Hey, just wondering, has anyone been having problems editing their threads? Whenever I try to edit mine, it disregards any changes I've made, deletes almost half my thread, and screws up whatever is left of it. I always edit in the BBCode markup if anyone wants to know. This is really strange, and I've been trying to figure it out for hours and haven't found the reason (unless this is an issue with the editor/forum itself?) so any help would be appreciated.
The editor is glitched all to the nether and back. The developers ARE aware of it and ARE working to fix it. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. That's really all I can tell you.
Wow, looks pretty nice! Really like a lot of the textures I'm seeing there.
Gotta say though, the banner could use some work. It looks really... amateur (no offence)... If I was a random browser on the forums it definitely wouldn't inspire me to click on it.
I'm not sure I understand, could someone explain what's going on here? I haven't paid attention to anything texture pack-related since about 1.5.
Also, how does this look? Snow and side snow.
The snow looks like an inverted cobble texture... There's way too much contrast on it.
The dirt has one good looking pattern, but it's too flat colorwise. Some more hue shifting would make it look cooler.
You're probably right. I made that texture a while ago, it might have just been experimental. I'll see what I can do with the dirt, thanks for the reply.
Do you guys mind if I butt in and ask what's going on? I'm still a newbie to the texturing community, so I'm still trying to understand e issues and problems that are continuing right now,

There's a storm brewing on the horizon.
Our troops remain in wait, resting and training for the battle ahead.
Scouts have reported Mojang's troops are approaching from the north-east.
At their current pace, they will arrive in a fortnight.
It will take all we've got, but with proper strategy, we may just win this battle.
Seriously, though:
Mojang continues to add features that interest us.
Including a model format, that while complicated at first, can be simply used to port fixed and random CTM into vanilla.
More advanced, actual 3D models on blocks AND items. It's super awesome.
Problem being that they aren't really adding the stuff with us in mind,
as always.
Example being that they removed metadata, breaking extra textures some artists made that could be in vanilla on certain blocks.
Plus breaking 3rd person model render default orientation for seemingly no reason.
Also those things I've posted about elsewhere in this thread they don't really seem to care about fixing or implementing.
I'm guessing Alvoria's reasoning for it is the metadata stuff and generally Grum's attitude towards the situation. Calling it "silly" to want creative freedom as if it they never added silly things like derpy-horse-mouth-opening-animations and killer rabbits. Their "technical vision" for the game conflicts with our "artistic vision" for the game, and it generally leaves us out in the cold. They'll tell us to use workarounds if possible, but if not they just generally don't seem to care.
Like "Just use models to hack backfaces in rather than us simply adding the option to disable backface culling" ...I knew that, but thanks, that makes it z-fight in 3rd person and doesn't help my glass CTM which is now broken until MCpatcher is updated to the apparently non-euclidean rendering code of 1.8.
Maybe Alvoria is going back further on this as well, just with fresh wounds now? Pleasing pack artists (let alone making it easier for us) has really never been a focus for Mojang. Simple signs of that is how (by default) the sound assets are all named with hashes instead of human-readable and how in 1.8 the stitched texture atlases no longer are visible (I found this useful for seeing the textures in one place and seeing how many textures my pack had compared to vanilla seeing as I now control the used space via models).
Also, whynot, I've inadvertently posted 2 gifs with sombreros, have another.

Grass does look pretty good, maybe a couple of white specks on it would make it look a bit better. Also how did you make that enchantment table have legs instead of solid sides? I made a texture for it and the inventory item has transparent sides but when you place it down it looks default?
Hey guys, got a thought and I'm wanting to run it by you guys, I'm plotting some interesting stuff with another resource pack. I'm kinda thinking of pulling some mmo style 'color coded loot' style item icons. Mostly because of two things, 1 - I can actually use the whole space of the item tile to actually paint in, and 2 - I've not seen it done before.
These textures I'm probably going to paint out in x512
So just got a rough concept of what I'm trying to pull off.

So what do you guys and gals think.
Would like to see some more concept work on this, looking promising to go in this style/art direction though

After some downtime on CH I've made a rough start on the leather armor can show some early stages of it.
m not sure I understand, could someone explain what's going on here? I haven't paid attention to anything texture pack-related since about 1.5.Also, how does this look? Snow and side snow.
-snip-
That doesn't look like natural snow... It looks too hard as if made of stone.
But! The pattern could make a really nice Mycelium, as it look like fungi!
Since I was doing banners today, I wonder if any of the test maps have banner examples? That might be the quickest way to see that most patterns work out.
I didn't really do any creative changes, I figure people want predictable results with banners.
edit: oh darn do the banner .pngs need to be in a special format to work? They are showing up blank for me.
No, BUT they all need to be the same resolution for it to work.
Also they have to be under 128x or they will all be blank. (This a bug Mojang WON'T fix it said Grum)

Better with or without glow? Here it is without glow:
I would say with glow, and the outline on the blade is a bit thick for my tastes.
I personally think the glow makes it look a lot better
Doing more UI work for my as-yet-unnamed new texture pack which I've barely started. Not sure why I'm doing GUI first, but whatever:
I like how the sliders worked out, myself
Hello everyone. I've been lurking for a while.

My wip 32x texture pack.

You're welcome. Those textures are really well done though +1

So I was messing around and made a furnace/dropper texture that I really like, I would love to know if anyone can think of something to improve!

If you want me to reply, please quote me!
I would personally say without glow, purely because that way it looks more "compatible" when it is enchanted.
