I think a block called the Lazer Crystal would be cool, it's crafting recipe would be: Top: [Nothing][Guardian Eye][Nothing] Middle: [Diamond][Ender Crystal][Diamond] Bottom: [Diamond][Redstone][Diamond]. The Guardian Eye would be a rare drop from Guardians. It's use would be like an Ender Crystal, you place it, add a redstone signal, and it would lazer any mob or player in a certain radius. It wouldn't go through walls though. Sound like a good idea?
It would "laser any mob or player". Uh-huh. What if you're not the kind of player who feels the need to murder other players, and as such are playing on a cooperative server? Kinda unfriendly.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. I will face my fear. I will let it pass over me and through me, and when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Then don't use it. That's the stupidest reason to not support something ever. There's heaps of 'unfriendly' things in the game that people simply do not have to use if they don't want to.

You missed my point entirely. I have no problem with it targeting mobs, but any decent suggestion has to take in the needs and wants of the whole community. Sizeable portions of the community don't engage in PvP, so a PvP device masquerading as a general survival suggestion is anti-community. The OP should either make this laser thing anti-mob OR anti-player, but not both. It seems like a pretty good defensive weapon, and if I live in a cooperative server and want to protect my house with lasers, my friends should not also have to be in danger.

This is rather interesting. But this could use more information, as it is vague right now. For example, we need to know radius, duration, how much damage it would do, etc. I think the best part about this idea is that the laser is not under the player's control, so that's one balanced aspect of it. But like Blue Jerry, I'm on the fence with it.
As this suggestion was way too uninteresting as there is not enough information of this suggestion.
Being vague is one thing, but 'not being interesting" for you isn't proper critiquing. Your opinion makes just as little of an impact as the suggester's, but unless you're going to provide reasoning on why this wouldn't work, it's not necessary to state.
I think this is a neat idea if it only targets mobs. Maybe with a radius of 10 blocks and does (depending upon the rarity of guardian eyes) 2-5 hearts of damage.

Hmm, what's the range on it? And how much damage, if any? It kinda sounds like something that would make a cool mob sensing item.
On the fence until some more info is added.

I feel like what he/she means by laser is a guardian laser because it's crafted with, well, something you get from guardians
