I'm confused There is nothing on the Mojang site that says the newest spot light is 1.11. The twitter post says they are working on bugs fixes and 1.11 update. Doesn't that mean that the bug fixes could very well be 1.10 fixes because they were clear no new news on the 1.11 update would be give till sept minecon? I guess I'm asking why everyone is assuming that the spotlight is a 1.11 spotlight.

No one is assuming. They've literally stated it's the first 1.11 snapshot. Here and here
If that isn't enough, from Mojang.com; "While we plan to keep larger new features as a surprise to reveal at Minecon, some of the smaller changes will make it into snapshots in the following next weeks. And this snapshot has…"
pretty much fills in any mis-conceptions. The devs have made it a point this is exactly what they were doing for 1.11, so to mention that in a 1.10 snapshot is just completely out of place.
I guess they could be 1.10 snapshots, but when you're focusing on organizing a game and trying to build up hype for the next version, for both reasons you'd want to push them off into 1.11

While I did find those post interesting reading and they did seem to point in that direction they don't really say the snapshots are 1.11. Slightly bigger then 1.10 which was the fastest update to date seems to mean there going to push for another fast update. Seems like maybe they should have taken more time with 1.10. Why can't they just admit they are working on 2.0 already or working towards that so we can get some modded mod pack out. rofl

Because they're not?
2.0 would be an entirely new game. Decimals and version numbers are different. Decimals slowly increase to the next number, version numbers work in a format.
1.10.2, for example. 1 is the release number. Minecraft has only had one release, with no proper sequels, so it stays there. 10 is the number of major release. Since 1.0, there have been a total of 10 major updates and counting. 2 is a minor release. Bug fixes and very small additions to fix certain things and whatnot. 1.10 has had 2 bug fix releases, so that explains 1.10.2.
2.0 insists the game was completely overhauled and/or rewritten.
Included in 1.11, but only deals 1 point of damage
Time to destroy the planet with wasteful glass emissions!

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
Alright, so the Wiki already informs us that, oddly enough, maps currently don't work in The End. That means this picture appears on the surface to confirm only that maps are going to become a bit more useful.
HOWEVER, my deduction is that there's a few more secrets hidden in this screenshot. Look a little closer, there are brown rectanguloids on one part of the rim of the off-center island, and those things aren't widespread enough to be chorus plants! I think those brown pixels hint at a new structure. I mean, why else would they be in Jeb's screenshot?
Think about it; chorus plants don't generate in small insignificant bunches like that, and there's no way Jeb would be building random pillars with in-game Minecraft controls if he was just going to move away from them and take a single screenshot with something else heavily overshadowing it. We already know that Mojang Co aren't letting on any information until Minecon, but I know they just love slipping grains of sand through the gap under the door (I think it also directly happened in a recent tweet). I really think those dots near the center wouldn't exist if they didn't mean something.
There's also random shadowy things around some of the edges of some islands, but I don't think that's anything other than the map's render style.

At first i believed that picture to be a vanilla poisonous block.... Like some kind of ender spore block that oozed out liquid nastiness.
Now that I look at it and its a stupid map....
*sigh*

Because spider eyes are poisonous >.>
Dude, they should totally make it possible to turn spider eyes into some kind of block. They'd be way more useful that way. I mean, I've got 138 spider eyes sitting in my chest that I can do nothing with, unless I want to waste hours collecting glass for hundreds of unnecessary poison potions. I really think everything Minecraft gives you obscene amounts of with very little use should have a building block version to have fun with. I mean, we've already got bone blocks, thank god. I certainly hope they do more of that, especially if it means they cure my flint excess. It only makes sense. The game's basically about building, so that really should be the end goal of many items.
(Here's hoping they don't delete my post again. Oh man... D:)

My idea was more along the lines of this:
And actually having poisonous products come from something that is actually poisonous. Like a spore, or a stinger, or ground up witches.
Venom is not poison, and I have no idea how "spider eye" = poison, because is doesn't.
But come to find out... that's a map :x
No love for necrotic spore ooze, (which would explain why there aren't trees in the end):
Well, I mean, any poison block you can craft using spider eyes and some other cheap ingredients would be cool. Even if it's not 100% spider eyes and there's something else in it, that would still be cool.
Updates about 1.11 and what may be in it have slowed down. I check the Searge, Jeb, and Dinnerbone tweets frequently, and neither they nor the wiki say anything new about the upcoming version of the game as of the map being posted. But I'm keen to wait.

i dont approve the shield change... it make the player "invulnerable like" for as long as he keeps the right button on lol... i agree to reduce dmg to 100% but TOTALLY REMOVE damage from creeper explosion, armelss zombies makes the game going silly into fight side. at least double the amount of damage a shield get when absorb damage at least force players to have a backup plan ready lol...
Just a reminder. This thread is for discussing confirmed information from Mojang about 1.11 or upcoming snapshots. Suggestions or ideas for Minecraft should be posted to the Suggestions forum section.
Minecon's going to arrive with all the news this weekend! Are you excited?
Personally what gets me most is the thought of seeing the livestream. There is a livestream, right? Last year I watched one just as they were revealing End Cities in it, and pretty soon I was taking screenshots of that stuff for the other News and Updates thread. It's amazing how you can never accurately imagine what they're going to announce that the next version will have, but a few months later when you've already played the new Minecraft update for a while, everything seems mundanely familiar.

I think someone on Reddit debunked that those are just unexplored parts of the map.

I think being able to map the End is an awesome addition.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
