Hello. I have a question about creative mode for XBox 360. My son likes the demo on PC but would prefer to play it on his XBox. Is it available for this console, and, if so, what is the same/different between the 2 platforms?
There are a lot of differences. Xbox does have creative and survival mode, BUT, at the moment it is not as 'advanced' as the PC version. Ie: it is a few versions behind at the moment. Also, you cannot use mods or texture packs on the xbox version.
Oh, and it is made by two different companies. Mojang made the PC version, 4JStudios made the Xbox version.
I prefer the Xbox version as you can relax with a controller. You could on the PC version, but you will also need a decent computer to run it.
As the above user said, the PC has bigger maps than the Xbox version, and a lot more items etc. However, there will a new Xbox coming out probably next year. This may make MC massive amounts better than the PC version.
Oh, and you can play with other people on the xbox, in a 'party'. You can speak to them using a headset, which is much easier than a Skype account.
4Jstudios have also said that after they catch up with the PC version, they will be going their own way with the game. Meaning that it should be more advanced in the future.
Different companies: Edited my above post. 4J will be taking the game further.
They won't be taking the game further, just in a different direction, and that's a maybe. Once MCXBLA reaches the equivalent of MCPC's official 1.2.3 update, 4J, Mojang, and Microsoft are all going to have a talk and see where the 360 version should go from there. It seems that 4J wants to take the game on a whole new path, but this doesn't mean it will happen. I'm sure Microsoft would prefer if they ceased updates and started releasing DLC exclusively. 4J could try to reason with them, but if Microsoft's collective mind is made up, their will dictates the future of the game.
there both pretty much the same, xbox version is a few updates behind but it still has 97% of the blocks and everything, ender dragon and the end is even included now in the xbox version which is awesome, one problem i found with the xbox is that the xbox360 doesn't have the processing power as most computers have, this sometimes causes redstone creations to lag your server hardcore, but unless your son is a crazy engineer the xbox should work fine.
Thanks in advance,
Bill
