So I was just doing some stuff with elytra and after looking at the word for a bit I started to wonder where it came from: A pun? Something spelled backwards? An acronym? A play on words? Some private joke that only mojang employees find funny? The username of the minecraft player who suggested them? What? Am I the only one who's thought about this?
The elytra, however, are comparatively long narrow structures which occupy a position in front of the wings, of which they may be regarded as forming the anterior parts.
