Don't know if I really support this, but I do think we need a broader selection of light sources if just for the aesthetics. Again though not sure why it has to be made from all nether materials.
I like the idea of a "Nether Sea Lantern" for all of the previously stated obvious reasons. A smooth lava light block would be perfect for dark sci-fi builds.
Also, people complain that it's useless, but you're basically saying "Why have hardened clay/concrete when wool also has all of the colors?" It's just an aesthetic block that accomplishes the same goal with a smoother texture.
Not too sure about the whole mob spawning complexities though. I think it should probably be just your average light source.

The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird would be able to cross the entire Minecraft world in just shy of 17 hours.

In the OP, I talk about an engineered looking light that suits the Nether. "Netherbrick" after all, is implied non-natural. And there isn't any wood for torches.

Yea, I don't get how a unique texture is useless in Minecraft. Has that person ever built anything in Minecraft beyond a dirt house? I mostly care about the aesthetics myself, but there could be a unique engineering element into it as well that makes naturally spawned nether fortress more breath taking.
that doesn't make sense, Monster stay away from 7+ light level because that way it should be. but making NEW light level will take a lot of work. 50/50 SUPPORTED
Yea like real life! Monsters stay away from light and Minecraft is all about realism!
wut?
You seem to be confused and think there is natural law of physics in the game or something. Also "a lot of work" isn't an argument against an idea. (Check sub forum rules) This wouldn't be unique in the realm of possibilities as there are plenty of mods that have something like this.
Also, you never see a creeper blow up your base and gardens in day time?

What is it? It's magic...
Thanks for the support! Do you like the idea of the functionality, the aesthetic, and/or the way they'd spawn more?
