Villages have popularity values, though the only effect is that if your popularity is -15 or below the village's iron golem becomes aggressive towards you. I feel like there should be positive feedback for the player if he or she does certain actions within the village. So, today I present the Villager Popularity overhaul.
First off the popularity value range for you is going to extend from the original range of -30 to 10 to….-30 to 50. The range change is to add room for the new ways to gain popularity. Originally the only way to gain popularity was to complete the last trade on a trade list for 1pt of popularity. I have thought of a couple new methods to gain popularity.
Placing certain blocks (logs, planks, cobble, ect) within village range. 0.5 points per 2 blocks and gain stops after 10 pts. (Note may use parabolic system like zombies, unsure how to word for this….)
Building a valid house within village range. 3 points per a house. Cooldown time of 2 days before you can earn points this way again
By giving items (emeralds, gold, iron, ect.) to villagers for free. Points depend on items given.
By killing zombies in village.Stops giving points after 10 points earned this way. (Each point earned this way increases the amount of zombies you must kill. Second point requires you kill two zombies, tenth point requires ten killed zombies)
What will your popularity do for you? Well good question! Here is a chart for positive popularity:
0 points neutral- nothing special here
10 points- Villagers may occasionally give discounts on trades.(10% of the time?) (Discounts remove 3-10 items on your side of the trade or emeralds given to you will increase).
20 points- Discount frequency increases (20% of the time?)
30 points- Villagers may give free items (a couple emeralds, 10 bread, ect.)
40 points- Discount frequency increases (40% of the time?)
50 points- Free items given more frequently…Children have a chance of being named after you?
In order to counteract the positive buffs there will be more penalties for negative popularity. Here's the chart:
-10 points- Villagers jack up prices for trades ( increase on your side of 3-10 items, less emeralds given)
-20 points- Children stay away from you. Iron golems become aggressive towards you
-30 points- Almost all Villagers refuse to trade with you.Good luck getting your popularity back up..
Now that I think about it, wouldn't make more sense if what you could trade for was dependent on your popularity? It might complicate the trade system too much though.

Please, I need some critism guys...I am sorry for how unprofessional this is and I'm sorry if this wasted your time, but please tell me what I could improve or what is fine!
Seems interesting, I don't know how children being named after you will work, and I can just place cobble all over the place to rank up popularity, but overall it's a nice idea
I actually love this idea!! like the guy above said tho spamming blocks would be too easy id personally prefer it just be adding new buildings gets you points. the idea of a discount on trades is pretty cool. not a huge fan of naming villager kids personally but its not bad. i feel like its balanced pretty well also right now but that should be something that could be tested and nerfed or buffed accordingly. other than that this idea is awesome!

Perhaps a parabolic raise would be more balanced, same for the Zombie slayage.
1st for 2 blocks, 2nd after 4, 3rd after 8, then 16, then 32, then 64, ten points requires 1024 (16 stacks).
Zombie points follow Fibonacci: 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 10 points after 144 Zeds. 11 points would take 233 zombies and 2048 Blocks and more, so a limit cap wouldn't be an issue as diminishing returns would make ever-raising effort requirements each player's choice whether it's worth it or not.

Sorry if I thread-jacked. I overthink ....
Eh,its okay, man you didn't overstep your boundaries. As for the parabolic raise, its a good idea! Didn't think of that. Thanks! (Gonna add that)

Actually, I've been thinking for a bit and thought of the donation values.
Iron: 0.5 points (Why? because iron is common enough that I can have multiple stacks of it)
Gold: 3 points (Why? In real life gold is seen as very pretty, and think villagers would think that too. Its also harder to get than iron)
Emeralds: 5 points (Why? This is the currency of the villagers. Generally people like people who give them money)
Diamond: 10 points (Why? One, this would be late game. Two, do you see yourself giving five diamonds away just for max pop? Three, diamonds are hard to get)
Thanks for reading. These are tentative and subject to chance, hence why they aren't part of the main post.

Eh, diamonds are too OP, I find them almost instantly, emeralds are rarer so you should switch the two.

The points gained from the block placement stop after 10 points, they're freebies basically. Thanks for responding though!
