The Color Towers is a multiplayer parkour map created by Coopatroopa17 and myself, leefeet. It was a project that we’ve been slowly working on for quite some time (since 1.10) and we’re proud to finally have it in a finished state for people to play. This map is intended for multiplayer use, for up to eight players, but it also functions in single player. From here on, I'll explain the map.
The Towers:
The Color Towers is a towering skyscraper piercing the clouds with eight distinctly colored sections, or “towers,” including an extra tower in the center. Each colored tower has the exact same layout of parkour challenges as the others, just for a different color. The goal of the game is to race up to the top of the tower and reach the checkered flag first, claiming the fastest time. Each tower is surrounded by glass, allowing you and the other competitors to view each other during the race. As you play, you'll soon get a feel for the parkour and begin improving your times, and eventually find out who's the fastest.
Parkour Elements:
Checkpoints:
To assist your climb to the top, checkpoints are placed around the parkour to help you in case you fall down. These are represented by golden pressure plates in each tower. Once pressed, falling below that point in the parkour will place you back at the checkpoint to continue your race. This system enables players to continue racing, giving only a small penalty for falling rather than forcing the player to retry the whole thing. However, getting the best time possible would involve not needing to be saved by the checkpoints, but that’s based on whether you can complete the whole thing without falling.
Block Effects:
Throughout the parkour, there are various blocks that give you special effects that add variety to the parkour. A green block gives you some jump boost, while a light blue block gives you speed, and a red block kills you. There are various blocks that you’ll encounter within the parkour, which are listed below:
Lime Green Stained Clay = Jump Boost
(Dark) Green Stained Clay = Super Jump Boost
Light Blue Stained Clay = Swiftness
Red Stained Clay = Instant Death
Purpur pillar = levitation
Purpur block = Super levitation
To get a refresher, you can also visit the Block Effects and Other Information room within the hub of the map to see the blocks and their effects
Other Stuff:
There are also other, more normal parkour elements in this map, such as running, jumping, ladder climbing, slime blocks, etc. These are usually complimented by the block effects, so there's some variety in the parkour. It's all about getting the best time in the end and trying to improve upon your time in subsequent games.
Racing:
A race begins after players have selected their colors. In the Player Selection room, a start button can be pressed in order to begin the color countdown. Players will have fifteen seconds to choose their desired color before being sent to the actual towers. This is to enable time for people to select their color before the actual game starts, so people can run by and grab a spot in the race. Once time is up, all colored players will be teleported to their designated color tower on the starting block and ten seconds until starting. The players will all be frozen in place until the timer ticks down. Once the starting time has ticked down and said “GO,” players can immediately start running and jumping their way to the top. Players will also be given a barrier block when sent to the color towers, which, when dropped, allows them to retire from the race, forfeiting their time. This is useful if you’re going for a high score and need to retry.
Spectating:
For anyone who isn’t racing, they can visit the spectator tower. The spectator tower is located in the middle of the color towers, and allows players to enter spectator mode to watch the competitors race. There are areas in which a player can become a spectator and become a normal player again. Because you’ll be in spectator mode, there’s no harm to the racers when you’re viewing them. There are also “elevators” for the spectators in the spectator tower that allows fast movement up and down the color towers. When a competitor finishes the race, he or she will be turned into a spectator in order to view the other racers as they try and finish their race.
Also, all competing players will be glowing in their respective color. This allows both spectators and competitors to find the other racers, whether to watch them or catch up to them.
Timing:
This map keeps track of your time in the race thanks to the handy scoreboard system. When a race is in progress, times will be displayed on the right of the screen next to the appropriate player (whose name will be their color). When the race begins, everyone’s time will increase. Once the checkered flag has been reached, it will stop. Because scoreboard cannot deal with decimal numbers, times will be displayed as one big whole number. To fix this, a simple conversion must be made to find your exact time by adding a decimal point before the last two numbers.
##### → ###.##
__seconds^__^milliseconds
Here is an example:
- I finish the race with the timer saying 26545
- I add a decimal before the last two numbers (4 and 5) to get 265.45
- So my time is 265 seconds and 45 milliseconds
The game also has a reset button for when you want to start a new game. There are actually two reset buttons: a "game reset" button, and a "timer reset" button. The timer reset button does what the name implies: resets the timer. This button can be accessed in the lobby, and is also triggered when the start button is pressed in the player selection. However, the timer reset cannot be triggered when a game is currently in progress. There is a second button, called the "game reset" button. This is a more powerful reset button that can be useful if something goes wrong in the map, like people getting stuck. If the button is pressed, it will not only reset the timer but also teleport everyone back to the lobby. Due to the nature of the game reset button, you must press it twice in a row for it to take affect.
Advancements:
Thanks to the 1.12 update, custom advancements were added to this parkour. These offer goals to reach in addition to racing yourself or your friends. They can involve racing a certain number of times, beating a certain time, or even finding a secret room or various other goals. A few are hidden at first glance, but will appear once you begin earning the earlier ones. The advancements can be viewed in detail within the map itself by oppening the advancements menu.

About Running the Map:
Since this map is for multiplayer and uses command blocks, there are certain things to be considered when using the map. First, please note that depending on the strength of your server (and considering possible lag due to internet), certain aspects of the game can slow down. This can create a slower timer or make the block effects take longer to activate rather than being instantaneous. That being said, you can still play the game this way, but just note that these things can occur (so don't come here claiming you got a time of 30 seconds when it turns out the timer was just lagging).
Also, here are some settings that you should set, including both client and server side:
Difficulty: Peaceful
Gamemode: 2 (adventure, for when people first join)
Render Distance: at least 8 chunks (especially for servers)
Enable-command-block: True
Brightness: bright (for best look)

I’m not the only one that helped make the map, so I want to give credit to those who helped make this map possible:
In case you're wondering, here are our high scores that I have recorded. And trust me, these times are real and accurate. It takes a lot of practice but eventually your times will greatly improve. I hope you guys will eventually be able to beat these times:
leefeet: 90.20 seconds
Coopatroopa17: 153.00 seconds
That being said, "The Color Towers" is a map created by Coopatroopa17 and myself, leefeet. If you wish to show off the map, please give credit and refer people here so they can try out the map for themselves.
And that should be everything. I hope you enjoy the map!
