Have you ever wanted a furnace that can cook/hold more items, or a furnace with a neat attribute? Ever found it annoying how long it takes for a furnace to smelt a single item? Each of the furnaces will be crafted with a regular furnace in the middle of the crafting area, with 8 of the item surrounding it. I don't have very high expectations for this, but imo, it's worth a try. Each furnace variant will have a similar color/ texture to the block of the item. For example: The emerald furnace would have the jewel pattern that the emerald block has, except with the furnace holes.
Redstone Furnace: When cooking, this furnace can send a redstone signal of up to 16 blocks worth of distance on redstone wiring. This furnace can be mined with any pickaxe.
Coal Furnace: This furnace has two slots for fuel. This furnace can be mined with any pickaxe. This furnace cooks 18% faster than a regular furnace.
Iron Furnace: This furnace has two slots for smelting items, and it has two slots for fuel as well. This furnace can be mined with any pickaxe. This furnace cooks 30% faster than a regular furnace.
Quartz Furnace: This furnace has three slots for smelting items, as well as fuel. This furnace can be mined with a stone, iron, or diamond pickaxe. This furnace cooks 45% faster than a regular furnace.
Emerald Furnace: This furnace has five slots for smelting items, as well as fuel. This furnace can only be mined with either an iron, or a diamond pickaxe. This furnace cooks 65% faster than a regular furnace.
Lapis Lazuli Furnace: This furnace has eight slots for smelting items, as well as fuel. This furnace can be mined with a stone, iron, or diamond pickaxe. This furnace cooks 88% faster than a regular furnace.
Golden Furnace: This furnace has nine slots for smelting items, as well as fuel. This furnace can be mined with any pickaxe. This furnace's smelting rate is twice as fast as the regular furnace's smelting rate.
Diamond Furnace: This furnace has ten slots for smelting items, as well as fuel. It also has two times more blast resistance than cobblestone. This furnace can only be mined with either an iron, or a diamond pickaxe. This furnace smelts 20% faster than the golden furnace.
Amethyst Furnace: The mother of all furnaces. This furnace can only be acquired in nether dungeons, and has a 1 in 30 chance of spawning in the nether dungeon chests. It can smelt 1,280 items at once, (20 full stacks), and it smelts twice as fast as a diamond furnace. This furnace can only be mined with either an iron, or a diamond pickaxe. Also, it emits a powerful violet glow as a perk of owning this furnace.

Well, I think it would be neat if something like this were added, but I wouldn't cry if it wasn't :3

White coats to bind me, out of control
I live alone inside my mind
World of confusion, air filled with noise
Who says that my life's such a crime?
Trapped in this nightmare
I wish I'd wake
As my whole life begins to shake
four walls surround me
an empty gaze
I can't find my way out of this maze
'Cause I don't care
Fall in, fall out
Gone without a doubt, help me
I can't take the blame
They don't feel the shame
It's a madhouse
Or so they claim
It's a madhouse
Oh, am I insane?
My fears behind me, what can I do
My dreams haunt my sleep at night
Oh no, won't learn their lesson, white fills my eyes
And only then they see the light
Emeralds can be easily acquired from villagers. Emerald ore is the rarest ore in minecraft, but you can trade with a villager for so much as 16 coal for an emerald.

True, that's why I didn't say anything about diamonds. But gold is definetely more common then emerald, even with villager trading. And lapis may be a little rare, but the moment you have Fortune, you're set for life.
You can exchange a few pieces of gold for an emerald, but you can't get gold, or any gold stuff through villager trading, unlike diamond and iron. And imo, the trades for iron/diamond weaponry/tools are sort of a rip-off in general.

It isn't entirely necessary to have variants of furnaces, perhaps just one that is difficult and costly to get would suffice. This feels like it would be more suitable for a mod, and not really viable for vanilla Minecraft seeing as how different types of furnaces or something of that ilk is redundant when players have been getting by using the regular furnaces since the inchoate stages of the game.
Similar to what the poster above me mentioned briefly, an end-game furnace would be nifty, but not a necessity.
I only like the redstone furnace idea. That would actually be really cool to see implemented... even though you can just hook up a furnace to a BUD switch.
I would not want to see any of the other ones though, they feel too overpowered; especially the netherrack one.
The Netherrack one is out of the question. That's just way too overpowered for one of the most abundant blocks in Minecraft.
3 or 4 slots maximum. More than that is just ridiculously much.
I don't like how you want to make a furnace variant of every possible block for no real reason. One or maybe two new ones is enough, not nine. It's just a furnace.
I don't. If that was the case, I would've added a dirt and sand furnace.
I removed the netherrack furnace, and I'm thinking of replacing it with a less abundant material, but not one that would be random.

