so a direct strike is not required to damage mobs.

No lightning around this time, although I'm familiar with dogs being hit by it. D:
Glad to see this is a recurring problem, on the flip side. Makes me feel a little less alone about my houdini dogs!
Next time weird stuff happens check out the bugtracker;

Most of the time its a bug. Since we get frequent updates we also get a lot of bugs when we get new features. They'll figure it out soon.
