That shield is very complicated for minecraft pixel art. I'd suggest using a simplified version. Alternatives would include putting in on the ground in an approachway or using an entire tower side for it.

Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.
I forgot - there is a way to make very detailed emblems, although there's an enormous amount of work involved. (From's Auksie's desert city build thread)
Go to someplace flat, preferably someplace you don't ever plan to use or visit. Make a minimum size map (128x128). Make your emblem on the ground (probably using wool). The map will then be your emblem, and will occupy 1 block on a wall if placed in an item frame. You can make larger patterns with more maps and more space - although obviously that's more work.
You can even destroy the emblem on the ground afterwards provided you NEVER have the map, or any copy of it, on your hotbar when you're near where the map is made. It's best to just leave the emblem on the ground in case there's an accident or you want to alter it, which is why it's good to put it someplace you'll never go otherwise.
You have to place about 16,000 blocks for each 1 block area on your emblem, which is an enormous amount of work. I've never done it, although Auksie actually made several - talk about dedication! With white and black you could build it on an Ice Plains somewhere, which would save you from having to place most of your white blocks.

With the updated maps that you can zoom out it should not require quite such a ratio, I'm gonna look further into it, that sounds like a good idea.
I think I might have to take down a section of the battlements, the wall chunk that has a chunk taken out of it, it's on the inside of the wall the wall level there is even with ground level. And I also feel like such an idiot right now I was using half slabs for corners because I did not know what would happen when you put a stair there I put the a stair block there by accident, and was like, what the hell just happend, doh.
Except me till just then. I don't usually find stuff till it is so old it aint even funny, I just found a program that combines my two favorite things, CAD programs and Minecraft, it's called MCEdit, so maybe this won't take me a year to complete.
I am going to put npc housing with the houses in rows with better and bigger houses as you get further up into the castle, and I am copying all the basic npc houses, what do y'all think of the way these are aranged?
Real forts and castles tended to have things really crammed in and higgledy-piggledy because of space constraints. If you could do it that way it would be great. The only major issue with cramming I can think if is that if you want to populate it with villagers Iron Golems need 3 wide passages pretty much everywhere to get around.
Gridding is very much the exception in pre-modern cities. Romans and Chinese did it sometimes, mostly for high-end places or gridded apartment blocks (not individual houses). Other than that, it was all stuff slapped everywhere and everyhow.

I wanted everything all over the place without order, but my mind just won't allow me to do it for some reason, maybe I'll just turn it into giant apartment blocks.
I don't know why I let losing my world get to me so much, i am going to start rebuilding, and MCEdit just takes the fun out of it, so I'm also going back to doing it block by block, here is my progress for today.
I think the tower would look best uncovered. You could also add staircases or slabs so people can see from the tower. Other than that, looks like a really cool build. Cake for you!

I'm not sure why I covered them, I like them best uncovered as well, my mind just aint with me lately.

The color patterning is new for this tower, right?

Yes, I did not know about stained clay before.
I'm not sure what you mean by more detail.
