Hey guys! I've been working on a couple maps lately, and I am slowly loosing interest in them one by one. I was wondering if anyone had good ideas for ANY type of map they would want in Minecraft? I will add it to my list and see the possibilities and potential of every one. No idea will be rejected, I will always try to find a way to make it happen if it interests me. Please specify what version of Minecraft it is in, either 1.8.9 or 1.9.4 [or latest version of 1.9]. And again, it can be anytype of map. Parkour, Adventure, Puzzle, ect., ect. ANYTHING!
Thank you in advance.

EDIT: I have a discord! If you wish to have a bit more communication with me (no voice) then just instant message me your discord account name; I would be happy to add you.
Hmmmmm I just checked out the thread and that seems like a really cool idea. I participated in SquirtDude's 20x20x20 Challenge, but this is different. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check that out!
1.A map where you change between Spectator mode and Adventure mode when you pass by command blocks. I tried to make a map out of the idea, but it didn't go very far. I think it would be a cool mechanic in the hands of someone who was more experienced at making maps.
2. A map where you use a command book to cast spells, but they are different depending on where you stand. To do this, you have a command book that places a block below you at ~ Y ~, just above the redstone mechanics.
I made a map where you try to survive and capture all the beacons. It's a fun little idea that's kinda like a CTM map where you have a goal to work towards. Perhaps this is something you are looking for?
I just did a youtube review on a map.... and it had somthing ive not seen in a map before... a sliding floor.... it was epic.
Maybe you could do somthing simular?
(Map called mind bender, by horizon fear, video will be up when ive edited it, maybe in a day or 4 ...... )
When you say similar, I suppose you mean mechanics that are too crazy to believe their in the game? Sure thing, I love those type of things and have experimented with them before. Thank you for the suggestion!

1: Could you explain this a bit more? It sounds cool, but I'm not sure what you mean by it.
2: How would this be any different then just having different spells in the book? I get what you mean, but how would that really be a type of map?

I just checked it out, that's pretty cool! The only thing is, I'm looking for ideas for a map, not an actual map. XD But thanks for showing me that, it seems really cool. I'll probably play it.

I meant that as an idea for a map, that is if you are looking for ideas for a map. The genre of my map is called ATB (Activate the Beacons) and I'm confident enough to say that I'm the founder of this genre, even though nobody but me has made a map based on this genre. Also i'm really glad to hear that you checked it out, means a lot to hear those things
In case you want a bit more context of what ATB is...
- You beat the map by capturing a certain number of beacons. It is up to the map maker to decide on the amount of beacons there should be
- That is all. Think of it as like another name for CTM (Complete the Monument) but instead of being limited to 16 wool, you can create as many beacons as you want. This idea encourages players to explore the area surrounding them and to go to beacon to beacon in a vast open world environment. This idea works best as a marriage between Survival and the newly implemented ATB genre

Ok, I like this idea, I'm just kind of wary about taking someone elses map and making one my own thats very similar. But, if you say so, I can make a *very* different kind of map with this and I think I already have an idea in my head. Thank you for you suggestion!
EDIT: And I just read about how you give your redstone for the beacon capturing away. No thanks, I haven't even seen the footage of a beacon being captured yet, but with redstone I have a tendency to NEED to create everything on my own and test my limits. Thanks, again!

Yeah no trust me I'm happy for other people to make their own ATB maps. I have not yet made a youtube video as of yet describing how the process works, it's just a way so that other people can do the redstone for their own ATB maps.
As long as you give your map a different name to mine and nothing has been directly copied from my map into yours (as in the actual areas of the map, like using MCEdit to copy a whole entire part of my map into someone else's, otherwise it's plagiarism) and if you can possibly put my name down in the credits as inspiration or as the maker of the ATB genre would be much appreciated. This is if you're actually going to make an ATB map, but this is completely up to you and I'm just pitching a suggestion for the genre of the map you could make
And if you do decide to make an ATB map, you would officially be the second person in this world (from what I know, since that i'm pretty sure no one else but me has come up with this genre for a map before) to make an ATB map which sounds exciting, not really
EDIT* Also if you mention in your post that the genre of the map is an ATB map, that would help prevent some confusion because it at least shows that it's a legitimate name used by the community to describe this style and genre of the map since that it's new
I have been looking for a good murder mystery map personally. I have found only two so far, one was during the beta stages of MC (I think) and the other was with 9.0. The one that was from early minecraft was done for as good as it could be and it was fun to do. The one that was done recently was rather meh and very very unrealistic. The suspect was arrested on Reasonable Suspicion alone and NOT probable cause as it would have been in the real world (I understand that this is just a game but it should at least be representative of the real world), you also weren't able to collect the only piece of evidence. I started a script for the map but I don't know how to do all the command blocks and redstone stuff. The script is still in early stages. Let me know if you are interested.

So it would be a type of story map? I could imagine that, a story map mixed with a puzzle. I do seem interested; I'm imagining a mansion right now with moving armor stands, but that of course is the first thing everyone thinks of lol. So yea, I'm interested and I'm wondering if you could send a small part of the script in my IM or something? Thanks for the suggestion! My sticky note is getting long now lol
I seriously do not understand why it will not let me edit the post. I forgot to add something before I clicked the submit button shesh. Anyway, Do you have something like TeamSpeak or Discord? I have an idea in mind and Im not sure we are on the same page. I want to make sure that we are thinking of the same thing.

Actually, yes, I do have a discord. I cannot talk on it though, not that I don't want to; My microphone is busted inside and out, lol. I'll make an update to the main post in-case anyone else wants to tell me things. Just tell me your discord in IM, I'll add you as a friend. That goes for everyone else too.
it would be really nice to see a skyblock map, that you could get all the itens with stores (something similar to the skyblocks servers but in a offline map). and there could be the achievements written in books inside the map. With the possibilites to go to the nether and the end. it would truelly be great. don`t know if it was what you were looking for but i hope i helped you with my post.

I meant 1.9 and I tried to edit it but it wouldn't let me. Sorry for the inconvience

Hmm, a mansion. Never thought of that. My script takes place in an alley, I thought that that would be the what everyone thought of first.

Ok cool, I am at work right now so I won't be able to do that right now. Friday will be about the only day that I can actually talk.
What about a zombie apocalypse map? Maybe one with amazing builds and zombies with a custom AI to make it more challenging. Just a thought.
