Is there anyone else who doesn't like the weapon charge up introduced in 1.9??? It drives me crazy. Am I the only one? I heard there might be a way to turn it off, I hope they take it out in future versions.

I like it, and I know there are a lot of other people who like it, too. It's just that the majority can't accept change (there are some who legitimately don't like it, however). I was annoyed with it at first, but I found out, it's not that big a change. Like, you have to wait half a second to hit. And even if you don't wait, you can still hit, just not wth as much power. Not a huge change.

He was talking about how to disable it, not asking to be converted to pro 1.9.
OP: You need to either A) edit the swords you have via commands to have no cooldown or B ) give yourself Haste 255.
Basically it's like an attack interval. Most other games would require the swinging animation to finish before you can strike again. Minecraft gives you more flexibility with this since you can attack quicker for less damage but with the same knockback. I am particularly fond of it. It might not be much to be called the 'combat update' but at least winning PvP battles doesn't come down to who can click the fastest on the other person.

I don't play "most other games", in fact Minecraft is essentially the only game I play, It may be that "SuperSonicMiner" was right and that I just don't like change (that is somewhat true) but I've had to revamp my entire attack strategy and I used to be able to kill creepers with one rapid attack, now, needless to say, I can't do that.

I like the new combat system it helps with the spam-clicker and fast clicker hackers. and I loved it and I still trying to be the pro with this system.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you can "master" the combat of a game with any free software that imitates mouse clicks every millisecond, then the combat doesn't take any actual skill. Sure you can use the same software to click every 0.6 seconds, but being accurate each attack counts more when each miss leaves you open for half a second than being able to attack 100 times per second at full damage with no negative repercussions.

1.9 came out a while ago, we've got 1.11 now. Most people will prefer one or the other, because it provides different things and makes you able to do certain things or not able to do other things. They don't dislike it because they dislike change, they dislike it because they dislike the fighting style.
I definitely prefer 1.8 over 1.9, 1.10, and 1.11. In some ways, I even prefer 1.6 over 1.8 (old cool terrain, cool caves). Some of the newer blocks don't really fit in with the game, and shields are definitely unfair. They make bows very useless, and absorb too much damage; if you combine that with the new potion arrows, that basically means that if you're a newb and you don't have a shield, bows will be very overpowered against you; but if you do have a shield, they do nothing. Honestly the new combat update doesn't really make players more creative with their pvp choices, and for mini games and pvp servers it kind of ruins it. I liked the old sword blocking and actually made good use out of it, it saved me in a lot of tricky situations.
*sigh* there are too many threads like this. Just give yourself a command block, set it to "repeat" and "always active", then set the command to "/effect @p minecraft:haste 1 255 true". There you go; the cooldown is gone.

I actually use 1.7.10 almost all the time! Yes, the shields are a bit weird but I don't mind the potion arrows, my only qualm about them is why would you want an arrow with a healing effect when, by definition, arrows are meant to hurt!

Just curious, that's all.

It's better this way. Anybody who tells them self spam-clicking wasn't abundant is kidding themselves.
Looks like I am the only one.

I think it is ok. I think hitting a creeper 5 times with a Diamond Sword before it dies is a tad annoying... A wooden sword would do that much damage.
Galaxy Wars: GIT REKT
Murder Mystery: GIT REKT!
Beware when I am Murderer... there is a 95% chance I will crush the match.
(Unless someone panic-jitter shoots a bow at me)
FALSE.
A wooden sword deals 5 damage. That would take 8 hits. A diamond sword deals 8 damage. That takes 5.

Not event that Skullzion...
Creepers have only 20 health (10 hearts) and wooden swords deal 5 damage (2.5 hearts) so they will only need 4 hits.
Meanwhile a diamond sword deals 8 damage (4 hearts) so they will take 3 hits, or one crit and one normal hit.
Yeah, you're right. I thought hearts were damage for a second, was confused.

Why do we need weapon charges when we can use the summon or kill command?
We can but technically that's cheating, so is using a command block for that matter.
