Update 15: What's this? I'm back already? What about the server I was playing? Well, my friends, SSP comes first. That's right, I am back in the world of Fyq, and am working on some great projects. I did say "I will be leaving this world until further notice", didn't I? Well, now we have gotten further in time and I am notifying you that I am back in business. I think gaining interest in other aspects of minecraft, or something totally unrelated to minecraft, is something many players go through. One day you're playing survival minecraft like crazy, and then the next you're watching that awesome show, The Bachelor to see if Brandon will end up dating Veronica or not, haha (that was sarcasm). I'm sure some of you have once been hooked to a great YouTube Let's Play that suddenly ended out of nowhere. The only thing is, it's a little embarrassing when you're doing a Let's Play or in my case, a survival Journal. Nevertheless I haven't been gone that long and I trust a few of you are still interested. So without further to do, let's get started!
Today's Update isn't that long, but I wanted to Update anyway. I promise the next will be twice as long. As you can see from this picture, I have the storage room for the Mega string farm done. I think it looks awesome.Good thing about this farm: Redstone is extremely simple. There is no tutorial, but it wasn't hard to just copy it down from the world download. Look at that view! <3Bad thing about this farm: IT USES DISPENSERS! NEVER TRUST DISPENSERS! EVER!
"But Fyqcraft, didn't you say this farm has got that covered? Didn't you say with this farm broken dispensers are not a problem?"
Yes, I did say that. And actually, I believed that because the creator, TDL, said that broken dispensers wouldn't be a problem. What is a broken dispenser? It is a Dispenser that stops working, hence the word broken. Even if you power it with redstone it will dispense nothing. The only way to fix them is to break and replace them. Well guess what? Some of the dispensers broke. And I wasn't going to replace all these, so I am left with a slow spider farm. It produces maybe 5 or 6 stacks an hour or something. But not to worry, for now that is a fine number. I can just AFK here when I'm not playing, and later down the road I will build a different, bigger, and better spider farm that can't break. After that, this monstrosity will just stand as a cool monument.
The nice collection system...This is probably 8 hours worth of string, maybe more...That was the last of the string farm pics. So this random Ghast fire ball is stuck in midair, and I'm wondering if there's anything cool I can do with it. Will it go away if I reload the chunks (F3 + A)?I went quartz mining because I plan to use some in my base. I dug a whole single chest full (not double chest) of Quartz blocks. It took a while as you would expect. I have now mined almost 6,500 quartz in this world. Hopefully I will never have to do this again...And lastly here is a very vague preview of my base! That's right, I am finally starting on it! I have spent enough time in that hole in a hill, and now it's time for a permanent place to call home. As I have said before, it will be right above the slime farm and will look awesome. It will be underground, so you won't see it from above ground. Don't worry if it looks iffy now, I promise it will be grand. Well, that's all I have. Sorry this was short, but I hope you all still enjoyed and are looking forward to enjoying more. Good bye for now!
I'm glad you've decided to keep this going! I look forward to seeing what you've got planned for your main base - and why you're opting to keep it 100% below ground.
I'm glad you've decided to keep this going! I look forward to seeing what you've got planned for your main base - and why you're opting to keep it 100% below ground.
Hmm, one reason is because I really suck at building above ground. I don't and can't build that medieval looking stuff (or pseudo-medieval) most people build on their worlds, or any other style really. Also, my base will have plenty of redstone contraptions in it, and designing a base full of redstone and keeping it looking nice isn't exactly easy...
Update 16: Another update, yeah! 16 is one of my favorite numbers, FYI. So today I have quite a bit of pics to show you as promised. I think most of you will like what you see.
My business investments have begun! I have started to seriously trade with villagers now, and boy is it rewarding. They have to be the most useful mobs in this game, honestly.Believe it or not, this is the highest level I've ever gotten to in any minecraft world (before it was 69). I'm just breaking record after record in this world, aren't I?By buying 2 of the same item and combining it I was able to get brand new pickaxes, an axe, swords, and a chestplate, all without me having to spend a single diamond. Plus I had plenty of emeralds left over. They are easy to get when you trade tons of iron (and carrots/potatoes if you have 'em).Next I went to craft a bunch of iron blocks, because I plan to place all my redstone on those from now on (you'll see what I mean later). I don't have the most efficient crafting station, but that will change when I'm done with a certain part of my base. And as you can see I have 73 levels from trading over 500 times. It's almost an XP farm!I slabbed the top of the slime farm right under the base floor. That way, when I am in the lower part of my base and I look through the window to see my slime farm, I won't see a random spruce floor floating in the air. My levels are at 14 too as you can see. I died from a bad enderpearl toss. The worse part is I lost most my armor (except my boots, thank goodness!) I now have the command "/gamrule keepInventory" set to "true". That might be considered cheaty to some, but I am tired of having to end my session every time I die.I dug this hole for the furnace room. It's slightly too large, but that's fine because I need all the cobble I can get! Then I dug this huge hole for the automatic potion room. I tried digging it on hard difficulty but it was darn near impossible to do so. There were just way too many mobs spawning. I even tried digging it out on easy, but it was still hard to dig and fend myself from mobs at the same time. Long story short I had no choice but to do this in peaceful. It makes sense because The majority of the area around me is lit up, and I have this one, huge dark room with plenty of spawning spaces for hostile mobs.On easy this amount of mobs might spawn in just 10 seconds. There was more from where that came from too.And here I am, done with both holes and ready to start filling them in! Look at all those bats!So I put in the automatic furnace array. It was designed by xMistBeastx, the guy who owns the server I play on. It's fast and fuel efficient. And as you can see, this is what I meant by placing all my redstone on iron blocks from now on. Just because I can.How this works (skip if you're not interested): I am no expert on furnace arrays but this is pretty simple to understand. You have your hopper minecart under the chess I am standing on, which is sitting on a detector rails, and the rail is sloped downwards, In front of the minecart you have a fence gate, which if opened allows the minecart to roll away. Whenever you put items in the hopper minecart, a comparator coming out of itpowers a block over a piston which powers a repeater set to 2 ticks, which sends power into a small comparator clock, which will turn a torch off, unpowering a bit of RS dust which powers that piston you see. When the clock is done running it allows the torch to come back on which briefly powers the repeater pointing toward the fence gate. The fence gate is opened and the minecart is sent to fill the furnaces. Here is a point where a different minecart (hopper minecart of course) will be sent off to collect items. when the other minecart passes over a detector rail above that line of RS you see, it powers the dust which opens the gate and sends the minecart to collect items from the furnaces. When this minecart gets back, if it still has items, a comparator will draw power from it and power dust, which powers a block, which powers a repeater which opens the gate again. I didn't put the minecart on the rail in this picture. Finally we have the collection point. The minecart stops at the last hopper which has a powered rail on it, and if the cart has items in it, they get sucked up by the hopper, which powers the comparator, depowering the torch, depowering the repaeter, and allowing the cart to stay ad keep sending items through. When done, the comparator doesn't send any more power to the torch, which allows the repeater to turn on, powering the block next to the powered rail, powering that rail, and sending off the cart. I hope people enjoy these explanations, because they take a while to write. It started raining and I went out to...guess what? Go fishing of course! I, unlike most minecrafters, love both rain and fishing, and since you have a better chance of catching fish in the rain, I got out my Lure II rod (I combined the rod with a Lure III book and for some reason only got Lure II) and started fishing. I caught 2 pufferfish easily.Started decorating. This is gonna look nice.Progress update. Gotta love those walls. Here's the finished product! I hope I don't sound too egotistic, but I really like the way this turned out. Now I can get on to that potion room. This is gonna be the style of the whole base. I can't wait till it's done. I hope you all enjoyed, see you in the next update!

