BIG NEWS:Microsoft has finally bought Mojang legitimately about 37 minutes ago. (3:02 (SWEDISH TIME) PM) (9:02 (WASHINGTON, D.C, USA) AM ). Microsoft bought Mojang for a whopping amount of $ 2,500,000,000!
Please update/fix Minecraft in any fastest possible way. We know you're too busy making new over-the-top modern computers/devices, but please have time to give Minecraft a chance, because owning a game studio and not changing any aspects of the games of the studio is just like buying a valuable thing without using it for anything, making it like an extraordinary/ordinary decor. Also do this to several other games of Microsoft because everyone in the world doesn't play Minecraft, they also play Cobalt and Scrolls.
Since Microsoft is also VERY serious, I guess there will be no annual april fools joke like the MINECRAFT SECRET ALIEN UPDATE or the TESTIFICATE VIRUS OF 2014 (TV 2014).
So from now on Minecraft is no longer an indiegame anymore.
I just hope for the best, that Microsoft understands well enough how the game and the community has evolved in freedom and creativity and that messing with that is absolutely not a good idea...
^Agreed 100%. I am very pessimistic about what is going on right now. Looking at some of the past acquisitions that were made and how they were murdered...

"It's not enough you have the will to care. What are you going to do to show it?"
Notch and the other Mojang founders are leaving the company and moving on. Would this include Jeb? Because he's been the one doing everything for MC since Notch handed over the reigns in 2011.....
So far they are promising to maintain support for all versions of the game on all platforms....so there is still a glimmer of hope. Also a lot of the other Mojang devs will still be on the game most likely, so not much may actually change.
Time will tell, I will withhold judgement on the game itself until after something happens. I will, however, pass judgement on Marcus: he sold out. The community got angry at him for the first time when he changed the EULA, and for the first time they were against him. He couldn't handle it, so he Phil Fished...only his IP was worth a ton more than Fez.
Hey! At least it's not EA, or Apple, or Google. Also, most of the orginal devs will remain. Let's hope for the best.
I also died a little inside.
As Kekay said, at least it's not EA, who will charge you to make a server and/or charge you to buy armour! Microsoft has confirmed that every MC Edition will stay and will remain updated.

Can you match my resolve? If so then you will succeed. - Monty Oum
I am half up and down about this. On one hand I love when an indie company holds on to its hard work, and makes sure the game takes the path the company wants it to take. Now that Microsoft owns it, it could turn into something really awesome, or really "Microsoft-y". I don't want the community to change, and I REALLY don't want the modding aspect of Minecraft to change. I hope Microsoft makes the decisions that are best for the game and the community, and we will see what happens from there.
I'm conflicted about this, for me it really all depends on whether Microsoft is smart enough to realize that mods are an important part of minecrafts appeal. As for the vanilla game, if jeb is still in charge of minecrafts development, combined with the assets Microsoft can provide, a lot of persistent bugs may be going bye bye. If not, well nothing lasts forever, but it was fun while it lasted.
The only reason I have concerns for this is because Microsoft has a bad habit of gutting great companies, Rare is the best example. We can only hope that good things happen.
I wasn't even sure that was real. Hoping that it was a rumor. Part of me wants to jump ship and swim like mad, but another part wants to see what the game mutates changes into under new management.
I'm concerned that Microsoft will charge money for the permission to make mods, or that they'll go after makers of Minecraft-themed fan art for copyright infringement.
Notch and Mojang supported their consumers, and individual rights to fair use of intellectual property - they opposed SOPA/PIPA and other anti-piracy bills that threatened the freedom of the internet. They have a terms of service allowing for the profit of selling fan art from the Minecraft game, as long as you're not re-selling something that Mojang themselves made, as well as some other entirely reasonable, common sense terms. While Mojang does profit from the Minecraft game, they're not greedy and they know better than to harm their customers with copyright laws.
(And I want to make it clear that I'm not some kid who pirates thousands of songs and whines about the law - I'm a mechanical engineer who's gone through the problem of being discredited because someone else manufactured my idea before I could get the resources. I have a patent pending. I understand the need for copyright laws - just not at the extremes a lot of larger corporations want to go to.)
Microsoft is the exact opposite - they support bills like SOPA and PIPA because multi-million dollar lawsuits will bring in more money for them. They're greedy. Their designs all reflect planned obsolescence - creating products deliberately to wear out so you can push consumers into buying a newer, "better" one. Just look at the Xbox 360 - its heat sink is affixed to the motherboard in such a way that as it heats up and the metal expands, it bends the motherboard, sometimes to the point where it can cause the CPU to pop out of the board. That's when you get that "red ring of death" error. Not to mention they designed the case to require a special tool to disassemble in an effort to prevent independent (less expensive) repair people from being able to repair it. They want to force the customers to take their console to a technician who works for Microsoft, one who costs more and might replace something that doesn't need to be replaced to bring in more money.
I know a lot of people think Mojang hasn't done the best job of updating Minecraft, but is that really worth potentially losing that loyalty to customers, their way of making a profit without being greedy about it? What if, in the future, we have to pay a monthly fee for permission to have a server? What if we have to pay Microsoft for permission to make mods? What if we're threatened with copyright infringement if we use the Minecraft font in a Minecraft fan art commission drawing?
What if they deliberately make the PC version of Minecraft lower quality and laggier than the Xbox version, because they want more people to buy their poorly designed Xboxes? There is precedent for this - Consider how the makers of DVDs have been deliberately doing a bad job putting the frames of the low resolution version together, because they want people to spend more on the high resolution version.
Think very carefully, about where we go from here.
To be honest, I'm kinda upset about this. Because when I think about Microsoft acquiring something. I think of what they've done to Skype, Lionhead Studios, FASA Interactive and more.
I just do not trust Microsoft at all with Minecraft. They're going to make something of a monopoly out of this, I just know it. Some people will think this will be nothing but they're only thinking off first glance. In fact, I don't trust Microsoft at all. So, this is really a shame. Microsoft is now our overlords of Minecraft...wonderful, just, wonderful.
I don't see why, if Notch was feeling so pressured by owning such a big thing like Minecraft/Mojang, why he didn't just hand the company off to someone internal to it, who has the philosophy he put in place. Selling it to Microsoft makes no sense.

I'm telling you, the first thing their going to do is raise the price, then make you pay to change your skin, then each update will be huge and cost money, then they will mass produce toys and clothes, strike some deals with McDonald's and Wendy's. Finally you can buy DLC, but only on PC and Xbox, after a year or two Minecraft 2 will be out, with upgraded graphics! 1000x1000 pixels per block! Shaders! Buy buy buy! Money money money!
Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but trust me when I say this: Microsoft will not treat this like it's a small delicate game, it will become the most commercial thing since the Snuggie. Basically Mojang has carried us this far on a smooth ride, but threw us into the Nether at the end.

Post Script: Since Mojang was bought by Microsoft, we need to obey our new leader, Microsoft. Microsoft can't answer all requests like this one from CaptainSparklez:

Altho, i own a Xbox 360, im not a fan of Microsoft owning Mojang/Minecraft.
God indeed, help us all.
