Back on an old survival server, my friend had this amazing treehouse that he and I lived in. One of its features was this two story farm that was built inside of a glass dome. The lower story had wheat, carrots, and potatoes while the upper story had sugar cane. There was also a three block high ladder that let us climb up and down between the two floors. Unfortunately, the world got reset and the server also shut down so that treehouse is gone. On a new server, I've been attempting to rebuild the treehouse and I've done a pretty good job (especially since I have no screenshots/videos of it and am basing it strictly off of memory) and my next goal is to make the farm. However, I have no clue how big to make it especially since I need to have two floors instead of just one. I know of a website that has a sphere/dome generator that will give me step by step blueprints to build a dome of any size up to thirty two blocks. I'm not sure how big it is but I know for a fact that it is an odd number. My question is what is the minimum size dome that I would need in order to have enough space for both of these floors? By size, I mean the diameter of the dome. This treehouse is meant to be for myself only so it doesn't have to be crazy big. Thanks in advance!
It all depends on how wide and long you want the farms to be, to be honest. To fit a two story farm, meaning just 2 floors with a 3 block high roof for both sections, yet technically only need a 6-diameter sphere. Granted one of the size would only merit size for a, say, 3x3 farm? But it's technically a two story farm! In all seriousness, if you want one of good size, I would go with a 30 or 40 size sphere, which would be pretty big, but it would be big enough to ensure you never have a food shortage.
I'm basically dividing both floors into four sections with a cross of water separating each section. I'll definitely take your ideas into account and just see what works without being too massive.

If you're gonna build is buy the 7x7 water flow you get, you'd want to build it at about a 25-ish diameter sphere I -think-, I really hope this helps, I wish I could be more help but this kind of math at this time of night is really just above my head unfortunately. Hope everything works out well for you
Here is my advice. Figure out your farm layout first. Once you know the height and widths of the farm it will be much easier to figure out the dome needed.
A few ideas:
To save space you could just let the sugarcane grow up under the dome...no ceiling or walls. Also an easy way to eliminate much calculation altogether would be to start the dome on a two block high foundation wall that goes around your wheat farm. This would mean that no sugar canes could come within roughly 3 blocks of the dome walls though.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
