The USS New Jersey is an Iowa class battleship commissioned in 1943, which served as a flagship throughout World War Two.
It was decommissioned in 1948, then recommissioned in 1950 for the Korean War, then decommissioned again in 1957.
New Jersey was reactivated for the Vietnam War in 1967, serving there for two years, as the only active battleship in the world.
During Vietnam, she had two 'swimming pools', the only time a US Navy ship has had such a thing.
She was finished with Vietnam service by 1969, returning to the reserve fleet.
In 1982, she was reactivated yet again by Reagan's 600 ship navy plan.
She served in the Lebanese Civil War, and was decommissioned for the final time in 1992, just short of serving in the Persian Gulf War.
In 2000 New Jersey became a museum ship in Camden, New Jersey, and is still there today.
