I doubt minecraft even kept records on when each individual player made their account. I think you should check if that is a thing before this discussion goes any further.
It does. cration dates are a basic standard of account records. Go to the mojang site and log in, you can see when you created your account.

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
No real honor to be had. I may have a fairly comprehensive knowledge of what is in the game and how to get it, but when it comes to building things, redstone or otherwise, I am rather mediocre.
There really is no reason to create such a distinction between players, because then it will undoubtedly breed into a level of elitism. It wouldn't be long before you see a server requiring people who have been around for X number of years. It is similar to the age restriction debate, though on a smaller level, where your time having played the game doesn't equate to your ability within it.
How long you've played Minecraft is really only a badge of honor to yourself. Sure some people are like "wow, you've been playing for a while", but once that reaction wears off a minute later, nothing has changed. So there really is no reason to try and force a distinction between players, especially after this long. It would just be bad for the community overall.
Ages of playing does not mean skill, but means maturity level. I explained why in one post above. And yes, adults can start playing Minecraft now, and they of course won't have badge so server ages restrict is not possible. And I must say that I don't have anything against servers for only old players, maybe they won't know how to play game but they all will be mature and won't flame/insult for no reason like kids in this thread are doing.
Edit: And you want us to know that you are playing since Alfa because you have that in signature. Like I want..
I'll say right now, the odds of getting a forum title here are slim to none. While we are the official forum, we don't really have a direct connection to Mojang plus this would require us needing every single person's username and password to verify their identity. We could just use their join date on here, but there are thousands of accounts that don't have a player account because they play cracked or in some cases don't play at all. So that kind of defeats the purpose if it is to show who is more experienced unless we can actually tie these accounts to Minecraft accounts.
All in all I don't really agree with this. My reward for starting years ago was a cheaper game and more hours of fun playing it. Plus more time contributing to the community. Thats enough for me.

I'm not saying I am against age restrictions either, however, you can not completely judge someone's maturity on their age. To an extent, you can, but not always.
If you think that because someone is an adult means they won't cause problems, you are very very mistaken.
To put into perspective, I am 24, and I will gladly spend an entire day popping bubble wrap and laughing at little kids falling and getting hurt. And I have also acquired a couple infractions on these forums for flaming, one such instance being I questioned someone's maturity level and asked them if they were 8 years old... (I blame stingy rules, but point still stands) However, for the most part, I like to think that when it comes down to it, I can be responsible and mature, but there are always times when things just get the better of me. It happens to us all.

We all have bad moments but kids have "bad years". If you know what I mean.

Yes, I completely understand what you mean. But not all are bad apples. This is where the problems begin, and I don't feel it is Mojang's place to officially create something that can be used to effectively discriminate against other members, just because they've only played the game for a few months.
With something like this, I feel the only acceptable solution is trial and error. You can gain a good sense of what someone is like based on how they talk/type, which I think is a good first measure. if i tlk lik dis, den i probs not good, but if you can tell I am taking care in what I type, then I am probably a good candidate for consideration.
The Minecraft Dev team used to promise that Alpha users would receive an incentive for paying for the game while it was in early Alpha. Later on they hinted Alpha users would get a cape.
Eventually the whole notion of early-adoption incentives were completely forgotten.

That incentive was that any DLCs made available for the game would be free. There was no "promise" of features like capes. Musings on twitter about the possibility of a feature do not comprise a promise of delivery of that feature.

Yes, I agree with that. What you think about age verification and than servers with age restrictions? Kids cannot play on them but they will have a ton of others.

Nice to hear that they had that on mind. What was with that idea? Anyone know?
Yes, I agree with that. What you think about age verification and than servers with age restrictions? Kids cannot play on them but they will have a ton of others.
Ill start by saying that I have zero problem with servers wanting to restrict access based on age, and that I do think age does play a part in overall matruity, however age is not the only factor.
I don't want to turn this into the age debate all over again, so I will keep this brief.
Personally, I would almost always opt for a server, regardless of the game, if there is an 18+ option. This restriction does help eliminate some of the issues with kids, including spamming, griefing, and overall stupidity. I would hope, however, that the server does not hold that age limit as a strict guide, because I have seen some servers that were 18+, but everyone on there were just circle-jerking and overall... not so present to be around.
The main reason why I would prefer an 18+ server stems from the fundamental difference between myself and someone who is under 18. I am 24, have a child, working, going to school, and stressing about money and gas prices. In fact, just last week, I had to barrow money to be able to get gas to make it to work. There are very very few kids under 18, who could relate to me in any way, shape, or form. There are very few kids who have had the same life experiences as myself, so for me to try and communicate on any intellectual level with someone who is, say, 14 years old, is just weird and borderline creepy. There are kids around here who are a whole decade younger then me, or maybe even 15 years younger. Our mindsets just can't even begin to meld on a meaningful level.
Its not about wanting to cuss, or tell dirty jokes, or "I am older, so I am smarter", or anything like that. It is simply about not being able to connect almost anyone in that age group. Our life experiences just don't sync.
However, despite this, that is not to say that I don't or won't communicate or play with younger people. There are some kids who do understand many aspects of adult life and some that can relate to some of the stresses. I just use 18+ servers as a general guide to increase my odds of finding some place that will be fun and fitting for me.
Ok, so there is "brief", and there is "hopped up on ritalin brief". Take a stab at which one this is...

Exactly that! And to be honest, that's why I want that badge, too see with who I can spend some free time (that I don't have plenty). And if they give us that, and someone became jealous that's his problem. Mentally problem because this is only game and most of us are playing it to relax a bit in ocean of problems in our lives, not to compete who have money for Minecon and who is immature/mature.
This is true. Back when I used to play on servers, I never even thought about the age of other players. I was discussing with another older member (one of my friends) about some stuff I had bought recently (games, software, computer hardware, etc.) and suddenly another player chimed in "your parents spoil you".
And say to me now, isn't that badge/cape,item that make us different SOME of the ways to solve that?
Edit: There is plenty of ways, that is just one of them.
Not really since there are plenty of younger folks who started playing in alpha/beta.
By the way, I am 33 years old and enjoy spending time with some kids on servers or on this forum. Others are really annoying, but that's life for you... some people just are annoying no matter what age they are.
I actually didnt want to post in this thread anymore because of some really annoying participants here but then BC and echonite showed me the positive side of this community again. Thank you guys for that!
Maybe you do, but not all of us does. And yes, there are good people here, you just need to find them.
I have been playing since the horse update came out, and i'd be really dissapointed if I found out that all people playing since beta get 64 diamond blocks on all of their survival worlds...

In what way? If you don't mind me asking.
It hard to believe someone who is 10 years younger then me could relate to me experiences on the same fundamental level.
