This might have been mentioned before, but not in too much detail. So the suggestion is, that water needs different colours depending on where it is, how it is and when it is. This is in the game but it is hardly noticeable, it needs be more obvious and needs more types.
For example;
-In swamps it is green/brown
-In Snow biome it is Dark blue
-In Jungle it is Brown
-In Deserts it is Skyblue/oasis colour
-In caves/underground it is transparent
-In villager wells its transparent
-In sunset/sunrise the ocean is red/orange
-In night time the ocean is black
-In rain/storm its grey/dark grey
I Would hate to be a villager... drinking that blue stuff everyday...
If there's any more, please tell me, I will add it to this post.
I like this idea, and its realistic as well. I can see it being easy to do with just a bit of coding, since biomes also have various grass colours.

Yes this is exactly what i mean, grass have shading and why not water. the current minecraft has slight water shade in swamps how water becomes a little darker. But its not enough. (also why are you duplicating)
This idea sounds very cool, however, I would think that water in caves and in villager wells would have to be a separate block because the biome would already have a specific water to it and the water between normal water and well water would be the same thing normally. And caves might be done off of sea level now that I think about it.

This is the problem I've been thinking, and i have a solution, some blocks can detect if there is sunlight or not (such as daylight detector, crops). Water should have this ability and turn transparent when there are blocks over them. As wells have a roof covering over them, and caves... self explanatory.

It sounds like a lot of calculations to be done all at once especially with something like an ocean biome

I guess... but should be that bad if its only checking whether there is sunlight or not. witch means well water wont be as clear as underground one because there is still sunlight from the sides.
All biomes have a different water color along with a different sky color (Most noticeable when entering a jungle biome when looking at the sky)
So I suggest adding more colors dependent on all biomes... Which would be a lot, though.
Can the desert biome have a sky-blue/oasis color? Anyways, support. More aesthetics is always beautiful, and tend to be one of the things I enjoy the most...

Yes... it is in the game but hardly noticeable... the only obvious one i think is the water in swamp. its darker then the ocean. I'll add desert one to the OP.
This is an amazing idea that could add a lot of realism to the game. I'd love to see how these colors interact when two different colors of water meet. Like a cold biome meets a jungle biome or something along those lines.
Total Support of this! Always love when Minecraft adds stuff like this and this should definitely be in 1.9 or 1.10!

Edit: Forgot to say that I support this

This would add some aesthetics to the game. But wouldn't this affect lighting underwater and above water within the game?
Support.

I thought this was already in minecraft.
Well, anyways, it adds a level of realism that wouldn't hurt.
Support; realism doesn't impact gameplay, so it's ok.

This sounds like it would be absolutely beautiful.
However, I think it would work better as a graphics setting.
But other than that, I support this.
THE KITTY HAST BEEN RESURRECTED, AND LIVES ONCE MORE!
That's a great idea, it could be toggled in video settings
Yes!Exactly

*On phone with Jeb* okay. Uh hu. Alright. *hangs up* Guys, gonna be added in 1.9! Lol I love this idea. FULL SUPPORT
*sarcastic comment*
*disapproving look*
... Are you serious about that? I know you didn't really phone Jeb but... are they gonna add this in 1.9?
Anyway I support.
It's a combat update, but they always add little things in, too, so who knows?
Also: "You can only make 10 posts every 30 minutes", I did not know this. I'm surprised I didn't ever get this message.

Thanks guys for the support!!! Is this getting added in 1.9? probably not but i hope so.
I really hope this gets added
