I came back to check on this after a good 8 months, and to my surprise and delight, there's a release! How exciting! I can't wait to try this out. It looks incredible.
I would like to add/second that, if you're planning on fixing roosters laying eggs, then it makes sense to also fix bulls giving birth. You'd be fixing one gender related problem, but not another.
It would just give the mod that much more of a realistic feel...and after all, it is called REALISTIC Livestock... and REALISTICALLY... Bulls, Boars, and Rams don't give birth (respectively, should be the Heifer, Sow, and Ewe plopping out little ones).
Just sayin'.
EDIT: Wondering if you'll be adding a config file? I don't see any way to customize this mod (beef drops from cows, milk 'frequency', etc) and I also don't see any JAS SpawnListEntries generated so I can't customize when and where the animals spawn.
So..... I am playing on a private server, and added this mod. I spawn cows in through creative mode, and they instantly disappear. I can hear them, but I can't hit them (spawning them inside of a fence so I know where they should be). There are no naturally spawning instances of any of the Realistic Livestock. :/
EDIT: Tried a single player world with just this mod installed. Livestock shows up in single player, but not multiplayer. Also, I only see brown sheep, and the only type of cow I find is the one from your untitled screenshot, on the previous page.

Did I understand the fact right, that this is only playable if I play the old 1.7.10 version of minecraft?? So are all of you guys just not updating the game?

yeah, the mod will be for 1.7.10... less lag, more cool mods, etc.
but if you don't like 1.7.10 you can play another mod similar to this (there is one called Animania for versions above 1.10.2)

I have never seen Minecraft model that makes Minecraft animals looking so close to real ones. But this mod has such models, and so much animals...

I tried playing with this mod briefly but wound up removing it since I rather enjoy my rainbow sheep and more importantly- it seemed to have removed all spawn eggs for chicken, cows, sheep and pigs from my game. D= And goodness, were those roosters loud!
I can live with loud roosters, though. XD

What cows did you spawn and were they either heifers or bulls.

Before you moved BovineCraft into this mod, have you planned a version of BovineCraft before RealisticLivestock got confirmed
