To see how their day is going and catch up on the village goss, jeez this guy.
In all serious, No support for this idea as there really is no need for it plus it would be too hard for the villagers to understand all of the different languages and accents in the world.
I now give full support if it can recognize Microsoft Sam!
That's not a bad idea actually but even still I don't see the point in speaking to a villager, why can't you just play with friends and talk to them like normal people.

...I don't normally like to 'bash' ideas, but this has got to be one of the most pointless and one of the more complicated suggestions I've ever seen. Lol.
i understand all of your comments, and i have a thing to say that might help clearify. only a response to hello or hi and mabey they say ow or somthing wen they get hit. as for the languages and accents problem, iv got nothinthank you for the honesty

Well then, if all they say if hi and ow, and little things like that, then it would be okay
Voice command and voice interactions will become much more prevalent in games in the future, speech recognition software and natural language processing has come a long ways over the years, but I don't foresee this in Minecraft's foreseeable future, and especially not with the limited capabilities of the XBox 360 while running MC at the same time.
Sure... because voice commands work so great in other games.
If there were to be any 'voice commands', I'd rather it be similar to how they 'HD Remake' of Tomb Raider did it... You just say what you want in your inventory and it's in your hand.
For example.. you can say "shotgun", and it will put the shotgun in your hand instead of having to manually open up the menu.
It could be say, "pickaxe" and it would spawn in your hand so long as there's one in your inventory. I'd liek that Idea.
Stay fluffy~

No way in our minds would we need this.
Unless I'm missing a point.

I agree though (Even if it goes against my last post) They already do talk, even if it is just squidward grunts. I prefer that to real talking.
LOL
