Have you ever started a new world, looked up at that beautiful blue sky, and thought "Nah! Too Bright"? Have you ever tried living in a cave and wishing it was a little bit comfier? Have you ever uttered the phrase "But mom! I don't want to go outside!"? If you have, this may be the mod for you!
This mod wants to add to the underground experience of Minecraft so that you never have to go above ground again!
- Getting Started -
First, search nearby surface caves for a pile of bones.
When broken, it will drop a couple of bones and a scrap of meat.
Use these to break a stone block and get stone shards.
- Getting Started Part 2 -
Right-click a stone shard on a piece of stone to carve a crafting grid into it and craft the following.
The Bone-Handle Club functions just like a stone pick, but with less durability, letting you get right to mining without gathering wood.
The Bone-Handle Rake has a chance to drop seeds, potatoes, or carrots when it breaks dirt, use it when you run into an underground dirt patch.
- Underground Basics -
- Moss -
Once you find a potato, make sure to set up a farm and eventually you will harvest a poison potato.
Throw the poison potato into a source of water, it will soon turn into a clump of moss.
Make a few logs and place the moss. It will spread to adjacent logs and you can harvest the extra moss with shears. This moss serves as the base crafting item for most of the things this mod adds.
- Wood -
By now, you'll probably want some wood to make real tools and chests. In that case, you need to craft an Arbor Idol.
The Arbor Idol will grow into a Stonebark Tree. An oddly shaped tree, but the wood it provides is fire proof and it doesn't need much light to grow.
- Meet Your Meat -
Eventually you may grow tired of eating potatoes. Which means you're ready for the Carnivorous Moss.
Throw a scrap of meat (gotten from a pile of bones) into the moss' mouth.
After you feed the moss, right-click it. It will randomly spawn pods on adjacent moss blocks.
These pods will grow and eventually burst, spawning a mossy variant of a passive mob. These mobs are very similar to their above ground counterpart, with the only major difference being that they can't breed.
I am liking this so far. It would be a very cool idea if you were to continue on the idea of things/Creatures such as the Carnivorous Moss. Some weird fringe sciences maybe Could be a fun idea if the CM were to, idk, be able to strip the flesh of Zombies for example. This could either give you Rotten Flesh and Bones, or Rotten Flesh and perhaps a Skeleton (without the bow) Furthermore, it could be an interesting idea to change the animals you get from the CM into some sort of weird monster (makes more sense than random cows for example :p). This could especially be cool if you were to base them a bit of the Alien series (pods breaking, certain monster comes out of it, might infect a cow for example etc).
But if you're not going for such a mod, I suggest making shrooms grow on the bark as well (so when you place moss, there is a possibility of growing shrooms as well)
I do have some plans in the works to make the CM spawn special mobs, not going to spoil them just yet. The turning zombies to skeletons is an interesting idea though, I'll see if we can work that in.
I was really excited for that mod, and I have high hopes for this one. But if I were to say something: I think you'd be better off creating new passive mobs rather than the moss thing.
Perhaps large moles for leather? Just an idea. You could even make their claws into tools.

New pictures uploaded, with a small guide on the early portion of the mod!

Download will be available soon hopefully, we have a couple more things to work out before we release it.

Hey 'ere!
After the release of this mod I'll be able to translate it into Russian and Ukrainian, so keep that in mind.
PM me when you'll need this!

So, it's an old thread, but there's some ideas you may find intriguing here.
