Since when is 1.8 being disappointing a fact? 1.8 was helpful to some and not so much to others. I personally think that 1.8 was good because I can make a lot of maps now! I respect your opinion, but 1.8 being disappointing is NOT a fact, considering there are- this is going to blow your mind- people that like the update. If everyone hated the update (which will never happen, as there will be that one person that likes the update), then it could be considered a fact.
I did not mean to say that "that the 1.8 update was very disappointed in many different ways" in a fact way I meant to say it as a opinion and only opinion and thank you for respecting it
I like parts of 1.8... I've found it very glitchy though. For some reason the entity of the sea monster thing comes into the ground and chases my guy around on ever survival map I play on 1.8.
That sounds very interesting and I do agree with you on that when you said "I like parts of 1.8" I can very much agree with that
1.8 honestly didn't give that much, considering that it took a whole year. The most worthy thing I found out of the updates was the new ocean guardians, which were actually pretty neat. But a lot of the stuff like the armor stands or the commands, I really don't find much interest in; plus it isn't that great since it took a whole damn year.
How in the world are armor stands useful? Why the heck would you want to show off your armor? It doesn't make much sense to be, TBH. Seems like nothing but a pointless scarecrow or a closet. I know that in ancient times there were armor stands, but it just doesn't make sense in Minecraft.
Also I don't get these crap load of summon commands; don't see how they are useful either.
Other stuff they added:
- Granite, Andesite and Diorite stone blocks with smooth versions
- Slime Block
- Iron Trapdoor
- Prismarine and Sea Lantern blocks
- Ocean Monument
- Red Sandstone
- Banners
- Coarse Dirt
- Guardian mobs with item drops
- Endermite mob
- Rabbit with item drops
- Mutton and Cooked Mutton
- Spectator Game Mode
- New achievement
- Customized world type
- Hidden "Debug Mode" world type
- New commands
- New player model
- New options for configuration
^ Now this seems like a lot of stuff, but considering that it took a whole year.....I'm just really not impressed. Also, many of the features that Mojang implemented were taken from mods, such as armor stands. In fact, Mojang was actually going to get Optifine into the game but the creator of Optifine didn't allow it.
I really expected more, such as an overhaul to the terrain generator. I know that in the previous update there were many new biomes added, but I and many others for a few years wanted more variation and hilly terrain. And no, amplified just creates a mess that doesn't even make variance/sense. Or just something that would actually change Minecraft.
If you're not disappointed with 1.8 you'd have to be wilfully ignorant of the complete and total train wreak that it is.
It took A YEAR to complete. Just think about that for a second. There is hardly any new content to speak of, certainly nothing meaningful. The lag is absolutely B.R.U.T.A.L. It's crippling game breaking lag. Then to top it all off Mojang said forget the API we have promised for YEARS, kicked Minecraft out the door and sold out to MS after trashing huge game companies on countless occasions. Then Notch blames the community/his customers (which played a huge role in his success) in his typical immature manner for selling out and takes his 2.5 bill and runs. Notch ripped everyone off with the "official" release by releasing it pre-maturely to absolve himself of any contractual liability and then goes on to throw his loyal fans under the bus when he blamed them for why he sold out to MS. I'm sure 2.5 BILLION DOLLARS has nothing to do with it.... it was all because Notch got some nasty e-mails. Give me a break. He's a baby. At least have enough spine to own up to your own decisions.
Somehow Mojang never fails to lower the bar just that much further. It may seem like an impossible task, but I assure you that's the only thing could can predict with certainty when it comes to Mojang.
EDIT:
Oh, and they messed up Bukkit too by sticking their dirty fingers in the middle of that as well.

All of what you have just said is very true. Everything you have said is true and a fact. Yes this time I mean a fact!

Yes, yes, just, yes. Everything about that is there mere truth. 1.8 is actually neigh unplayable for me, with my FPS capping out at 30 once, and with its normal FPS at a mere 5 FPS.

i think we should all use common sense and logic when we answer and ask a question but always stay open minded
just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed

Espurrcally with the mods. Now Forge and all the mods are going onto 1.8, which means that I can't play them due to the lag..

1.7 beta was the best version, but as far as popularity the 1.7 official release was Minecraft's peak.
i can not agree anymore with you like we think the same lol

Why can't we just let this thread die? All of this is opinion based. All the points have been stated. This is basically the Five Nights at Freddy's 2 prequel sequel argument and stuff like the "console wars". if you don't like 1.8, fine, but let this thread die.
The ironic part is that it's people like you who will NEVER let this thread die and fyi, the majority of this thread is not opinion based although that's what you WANT to believe. Roughly 1/2 of the community is experiencing game breaking issues. Also being equally as ironic the majority of the opinion based remarks that I see are coming from people like yourself.
Only real improvement other than adding real blocks to 1.7.4 was just the new player model, new layers for skins (2nd layer for everything, not just head) and some other minimal stuff. As you said, it's pretty odd that it took them one entire year to do this.
Mojang Overdid the Creative thoughts and left the realistic Part in the ground i think Mojang should start focusing on the realistic and important views of the game.

I'm sure it's not easy generating ideas, either.
