After the newest build i am able to use skins and they won't appear black. However the game won't allow me to use certain skins, most of them i noticed are .PNG files as apposed to .png. If i use .png then it will work fine and if i use .PNG it will say "That's not a minecraft skin, silly." I don't know why it really matters if it's capitalized or not. If anyone else has this problem then please tell me. Hopefully this gets resolved in a future version.
I'm sure you're thinking about the fact that the skins don't work period. They come out black (Literally said this in the beginning of my post). That's not the problem and i know this is fixed.
Lower-case and Upper-case letters have different ASCII and Unicode values (the numeric value that represents the character) so PNG is not the same as png. Obviously they seem to have the code that determines the validity of the skin file to look for only the lower-case extension of png for the skin file. You should post this to the Mojang bug tracker for them to review.

K thanks! I sent a bug yesterday so hopefully nobody marks it as a duplicate!
