I have a server where some friends and I have been building a city, and I thought I would show off a bit and share some pictures of the stuff I've done
Glad you like it, Overjay. It's not to everyone's liking, but most people expect to find some kind of white marble variation I think and find the green enameled cast iron pillars weird.
I'm getting some screenshots of my WIP steampunk city. There's quite a lot of areas to choose from!

Lovely stuff! I look forward to seeing things, Alex.
@ Megistus: Just in case you miss my PM to you. I posted you the little funghi and new rail textures ready for layering onto other blocks + a few other things that might prove useful.

Well, when I saw those in that update that was far away in the sands of time, and then in my test world, my thoughts were "Dude, where is my marble? Ohm look, I can put a pillar on it's side! That carving, wooow.. WHOA, RED PANELS WITH FLOWERS! I do not need marble anymore"
Actually, I've removed ctm's for pillar, so when I make quartz pillars - I have that awesome carving from top to bottom

Also, TBestIG yes, show off as many pics as you want! I love seeing what others are building...gives me good feedback on what desperately needs improving (textures I mean...not your buildings!) and gives other users good ideas.
I'll look through everyone's pics this weekend and select the ones I like for the OP Gallery...oh and thanks for the descriptions on the pics as well.
Have a good weekend everyone...happy building!
PS. Just an idea for those who are constantly improving on their builds, I could start to keep a list of links to everyone's personal Imgur albums underneath the Fan Gallery in the OP if you want, then visitors can see more if they're intrigued by something. Kind of like keeping a library of work portfolios for clients.

Updated the Fan Gallery again, as I'm slowly wending my way back through the thread - I'm currently back to page 552 - and there's already a lot more pics to see. Sadly there are also a lot of missing pics too, where accounts or pics have been moved or deleted.

The previous album was all just the stuff I've done, this one includes other people's things. There are a lot of unfinished structures in some of the backgrounds.

Excellent! That city is coming along very nicely. I do rather like those shops by the way. Well done to all and I'm looking forward to seeing how things develop. At some stage will you be paving and adding roads inbetween the buildings?
Shops are something I need to make a lot more of in my city as there's plenty of scope for making really imaginative and often amusing establishments. I just wish it was possible to have different sized signage and a variable sized font, as it would make a huge difference to a steampunk city to be able to have giant adverts and shop signs, but I'd like it to be part of Minecraft and not a separate mod please Mojang!
Now to choose some of those pics for the OP Gallery.
Mmmm...? Something seems to be up with the Forum editor again! Meaning I can't edit it anymore without the whole body of text (which I have saved...as per usual) going completely nuts! bracketed 'p' commands get spattered after nearly every line when I switch to 'BB' code. Pasting my backup text in is now useless again, even though all was well for the past month.
What the flip!
It just seems like this place gets sabotaged on a regular basis.
Well, at least developers made some of their coding magic, so I can view forum on my phone! Before they did that, my phone's Opera browser couldn't "transcode URL" and view the page.
Also, what I dislike in official Minecraft sites - CloudFlare DDOS protection. They constantly check, like, everything! And I can't imagine who would need, let's say, "planetminecraft" DDOS'ed. That sounds funny to me
And yeah, those checkings deny me on my phone, and I can view cool stuff
Man, you guys are making me want to share some screenshots of my city. Though my buildings aren't nearly as grand or architecturally accurate. I just wanted to build something that would look fun to explore.
I took most of these last night, and got around to sorting them today. The numbers are just for me to keep them in order. You can also find the point about halfway through when my descriptions occasionally became less... descriptive, haha. Or more descriptive depending on how you look at it.

Well, I haven't delved into the OP this morning, I'm gonna stay clear for a few days and see if it was just a temporary blip. It was annoying because I was just getting confident that I'd got a good grasp of the editor's foibles and was able to make edits again as and when necessary.
Fortunately, I can still edit the OP Gallery with many thanks due to Imgur, but I also keep worrying has the shear quantity of images and text in the OP reached some kind of forum limit, after which it explodes, but that doesn't make any sense!

What a great city! I was also highly entertained by your descriptions towards the end. They made me chuckle...only because I know what it's like to have to think of pertinent descriptions all the time and sometimes I'm lost for words and just want to stick in a line like "Tower Thingy" until I can think of something better.
Hehe! I'm going to have fun selecting some favorite views there for the Gallery, there's a lot to choose from and that's a good thing 'cos I can choose more of the very best! I'll try and edit those in today when i get a chance.
Many thanks, Lizeon and keep on expanding that city and giving us lots of ideas, I know I've gleaned a lot from looking at all those pics.
Having now put quite a few pics in the Fan Gallery, I've observed a few things that would make things a little easier for me (but, I hasten to add, I'm not complaining):
1. If you can, convert your images to '.jpg' format as it makes for smaller, quicker uploads for me and saves me having to convert from '.png'.
2. Put your title/description and name in the '.jpg' file title, then I can easily copy that as a description when I upload it to the Gallery album.
3. If there's an order to the pics, by all means add a sequence number into the title and I'll try and keep the same order with whatever pics I choose.
Very nice...looks like you're having fun there.
I forgot to add a 'Moving Picture Show House' to my OP list of steampunk buildings, thanks for reminding me, TBestlG.
Would you mind if I included a couple of pics from your collection for the Fan Gallery?
Also, show us some more as and when you finish new things. Thanks for posting.

Absolutely! I want to see bricks and marble and iron girders galore! Any nice pics will be chosen for the gallery with your permission.
I had theese cool auto-smelters in 1.8
My album of my steampunk city is up now! http://imgur.com/a/2rwSM
Note: I will be adding images to this album as the city grows.

Go ahead, I'd love to have some of my work showcased. There is a bit more to the city, did you want to see the rest?
Thanks, guys for all the lovely pics!

There's a lot of screenshots whoops.
Woooooow... That is awesome! Everything is one style, connected... I like your city very much!
You should spawn, or bring some villagers in there, so it'll be inhabited!