The hall looks spiffy! For some reason I have a hard time making anything with dyed hard clay look good, but yours works.
I almost understood your explanation for the minecart & redstone stuff , but then I look at the screenshots & something in my brain breaks.
It's best to understand how each part of redstone works before trying to understand a whole machine. Do you know all the uses of repeaters? Do you know how a dot of redstone dust can work differently than a line of RS dust? Do you know exactly how comparators work? Learn that stuff if you haven't already and I promise understanding this stuff will come easier to you. XD
fyqcraft,You should make a modded survival using a bunch of electricity and technical mods xD
I've honestly thought about doing that too many times to count. I might one day. There a couple of things keeping me back:
1. Using large modpacks takes up TONS of RAM, at least 2 gigs for single player probably. My machine only has 4, and you usually don't want to allocate more than half your memory to minecraft, although I am skeptical about allocating more than 1.5 gigs. I can upgrade it though.
2. Using mods means overpowered smelting, digging, and allows me to fly. I don't know how I could play mods and then come back to vanilla and try to dig a whole, unable to because I am used to a quarry doing it overnight

I think you are mistaken. Home computers don't come with 128 GB of RAM. You are talking about hard drive space. That's a different type of memory. RAM stands for Random Access Memory, which is what a computer uses to run programs on your computer, but once you exit that program or shut off your computer, your RAM is no longer being used and anything kept is saved to the hard drive (I probably didn't explain that in the best way, lol).

