According to minecraft.net the only thing 1.12.1 did was fix two bug, "Make some opimizations" and do something with the credits, couldn't they just have waited on fixing that until they have something to add or maybe a little more to fix? I just seems kind of pointless to have such a small update, what were the "opimizations" anyway? It's only a "sub" update since it only changes the last number but wouldn't it have made more sense to wait until there was more?

Why not? This stops users from experiencing the bugs anymore, and makes the game run a bit better. It was fully finished and ready to release.. Why would they wait for more?

Well because that's not what many people look for in an update, to the average minecraft player an update means new stuff and while bugs fixes are nice it just seems strange to make a whole new update to fix two bugs...

But most people don't expect a new major update two months after the last major update. There are only, like, three major updates a year, and sometimes less than that (1.9 for example, took about a year and a half to be fully released). It's also kinda dumb to make a bug fix update, ready to ship, but then decide, "nah, we'll wait for 1.13, it's not like bugs are a problem in the game that need to be fixed"

I'd have to agree with everyone else, dude. Sorry. Simple fact is, these bugs might not be a real concern to most Minecraft players, but whenever there's a bug, there's always that really tiny portion of the playerbase that, because of the bug and whatever else, can't play at all, and for them, the bug fix can usually save them from having to upgrade their hardware or spending unnecessary money just so they can play the game they already paid $27 for.
It was an X.X.1 update, which are usually just reserved for bug fixes, with the occasional new feature. It seems odd to be bothered by it now when they have been doing it for years. And when a bugfix drops depends upon the severity of the bug being fixed, so if they only had a few fixes it was likely serious.

Don't underestimate the importance of .x bug fix updates. 1.12 was unplayable on my pc and now with 1.12.1 I can play again. Those "optimizations" fixed it for me.

Just curious, that's all.
