Minecraft, Each player have been playing this game for so long knows how much changes that happened in the game..
Each minecraft Update brings more stuff, technique, and new gameplay
i have been thinking of this idea long time ago and i finally get to post it here.. "Eclipse Day"
(this could be optional since some of you wanted this as an optional setting.. it could be changed in customized world type..) thanks willy4win for for suggestion
Basically this day happens each 300 or 30 minecraft days
the moon stands in-front of the sun
at that time No animals will spawn but Mobs will
and they will become more powerful and have more abilities
-Zombies: will spawn 20% more than normal and will be able to kick down doors (even if not on hard, hardcore
and break down only wood(not logs) and glass panes, that would be perfect for testing your base defends
-Skeletons: will spawn 10% more that normal.. they can detect the player from farther areas
i saw that they added new arrows in minecraft 1.9 so some of these skeletons can shoot those
Notice: Both zombies and skeletons wont burn during the eclipse day.
-Creepers: creepers will explode and release a poison that last only for 3 to 5 seconds (maybe blindness? i dont know but that would be awesome)
-Spiders: Spiders will spawn 20% more than normal, will use potion effect on him self to help him self but he could only use speed and strength and will poison the player with slowness and/or poison.
-Endermans:The Enderman can only attack the player within a small radius like 10-15 blocks and once in aggro rang it can teleport and attack the player.
-Witches: willspawn 20% more than normal, can throw all sort of potions and can throw double potions at the same time, and they might spawn in packs..
thats it for the surface
now down to the caves:
no mobs will spawn in the caves during an eclipse except for silverfish: (to make it coding possible Mobs will not spawn under layer Y 50 or 60)
They spawn in stone more frequently
Nether:
nothing will happen since the eclipse in only in the Overworld
End world:
Same as nether nothing happens
-Some Zombie invasions will come to your house, and zombies with armor and more likely to drop the armor when killed (same goes for the skeleton)
-creepers when killed they have a rare chance of dropping a disk)
-Mobs: each mob have a small chance of dropping head which can be increased by looting enchantment
-spiders .. will be spiders
Some players are saying that this is a punishment for the player.. this meant to be a challenge..
Now new items:
Eclipse clock:
Normally crafted as the normal clock but with quartz at each side instead of gold (maybe a better crafting would be better... suggestion?)
this clock can tell you when an eclipse will happen (when in hand it will open just like a map in minecraft and will show you how many days left till the eclipse)
basically just that
As a rare drop *like carrots and potatoes" skeletons might drop up to 4 quartz
During an eclipse the loot from mobs will be increased and chances of getting good loot are high
also You could go to sleep to escape this eclipse day
So this is my suggestion for minecraft hope you guys support and if you like the idea then maybe spread this word to other people so we can add this to the game..i don't want this as a mod i want this as a Vanilla minecraft gameplay,
If you have any suggestions and better ideas for this please post them
This is the entire definition of "Hard" in Minecraft, and it even goes beyond that. This isn't a challenge, this is pure annoyance to a great level. Zombies destroying blocks? That's what I like to call as natural griefing, as an entire group of zombies might be enough to destroy half a mountain. Skeletons doing more damage and having a further bow radius? Their aiming is already 70% accurate and if you get closer you are bound to take a beating. And it's even a more annoyance if they have Power or Flame, and worst of all, Punch. Spiders have a complete upgrade and it's bound to make fleeting a worst mistake. And I think what's the worse is Endermen. Endermen are the only land mobs with the farthest radius to spot a player, of around 25 or more blocks away from the player. And even if you're that far, just staring at it is enough to provoke them. Imagine if an Enderman spawned near your house, picked you up and teleported you right in the middle of this battlefield? So literally, there is no way of defending yourself from this apocalyptic event. Build a fort? Torn down by zombies, Hide in an obsidian shelter, bound to be stripped away from that by an Enderman.
The item, the Eclipse Clock, is practically pointless since it will only tell the one day, the one day in 30-300 Minecraft Days that will reveal the worst day to come. This suggestion adds too much and so little hope for players, and this goes to an extremely far limit of making mobs way too powerful than they need to be from how strong they can in Hard or Hardcore. This suggestion about Solar Eclipses has some potential, and making mobs substantially stronger at a degree for a certain event/time is interesting. But this suggestion is too extreme.