You did, congratz
Wait, modpacks take RAM? Are they separate Forge programs? It will still show up as one process.

Yes modpacks take up RAM. Anything you do on computers take up RAM. It's really not all that complicated to understand, actually. Any program currently running on your computer is made up of bytes, which is basically little bits of information. Lots of information makes up a program. You need something to store that information currently being used, and that's where RAM comes in. RAM, as I stated, means Random Access Memory, because the address, the place on the piece of hardware where data is stored, is chosen at random. This is because data can be stored into memory anywhere in your stick of RAM at the same speed, there need be no order in which the data is stored (RAM is a piece of hardware, just like a hard drive or motherboard). Are modpacks separate forge programs? No, I don't think so, but they do have their own launchers. Lastly, I'm no expert on computers yet, so anyone who knows more can correct me on anything I said wrong.

Update 17: I haven't finished much this week, but I still have some awesome things to show you guys. The potion lab is complete! Granted I don't use potions much, it may be a bit excessive, but you all know already that my playstyle is all about going to the extreme anyways. Still, it will come in handy because it's faster than doing it manually, and I do have one farm in mind that this will aid greatly in. So, let's get on with it!
I started building it one block above the stone because I need space for the floor. This potion factory uses a lot of redstone which I don't fully understand, so don't expect any explanations this time. By the way, this farm was designed by ilmango, who is an awesome youtuber!Sorry if any of these pictures aren't in exact order, I am in a rush and don't have time to figure out which order their in. It is almost all in the right order though, maybe all of it.Stupid creepers! The builder's (and redstoner's) worst nightmare! It uses 5 brewing stands, and can brew over 400 potions per hour, which is rarely needed...Water bottle elevator...Had problems around these parts because I missed a single piece of RS dust!If any of you don't know of this trick, you can use ice blocks (not pack ice) to create water streams. It automatically turns into water after you break it with anything non-silk touch. More handy than buckets for sure.A view of almost all the redstone in gamemode 3. I love it I have so much iron blocks I just use them for scaffolding, filling creeper holes, etc. In this case I wanted to use a non wood block to go under the carpet, because I need to save all the wood I can until I have a wood farm. So of course my first choice was iron.Another neat trick is that light shines through carpet. So I placed glowstone in spots to keep the area lit up. You can also use torches, but the smoke particles rise through the carpet, and plus glowstone is a rich man's block Tada!Water bottle stream that leads to elevator and stores them. All you have to do is fill your inventory with anything and just start spam clicking glass bottles in the water. You will automatically spit them out.Now for some random stuff. For some reason, golems keep spawning outside the iron farm from time to time. The farm still works great, but I don't know if these stray golems affect the rates, and since they don't despawn, I kill them every time I see one. Beware, they are quite strong...I don't like having my armor damaged so I just use my bow. Easy kill with this OP thing.Went fishing for a bit, caught these INCREDIBLY rare clownfish! Ok, they may not be incredibly rare, but they are rare, in fact it would be EXTREMELY hard to even get a single chest full of these. And to end this week's update, I will reveal a portion of what we are working on in creative for the Minerva server. It will be quite the farm! Anyway, I don't think this was too short. Until next week, Fyqcraft, signing out!
Can you show us the Statistics screen? It's fun to have you show your stats and stuff about the world (how long you've been playing, how many blocks you've placed, etc.)
Can you show us the Statistics screen? It's fun to have you show your stats and stuff about the world (how long you've been playing, how many blocks you've placed, etc.)
I think it's fun to see statistics and stuff too. I will show you some statistics in different posts. That means instead of revealing it all at once, I will show you them once I complete certain tasks to make them seem more epic (i.e. if I dig a small perimeter, I will show you how much stone I've dug so far or something). But I will give away a few stats just because you asked. I've played in this world for about 950 days (including AFK sessions of course), I have killed about 32,000 endermen, and have dug just over 83,000 stone.

Thank you for the tip about ice blocks!
Can you show us the Statistics screen? It's fun to have you show your stats and stuff about the world (how long you've been playing, how many blocks you've placed, etc.)
Era 2 of my MCF time: "The Return"
I think it's fun to see statistics and stuff too. I will show you some statistics in different posts. That means instead of revealing it all at once, I will show you them once I complete certain tasks to make them seem more epic (i.e. if I dig a small perimeter, I will show you how much stone I've dug so far or something). But I will give away a few stats just because you asked. I've played in this world for about 950 days (including AFK sessions of course), I have killed about 32,000 endermen, and have dug just over 83,000 stone.
