Chickens follow you when you hold seeds. Cows and sheep follow when you use wheat. Pigs follow you when you use carrots. Why shouldn't villagers follow you when you hold Emeralds? As of right now, to transport villagers you have to push them or put them on a minecart track, which can be expensive. They would follow you just like animals do; slowly and intently, and lose interest if you get too far away. They would not return to their houses at night while they were focused. If they got out of range, they would wander around, or if they were close enough, return to the village.
The only reason why animals follow you when you hold a certain item is because they are ANIMALS. What you hold is basically food, and animals react in certain ways around food.
Villagers? No. These are people, not animals. (Closest thing we'll get to a human). They won't follow you for emeralds, they'll only trade for it.
Well you wouldn't follow someone out of town just because he is holding a one dollar coin, so why would they? It would be useful, I agree with that, but too unrealistic in my opinion.
I disagree with this. I mean, I get why animals follow the player when holding food. But villagers? They are doing it for personal gain. It's not like they are (mindless) animals (by Mindless I mean animals which are mindless, not animals are immediately 'mindless') As Sheep/Cows/Pigs/Horses(Rabbits?) eat the food, but emeralds are their currency.
They're not much smarter than regular animals, and I'd like to think of it as bribing a villager.

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!
I think it is good. Villagers that run into lava are just stupid like animals.
This is insulting. You're saying they're like animals because they run into lava, and you're a person that can also run into lava, but when you do, it's an accident. However, when they run into lava, they're stupid animals, despite the fact that they can build complex buildings, farm, and trade with you.
When i see lava, i take caution, block it off with stone and sneak. Villagers run in it without problems. The houses were not built by them, as well as farms. The farming self is very easy. And the trades... In reality, will you give somebody two emeralds for leather shoes??
What about 5 emeralds for shears?

Sorry, but I won't give you any support.
As of 1.8 you can BREED villagers by throwing food at them. It's been made clear by their intelligence that villagers aren't much. And anyways, if you went up to a person irl and started coaxing them with a stack of bills, you'd probably have some followers.
And anyways, we're kinda getting into a whole lore thing of "Oh, the villagers built this and they're real people, etc, etc." We're talking about gameplay usage. It's not like villagers are actually respected as people.

I think it would be handy to have some command or something to allow villagers to follow you, I mean that would be very useful in adventure maps and just for fun. But I disagree with emeralds. If villagers are as close as it gets to humans then I don't think leading them with money is good.
Post your tweaks or compliments below. Thanks

So basically, I'm stupid.