No support.
Maybe you're right..
i might overwhelmed with this a lot... maybe couple of changes might do the job
well thanks for pointing out the issues and i will be working on it to fix it
EDIT: fixed the op
I agree with Endergirl. All this does is punish the Player for staying alive, not really something anyone should do. This wouldn't be a challenge, this would be outright unfair against the Player. No support.
-not just that i think you didn't read all the post
-during eclipse, mobs loot will be increased
-Creepers might drop disks
-skeletons and zombies when wearing armor and get killed there is 45% more chance of getting the armor and with less damage
-Skeletons might drop their head
-no mobs will spawn in the caves (to make it coding possible we could make mobs not to spawn under 60 or 50 Y layer or less) this makes it perfect to go mining during an eclipse
-i admit that i made it a bit too extreme at the beginning but i will fix that and make it better...
so yeah i understand you
I would honestly love a challenge like this but I am sure many players won't like this.
Maybe this could be an option when creating a new world, for those like me who want a challenge can turn it on (by default it should be turned off)
and players that don't want it can leave it off.
I mean I have already done almost everything I could in Hardcore like kill the EnderDragon, Wither(many times) and even got a super charged creeper!
(of course there is a lot more things but I am not going to list everything) Hopefully the EnderDragon in 1.9 will be much harder =)
and also how would the Eclipse clock work?
also a few things changing to be a little less OP even for me like:
-Zombies only break glass, dirt, cobblestone (not smooth stone) and wood (is it all types of wood AND logs?) only if it is to get to you. (if this is what you were meaning please be more specific)
-Skeletons have a 15% chance to spawn with ONLY either the special arrows in 1.9 OR an enchantment of tier II (2) maximum (example power II (2))
-Make it so creepers will ONLY explode if it is trying to get to you and there is any blocks in it's way (it can see through blocks but not very far)
-make it so all mobs that can drop their head (in normal minecraft (skeleton, creeper, zombie etc) have the same amount of a chance to drop their head as a wither skeleton (the looting enchantment increases the chance)
-spiders have a 20% chance to spawn with a random ONE potion effect, either a bad one that it would give to who it is attacking or a good one that would help itself (the spider)A good effect that helps the spider lasts forever. Example: speed would give the spider speed infinity. Example: poison (maybe 5 seconds) would inflict the thing/player/mob the spider is attacking.
-The Enderman can only attack the player within a small radius like 10-15 blocks and once in aggro rang it can teleport and attack the player.

i thought to make it optional as well but i have seen lots of suggestions have this "optional" and nobody likes this...
Eclipse clock: when you right click it will open a map (like a map view when you have a map in your hand) and will show you how many says left till the eclipse and it duration..
-Zombies can only break Wooden planks (not logs) and glass cant break stone or cobblestone (i had edited the OP you might want to read it again)
-skeletons will be in normal arrows but 20% chance that they will shot arrows from 1.9 and for he enchantments, when you play minecraft you see some skeletons have enchanted bows so that won't change.. it will just make it more frequently
-creepers will explode near wooden planks and cobbles tone even if there wasn't a player near it
-i think making the skeleton only make more sense.. but maybe thats better
-yup exact point for spiders
-and again yes for the enderman.. but he can't teleport you.. thats just too extreme..
and thanks for the support (even if it's not full support)
I've looked over the suggestion, and I've seen some improvement but still problems. I'll first go over Creepers. Creepers randomly blowing up (whatever the block) is not the best idea (and seemingly I forgot to mention that when making my first response to this suggestion, apologies for not pointing that out.) But once again, this would make, making a house supposedly out of cobblestone or planks (which are the most likely blocks used in house-building) won't last long. Creepers blowing up randomly isn't the best idea. Secondly is Spiders, how they have the capabiliy to spawn with a potion of choice that will last infinitely. Since you listed a potion effect, you weren't exactly specific. So if a Spider were to spawn with Regeneration or Strength, they would pretty much be powerful to defeat. Regeneration would be considered a more important problem here, since it's ability to rapidly regenerate a player's or mobs health quickly to full.
Third and finally, I'd like to go over armour. This armour is basically an in-between armour, it has little durability but a boost to it. Which isn't exactly helpful during an apocalyptic event. Therefore, the armour is pointless to have. Overall, this suggestion still needs improvement in Spiders, Creepers, and I don't think a new armour should be really introduced here and basically used for only this particular day.

