You can get internet plans (here, at least) that are absolutely horrible and cost next to nothing, and, as I said, you don't need that good of a computer to play Minecraft, especially with Optifine.
How often do you play minecraft? Minecraft runs very badly on low end computers I know I had to upgrade mine just to run it because of lag and optifine doesn't help that much anyway. Also the OP already is paying for an internet connection or we wouldn't be reading his post, so he can afford that. I'm not sure where you are going with this argument but if you are defending a player using cracked minecraft because they are too cheap to buy a real copy you are no better than the OP. Stealing is still stealing. I get the feeling you folks run stop signs too when no policeman is looking because it's only wrong if you get caught.
Most MC players are children, I highly doubt a child is going to get a job to help their parents with getting money. You also don't need that expensive of a PC to play Minecraft (heck, I'm using a HP Pavillion which doesn't even work right) so depending on what PC the person has, you might not get much of anything at all out of selling it.
First, give me proof that most MC players are children (I'm not arguing, just asking). Second, don't you think that if the game is important enough they'd work to get it?
(not directed to you)
I understand why some people might pirate it to make sure the game works (buying a broken game is never fun) but I really do hate those who decide to make their own prices. "It's too expensive" Too bad. They make the prices, not you.
If you;re that poor, you should be doing other things than playing Minecraft. Like working a few extra jobs or sellign your expensive PC so you don't drown in your bills.
Do you know that everyone needs a computer at this point? even an old one is needed to do basic things as most works involve using a computer so he shouldnt sell it.
Anyway the one who made the thread should try to buy the game as early as he can,i started with cracked but when i got enough money i bought premium.

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move
I've heard "but minecraft is so cheap, you wouldn't be able to buy a computer or internet then" before, I don't agree. Minecraft is international, it's played all over the place.
That really depends. The U.S is one of the top cheapest places in the world to buy both videos games and internet overall. But in other countries like Russia Australia, video games are really pricey, hence why there are so many cracked users there. I have met people who are dirt poor who own computers, computers are really cheap where they live, but games are extremely high; they obviously use cracked.
Or people in third-world-countries who can't afford internet because they would starve to death if had to pay the internet bill for just for one month.
I don't advice anyone to get cracked copies, but there are more reasons people do it other than they are greedy people. In the U.S/Canada, it's probably mostly children or adults who don't have a lot of disposable income. I'm sure there are people who just don't want to buy things, but is that really the big majority? I somehow doubt that.

I'm no expert on anything related to money, but I thought games in Russia are cheap. I only think this because of all the stuff I hear about buying Steam games and then trading it to the USA because it's cheaper (thus it's also not allowed).

I'm glad you pointed that out, I meant Australia. You are correct. *facepalm*

Using cracked Minecraft is exactly the same as stealing a brand-new car. It is still the full thing, it is 100% what you would've got what you have paid for it, but you STOLE it. You stole it for free when they needed money for the hard work they put into making the car/game.

Nononono, it isn't. Trust me, I hate people who steal (including software), but there is a HUGE difference here.
You don't have a limited amount of 'x' software you can give away (excluding keys, but still) but by stealing a car the company cannot easily replace what was stolen in the same way. What I wrote might not make much sense, but if you apply logic it's really easy to see.
In the United States, it's considered customary to tip your waiter about ten to twenty percent of the total cost of the meal.
The original analogy was pretty silly anyway.
It isn't required, though. Also, some places it is rude.
Anyway this is getting a bit off-topic..
Also,
There are a variety of reasons someone could be pirating games. Branding them all as immorally wrong is a great way to be a jerk.
I cracked minecraft before there was a demo. Bought the game soon afterwards.
I meant besides that (Edit: "That" being pirate then buy)(although I see how I could have worded that better). Personally, I don't do the whole "pirate, and then buy" but I totally get why people might. I'm mostly talking about people who pirate and then never buy the game/don't for a long time. The only reason I see as acceptable is to make sure the game works on their hardware. Not if they think the game is too expensive.
In the case of Minecraft, the demo is so old that you can't really make sure the game will work on its latest version. As for Steam games, with the new refund system there isn't really a reason to pirate any game on there.
I also think it is acceptable to pirate a game you already own, just so you can avoid DRM.
No, it's not. When you steal, you're taking something physical. Pirating is a completely different topic. Stop comparing the two, it's frustrating.
TL;DR
There are a variety of reasons someone could be pirating games. Branding them all as immorally wrong is a great way to be a jerk.
It is against the law, and it's not a necessity. There's no valid reason to illegally obtain a luxury that you haven't earned. Minecraft may not be a physical thing but it is still a thing that exists, a product of hard work. A book is not valuable because it is a physical thing. A movie is not valuable because it exists on round metal discs. The Mona Lisa is not valuable because it's made of paint. Taking any of these illegally is going to get you in trouble. A video game is no different, except its physical existence is on bits of silicon, which makes it harder to prevent piracy.
And even if it isn't morally wrong, why should we encourage it? Why should we talk about it? If you want to talk about fun game mechanics, fine, but once you start bringing up that you have a cracked version all it's going to do is make people grumpy.
In the USA, you really should tip the waiter as it is the only way they can earn money, but it is not part of the law. However, pretty much everywhere else in the world, tipping the waiter is basically unheard of outside of TV, as the restaurant pays them for every hour of work.
I heard a story about someone who came to New Zealand who didn't know this, so she left some money on the table of the cafe and then left, but then a waitress ran after her saying "You left your change behind!" because tipping is just some weird foreign concept here.
I'm close to locking this thread, since it appears to have gone well beyond the original thread topic: someone asking why the forum doesn't allow discussions about cracked Minecraft. If people are willing to limit this discussion to the context of this forum, I will be allowed to remain open.
*One of the reasons why we dont talk about cracked MC is that most of the cracked launchers come with problems that we are unable to solve thus making threads about it being a waste of time.
*Connectivity issues would flood the forum of users asking how to make cracked servers
*There would be people asking modders support for their cracked launchers also complicating their job.

For those who complain about post-Beta generation, you might want to see this.
Being unable to purchase a game (not due to your own fault - eg lack of funds) is one reason I didn't think about, good reply.
At the end of the day however, reguardless of the situation, it is still pirating.
Exactly what I was thinking when I thought about my reply XD
