I do not know how to make parts of my skin transparent. I am incapable of getting picture editing programs that support transparent pictures. I've tried to get pant.net and it didn't work. I did everything right. and it wont work. I've already gotten off track of what this is about. Sooooo anyway... I've seen snapshot update videos that people done this. I know it's possible because I've seen TWO people do this so it must be true.
A skin is a texture on you. A normal skin is a static texture. A transparent one would have to constant change the texture. Sorry, but ordinary texture making programs wont help you. You need to find or make a mod to do this.

what!? the internet lied to me!?..... but TWO different people has done this! in the one of the snapshots that was for 1.9.

He has no idea what he's talking about. You'll need software that can support creating .PNG files with transparency. I'd personally recommend paint.NET - Just remember to make sure the background layer is set to transparent, not a solid color. An easy way to do that is to activate the background layer, press 'CTRL+A' to 'select' the entire layer, then press delete.
I'm not sure about skins, but if you want to make a transparent image, like in resource packs and maybe try it on skins, there is a free program called Gimp that is an image editor/creator. it has multiple layers which include transparent ones.
I have heard of "Gimp" before. I haven't tried installing it. I have automatically gave up after Pant.net not working.

It would be unfair if transparent skins were a thing. Someone could make a skin like that and just sneak and couln't be seen unless they were wearing armor or holding something. that is why there is black in transparent parts

Do you mean the translucent skin overlays? if so, they really are added in a 1.9 snapshot.

In 1.9 transparencies are supported. We're not talking about making yourself invisible. See this old reddit thread when it first came out in the snapshots to see what he's talking about: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/3t5l3o/you_will_be_able_to_have_translucent_hat_layers/

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
that was part of minecraft since skins were invented. jackets and pants were added in 1.8

Now it's really easy to do with skin editors. I always use this one https://mcskins.top/ . It's possible to choose the transparency percentage.