My reason still stands.
Oops my bad forget to edit the creeper part..
and as for spiders.. they will be like witches but won't have every potion
only strength and speed..
will throw slowness and poison at the player.. well on attack not throw..
This seems like a good suggestion... but it would be INSANELY hard to survive during the period of time.
I suggest leaving the mobs as they are. Maybe increasing the spawn rate and strength, leave the silverfish to only spawn in stone... and maybe, just MAYBE, have Zombie invasions occur frequently! And keep the eclipse clock...

Keep in mind that they do spawn with a random effect on a full moon (not that I exactly know how this works, this could even be a complete myth) so that's not really valid. I guess the effects they inflict on the player aren't as great of an idea.
As for the OP, awesome idea. I'd like days with more dangerous mob activity, giving more to do than killing over 9000 wither skeletons to make a 15th beacon. Some things could certainly be balanced out, but I support.
This is just a complete copy of terreria..... Also, it would just be another annoyance to a non-hardcore MC player to deal with the mobs. This should be, and only be, locked to the forge modding world.
Oh wow, this sounds pretty torturous. I like the lone concept of an Eclipse Day making everything different, but not jacking up mob spawns and how they act. My least favorite thing is zombies bashing wood and glass - that would be an awful add, because if my dream house I built includes being made of wood and lots of windows, then Eclipse Day is gonna roll by eventually and ruin everything.
You also mention how the zombie thing would let us "test our defenses". I'm sorry but I find that nonsensical. Defenses against what? Once our house is fully built and enclosed, we don't need any defenses because no hostile mobs bother us when we're in them. The only threat is if I let an exploding Creeper get to close.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
I'm supporting this kinda completely, But 2 More things
1. More New Cool Items
2. This should be so that it's at least 30 or 300 Days from the beginning + from the last game, as if it comes by random like for the first day, it's too much to handle. #TimingIsEverything!
Otherwise Great
-cool items like? i didnt know what to add more...
-no it will not start from your first day , once you enter the world there would be from 30 to 300 minecraft days till the eclipse//
And keep the eclipse clock...

this only lasts for one day and you could escape it by sleeping

do they really spawn with random effect during full moon?
and thanks for supporting, i wanted to have special day for all mobs but i couldn't find one better than this..
This is just a complete copy of terreria..... Also, it would just be another annoyance to a non-hardcore MC player to deal with the mobs. This should be, and only be, locked to the forge modding world.
No support.
i didn't play terreria but i dont think its completely the same and it only lasts for one day, its awesome that there is special good effects during the eclipse...
but if you don't want to support it's your choice
people have choices.. won't judge...
ok I honestly like hard things but Creepers randomly exploding... just no..
It would make random holes in your world and make things just look ugly but yes I do know this is for one day
I think it would be better if Creepers could see though blocks (maybe a radius of 15-20) to find you and if there is any blocks in the creepers way to get to you and no way around it, the creeper will explode breaking blocks towards you so that you can't hid in a 1x2 hole in the ground. I think this would be better then creepers randomly exploding around your world, anyone else think so?
Also REMINDER if this was to be added it should only be an option that you could turn on or off (default off) when creating a new world...
^^^If you like it Please add the above in your thread^^^

not a sucky idea for sure, but you need to remove the thing about enderman tping you. also silver fish should only spawn in stone
