So, I thought of an awesome idea. Spawn Eggs In Survival Mode. Now I know what you're Thinking "This Guy Is Dumb, 4J isn't going to put Spawn Eggs in Survival" You're true, but I thought of a way around this. You need to get Blood(DNA) From the mob you want a spawn egg for. But First! you need to make a syringe, The Way you make a syringe is by having three glass, one iron ingot, and one stone slab. Once you craft it you will get an empty syringe. now go hit a mob, then left click it with the syringe it will now become filled with that Mob's DNA after that. Put the New syringe Into the crafting table with a regular egg and you get the spawn egg.
Why and Random words capitalized? It makes reading annoyinG.
And you're right--we won't get spawn eggs in survival because we simply don't need them. And acquiring blood from mobs and them injecting it into an egg? Uhh...this is not only odd for this game, but not good for its "E" rating.
Bad idea for all of the reasons stated in the posts above. No support. Mob spawning in survival mode is controlled by game parameters set out by the creator (i.e. Mojang; e.g. mobs will spawn in an area around the player from 24 to 128 blocks away in controlled numbers and within a cap/limit). It's how the designer envisioned the "survival" game being played. Creative (and now adventure) mode is where the player gets to mess with these parameters.
Actually... I'm going to throw my hat in on the side of a 'pro' on this one... so long as there is a 1-for-1 balance.
First off, I hate the idea of the syringe to get a blood sample and DNA and for the same reasons that Phoenix pointed out. So let's look at how this could be accomplished within the current mechanics of the game that would be relatively fair to the game parameters.
Let's look at the splash potion mechanics. Let's say there is something like a potion of regression that has a random chance to either heal a MOB, de-age a mob (if possible, ie villager to baby villager, or zombie to baby zombie), or revert it to a spawn egg.
This way there is some risk involved in capturing the MOB in the first place, and there is a 1-for-1 capture rate in that you can only capture what has spawned in the game (you can't just make duplicates of various MOB's, or keep one MOB captive while you clone them over and over).
Some MOB's (especially boss MOB's) may not be able to be put into spawn eggs (such as the Wither or the Ender Dragon).
I don't understand why someone would want to get a spawn egg in Survival. Survival is a particular game-mode, meant to be played a certain way. Namely, the way it has been programmed... without spawn eggs.
If you want to alter the way MC is played, that's what Adventure mode is for (and why I'm a huge advocate for expanding the Adventure mode options).
How about if you kill any mob you get a 1/10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000% chance of a spawn egg as loot? Sounds reasonable.
So basically a chance of 1 in a googol? There are things in our universe that are mind-bogglingly rare that would still have better chances of occurring than finding a spawn egg in survival! xD
Lol. Yeah, thats very true. Basically its a moot point to suggest this. Never gonna happen really. But 1 in a googol aint bad.
I think statistically a black hole forming from our sun within the next 100 years has a higher chance of occurring than finding an egg...
Neither 4J nor Mojang would allow this because being to spawn any mob in survival ad infinitum would spoil the game. If you're really that bothered ninetalesfan, wouldn't it be easier to load up the level on creative, spawn in and store a load of eggs, save and go back into the world in survival...?
LOL. Depends on the player. Some people want a "true" survival world and would never go into creative. But that would be the way to go. I personally believe if it can't be obtained in legit survival, it isnt worth it. I like to keep my survival workd survival, creative takes all the fun out.
But I think you're going to have to face facts ninetalesfan: spawn eggs will NEVER be available in survival. They have the same chance of appearing in survival as... erm... something that is 100% impossible... Sorry, I couldn't think of something else with that level of impossibility...
Lol. It's as impossible as entering a black hole and living to tell the tale... How's that?
It's funny you should mention that because there are some compelling arguments in the scientific community that suggest that there may be a point in space where matter, time, and energy is returned after entering a black hole. It seems very sci-fi, and I love Red Dwarf's take on it, but I love the idea that something akin to a "white hole" returns all matter back to the universe - or at least some universe - after a black hole swallows it.
From what I've seen of the discussions about black holes returning energy and matter back... it was observed that black holes that rapidly consumed a high volume of mass could be seen as expelling an enormous volume of x-rays out the polar ends of it so powerful that if one were to be directed at the earth from several light years away, it would immediately destroy all life on it... fortunately, it has a near laser beam focus so it's likely hood of actually being pointed directly at the earth (or any specific object sufficiently far away) is extremely astronomically small.
But regardless, it would be impossible to survive such a journey... you may be expelled, but not in the same way you went in. Heck, your atomic composition would be unrecognizable.

Very insightful... I like! Thanks for the info, very interesting.

Technically, it would be your sub-atomic composition at that point.
I'm of the opinion that within very large black holes is another universe; the singlarity is actually a "tear" in the fabric of our universe, and any matter consumed by a black hole is expelled into this other universe as super- heated sub-atomic particles. The initial event of the tearing and subsequently violent expulsion of matter is the colloquial "Big Bang" of that universe. As the parent-Hole continues to absorb matter, the "other" universe continually expands.
I realize this is just a stab in the dark, but it alleviates the problem of conservation of information that "conventional" black holes pose, as well as the fact that mathmatically the inside of a Black hole has infinite time... It's also more believable than String Theory.

I don't buy that theory... the problem I have is that a black hole is a really small entity when compared on a stellar, galactic, or universal scale (most with an event horizon diameter of less than 20 miles except for the super massive black holes at the center of each galaxy that helps to stabilize galactic orbits...but even those are small by comparison), and compared to the amount of mass that goes through a black hole over time (although massive by human standards) is really insignificant from a universal (or even a galactic) perspective.
I just don't see a black hole sucking in enough matter and energy to create a comparable universe on the other side.

I wanna go back on topic to point out what everyone else missed. You don't need a needle full of DNA in order to make eggs. You need a mommy and a daddy monster who love each other very much.....and then.....
Tell me how you like this idea.

Another reason is, taking blood out of animals with a syringe? That probably threatens the "Rated 10+" rating.
So sorry, no support.
^^^^ Click it! You know you want to...
The Wither doesn't spawn that way. It spawns from four blocks of Soul Sand arranged in a T-shape and three Wither Skeleton skulls on top.
