I wish you could have the option of having the traditional crafting system or the console / pocket edition method. I feel like this would make a decent addition for a newer player who wants to ease into the game, or people like me who have trouble remembering things and would like to be able to play without having to constantly stop play to look up things on the wiki.
I know this is an incredibly selfish suggestion... Constructive criticism is welcome and thanks for reading!
Console player here. One of the reasons why I prefer console over pc.
The only problem with auto crafting though, as much as I love it, there is nothing set up for quick repairs of tools and armor. Playing hard mode grants you a lot of free weapons from mobs, like armor, swords, bows, and they're almost always nearly broken. I wind up repairing these to make room for more in my chest. It's a pain having to check and uncheck the classic crafting option just to make repairs to unenchanted items or waste XP doing it on the anvil.
Plus, in an effort to quell youtubers from.exposing dup glitches common on console because of the auto crafting mechanic, recipes often get repositioned and placed in different catagories making them difficult to to locate. Sometimes, you wind up looking that up instead of recipes.
What I would love to see is a blend of both. Meaning that the crafting grid can be toggled in auto crafting and still function the same while the menu for auto crafting items and recipes be listed along side it where you have the option to simply view and craft or have it made for you.
This would entirely kill the whole point of crafting in Minecraft:
Crafting in MC PC is easy to do, as most recipes are simple.
Having a click interface would make games like Hunger Games, Skywars, and other survival minigames
way too easy, as crafting must be quick or else someone will see you and kill you.
If you have a GUI, you click and craft, and run away, making it hard for people to jump you
This would make Survival Games and Skywars harder.
This feature was stated outright to be optional. A server owner could turn it on or off depending on the situation. I firmly believe suggestions should not be based around third party minigames.
I have a very hard time taking you seriously due to the 'free' Minecraft link in your signature. With all that being said, have a nice day.

I believe that would be wonderful! Having any sort of visual guide for manual crafting would be a huge help. Is the duping due to the auto-crafting mechanic being ridiculously exploitable or because it's written in different code from the PC? Either way its a valid concern, especially if servers were to try to use the auto-crafting.
While I would never use such a feature for crafting, there's nothing wrong at all with it being included and maybe it could be integrated with an in-game recipe viewer (from what I recall, it shows recipes anyway right?)
Because discovering how to craft a daylight sensor is fun.
Seriously, some of the crafting recipes in Minecraft are so obscure that you will never be able to actually guess how to craft them, without looking up information online. Minecraft desperately needs some kind of crafting guide, because there are plenty of recipes now too complex to figure out for yourself.
Erm I just figured out how to multi-quote sorry for the third separate reply. I never really get an experience of discovery when on Java. I usually get frustrated and confused and have to use the wiki to find out the recipe.
Also I agree with everything you said Masterminded, some of these recipes are way too complex for their own good. Some recipes don't even feel like they would make the item to me. That may just be me though.

Most dupe glitches I have seen require auto crafting because of block versions of items. The first I knew of exploited a glitch involving a chest. If you open a chest at the same time you pause the game, the chest will remain open and you can toss whatever is in hot tray, and it will be both thrown while still remaining in your hot tray. You then break those in your hot tray, then swoop in and collect the ones on the ground. Rinse repeat, almost infinite resources if it's something that can be made into blocks and then broken up into pieces again. Like diamonds, iron, gold, redstone, emeralds, and coal. You can imagine what most used it for.
Of course, that dup was patched out months ago, but every new update gets a new dup glitch

That does sound very serious. I mean that is ridiculously easy to do for a game-breaking glitch. If its every version, then maybe an ingame recipe viewer would be better.

Another crafting guide (sort of) suggestion? I'll reuse my argument.
As nice as that may be and even though it's optional, I feel it would take out the experience and feeling of discovery the Java version always had.
