The /tp command teleports relative to the player anyway; you don't need an execute. But in answer to your question, you need radii for both commands, and then have to be within the radius.

I finally got this sorted out. The command that works turned out to be
execute @a X Y Z /tp @a[r=2] ~ ~6 ~
replacing X Y Z with the position of the player(s) to be teleported
To accomplish what I want to (simulating an elevator) I do need the execute command. Since the command blocks that do the teleporting and open & close doors will be located somewhere away from the elevator room, they need to execute the commands at a different position.
The latest snapshot is actually 1.8.2 pre6. Also, I can't open my command block interface for some reason.

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!

If it is hooked up to a clock every time it becomes false, it says the same message it said the first time it failed. It just means that it is false now.
Like if you place a blank command block on a clock, it will say unknown command as an error message even though there is no command in it. So if you put a command in it and it becomes true then goes false again, it will tell you unknown command. It's a silly way for the command block to say HELLO i FAILED but only because you didn't make it true. Do you understand? XD It will work again it just says it failed because you weren't around to make it work.
x1 y1 z1 is the first lowest corner of the object
x2 y2 z2 is the farthest upper corner of the object
x y z is where you will place the object. It will place the lowest NORTHWEST corner of the object first, then the rest will show up.
Quote from Leihcbonejump Is there a way to add all of the mobs the @e[type=...] command? I've created the fireball from the Mario games, when I throw a snowball, it will place (setblock) fire near an entity. But the fire has to kill the mobs, not a player.
Not that I am aware of unless you want each command block for each mob. But you could use the scoreboard command.
Any player around the snowball will have their score set to 1 and /effect @a[score_nofire_min=1] 12 3 1 true
You can change the 3 to whatever number. It's the length of time the effect will last, in seconds i believe and the 1 is the level but I don't think Fire resistance relies on level so giving it a level of 2 won't do anything more. And true means it will hide the effect particles.
EDIT: Man this multi quote thing is not working for me XD

No, but you can do [type=!Player], which targets everything except players. This will target all other entities, however, including paintings, items, minecarts, etc.
It tells the entity or player to make that entity or player do the command for you. It also allows for the entity or player to find another entity or player and makes them do the command.
execute @p ~ ~ ~ say Hello
This makes the nearest player to ~ ~ ~ say Hello in chat.
execute @e[type=Wolf] ~ ~ ~ execute @p[r=5] ~ ~ ~ say Come here..
This makes the Wolf (where it is at) to make the nearest Player within 5 blocks of that Player's coordinates (where ever they are) say Come here.. in chat.
I have this constant problem, where the repeater that is supposed to be powering it, only powers it once, and never powers it again, leaving me with the message:
Unknown command. Try /help for a list of commands.
The repeater I'm using is the one where you place a powering block (I use the redstone block) and place a comparator in subtraction mode in front of it. Then I put the redstone around the comparator, it looks like the picture I've attached below.
Yes, I have tried other types of repeaters.
I tried powering the command block coming from a different angle, and for some reason it works....like 20% of the time...
This thing has annoyed me for too long, and I REALLY need help because I actually can't use command blocks 80% of the time.
Is this a bug? Can it not be fixed? please help.
Hi there.
This problem I have with every single command so sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place.

The proper word you mean to use is "clock" a repeater is an actual block in minecraft.
This clock should work, but personally, I have the same issue whenever I tried to use it back before we had /fill clocks. Just use a /fill clock.
The second command block should be placed 1 block past the first one in the Z direction and one less along the Y. Then place a redstone block so that it is touching both command blocks. This should activate the clock, you will know it's working because any of the redstone blocks that appear can be broken and are immediately replaced. Now simply place your command block touching one of the redstone blocks.

Try taking the slash off of testforblocks.
Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!
My command is
execute @a[575,66,675] ~ ~ ~ /tp @a[575,66,675] ~ ~4 ~
The problem is that this command works even when I'm not in the right position.
I tried specifying a radius like this
execute @a[575,66,675,2] ~ ~ ~ /tp @a[575,66,675] ~ ~4 ~
but then it doesn't work at all, and no error is given in the command block.
I've also tried
execute @a[x=575,y=66,z=675,r=2] ~ ~ ~ /tp @a[575,66,675] ~ ~4 ~
but then I get Failed to execute 'say @a[575,66,675,2] hello' as sjsquirrel
And now it gets strange. I accidentally left out the = in r=2 like this
execute @a[x=575,y=66,z=675,r2] ~ ~ ~ say @a[575,66,675] hello
and then it works, but again no matter what my position.
Anybody smarter than me got an answer?
TIA
