I've made a few worlds now, trying to see if it's just my one game or what, but I haven't seen a single zombie or spider spawn on the overworld or in caves. I have seen skeletons and creepers, but that's it. I made a world and did a run through a cave system to find a zombie spawner, and that worked. Has anyone else noticed this?
You're not the only person I've heard mention low monster spawn rates, but it must be luck of the seed? I've run across plenty of zombies and spiders, and even as a guy who tosses torches all over the place they'll pop up where I've missed.
For what it's worth, the spawn rate of things in general feels very, very low compared to PC. That said, I also spent a ridiculous amount of time in cave systems and came across very few naturally spawning mobs. The overworld had plenty, but I didn't see a spider for a fair amount of time either.
Stealth ghasts shooting at me from outside of the range of their audible cues, I've got plenty of, though.