There is absolutely no need for any new kind of furnace. Having multiple furnaces is enough, and having hoppers is a bonus.
The only one I like is the redstone one (though that needs some more explaining due to the different states redstone has), the others are just blatantly overpowered. Having a bunch of normal furnaces do your work can accomplish quite a lot. Imagine having all these other beefy furnaces at once. It's too much.
I'd recommend suggesting sidegrade furnaces instead of pure upgrade ones.

I was thinking about efficient furnaces, furnaces that wouldn't take up too much space, furnaces with special attributes, like the redstone furnace, furnaces with unique patterns and colors, as well as a furnace that fits in with the design theme of your house, and more. Being a little more powerful than a slow, regular furnace isn't overpowered. Also, all of these items are a lot more rare than cobblestone. Overpowered is when one furnace cooks 10 items in less than a second.

Nothing wrong with that. The aesthetic parts that is.

"A little more powerful"? You're completely missing the bigger picture by a mile 8 miles. Cobblestone furnaces are cheap but you can make tons of them. It's not hard to split up the workload between them thus shortening the workload for each one. Even moreso when you got hoppers and even more than that when you got furnaces connecting hoppers to chests.
You're using overgeneralized statements to explain how your furnaces aren't overpowered. That's not how you disprove someone. Even having a bunch of coal furnaces is pushing it, since coal is not hard to find.
Also, resource wise, it'd be kinda stupid to use up a diamond to make a furnace when... again... a bunch of cobblestone furnaces and hoppers get it done, so I could use that diamond for something else more important.

When I said a little more powerful, I was talking about the coal and quartz furnaces, which are also cheap. That still doesn't change the fact that a cobblestone furnace smelts 6 items in over a minute. A lot of these furnaces could get the job well done without having to take up too much space. And these are more efficient, and compact systems that can smelt different types of items at once, instead of having to have extra furnaces to complete that task, that hog space.
How are they overgeneralized?
Diamonds have a minimal amount of uses, and while those large piles of cobblestone furnaces may be able to smelt 640 items at once, they would smelt 2.4 times slower than a single diamond furnace.

You're joking right? In a game where we can make our homes any size and shape we want, each furnace taking up one block each is not gonna kill anyone. You're basically doing what you did in your Lapis thread, you're bringing up subjective reasons that don't boost the integrity of your idea at all.
Any furnace with an extra slot is pointless because... like we've been repeating for many posts. HOPPERS.
How are they overgeneralized?
You said your furnaces were "a little more powerful" and then because of that, claimed that nothing was overpowered. Not realizing that it all adds up in the end once players create more than one of these furnaces.

There it is again, the subjective reasoning. Diamonds are rare, and are used in making the strongest tools and armor, which are even stronger when used with an enchantment table, another thing that requires diamonds to craft. Just because diamonds aren't used to craft that many things, doesn't automatically mean they still can't be easily wasted.

Some people are good at finding diamonds. As a matter of fact, 1.8 made diamonds 24% more common by default. Also, you missed the point: I was trying to say that there are multiple slots for smelting items, not smelted. I meant to say that you're trying to make a furnace of so many different materials, while it's completely unnecessary. There's just no point in an upgrade system for furnaces, because they're just furnaces. You know, all they do is smelting blocks.
There's a level system in armor and swords because getting more powerful armor is necessary to survive and beat the game.
For furnaces, all the level system would do is increase efficiency. It would be a good addition if the game would be called Autocraft instead of Minecraft, where, instead of surviving, automatizing everything is what you're supposed to do.
I just think this whole idea is something that would be good for a mod, with more automatizing stuff like this, for people who like building factories and things like that. But it shouldn't be added to the main game, just because it's not necessary at all.
They would be good for getting more fried meat in less time, as well as getting that xp from the furnace faster, and their speed and heating capacity allow more possibilities for survival builds. Also, they could go better with some of the houses' design themes.
