Well, I have been building on this map for a while, (much on and off), and I thought I could post some pictures. The map still have a long way to go, and it might, like many of my earlier projects, end up abandonned. I tried to make the railways from two larger cities, and not just small towns. But it is questionable to how it turns out. But anyway, if someone wants to take a look, be my guest.
From inside the main station. Still quite some work to do in terms of detailing, but it is a start. Sadly, I forgot to take a picture from the outside, but maybee another time. It is based on the railwaystation in my home town, with the correct lengths. The map I found didn't leave much spase to make large railyards, so it is a bit cramped.
A sidetrack to a small industrial area, with warehouses and packing-/shippingfacilities for the larger industries arround the town.
Leaving town, the railway climbs along the coastal mountainside, in a harsh and unfriendly climate. Apart from rustproblems from the saltwater, the train makes the journey without problems. It was a harder task for those poor men who had to build it, though, fighting the clock and strong, autumn storms.
Some places, they had to scale up a wall for the railway to keep it from collapsing out in the ocean. After a few landslides, they finaly secured it with concrete and heavy pillars.
When the railway was first buildt, it was balanced close up to the mountain, but after several mudslides, it was moved farther out, and walled up. The space between vas quicly taken to farmland by local farmers, as there is not much cultivable fields around here.
It is not possible to have the railway run allong the mountain everywhere, and they had to make a few tunnels, even tho they where expensive. Some places, like here, the tunnel brakes out in daylight for a few metres.
There are some more parts of the railway along the unfriendly costal cliffs, along with a few bridges, but when it finaly gets to this curved bridge, the locomotive engeneer breathes of relief, as the worst part is now over. From here it is just to enjoy the scienery, and relax as it passes the next towns.
The railway follows this river up to the terminus city, but ofcoure with a detour, as the waterfall is just a bit to steep for the rails...
This station has been closed down for passanger traffic, as it is so close to the city after the modern roads was made. But there is still a few goodstrain stopping here to pick up the goods from the farmingcommunity that is here (Yes, it is not there yet... But anyway), even tho it is increasingly taken over by trucks who brings them to the larger goodsyard.
Approaching the last station. A smal city, where the railway, combined with large power potential from the nerby waterfalls made this town grow from a small farmingtown, to a large industrial center.
The railwaystation, combined with the goodstation. An increase in railtraffic has made this area to quicly become to small, and is therefore causing alot of problem for the industrial community.
The cities on the map is made from mostley "false" buildings, and facades. This makes the city look bigger then it is, and looks ok, as long as people only stays along the tracks. It is one of the things I don't like about the map, but I am not sure if I will change it later or not. Who knows what time brings.
@Naiten support for transparent textures would be awesome.
I'm sure transparent textures is something not requiring special actions. Javacode models (before Ov) have transparency (take a look at Yer's windows) as well as OBJ models do (Ov's windows). Check your texture. Does it have alpha-channel?

Hey, quick question Naiten, not sure if this has been asked before but as I've seen nothing about it so far I might as well ask you about version 1.8. I'm a great fan of this mod but I'm really starting to move forward into 1.8 as many great mods already support it. I'd love to bring this one with me, it feels essential to my gameplay right now. Thank you.
newbie players aren't supposed to be replied to since they usually don't do their research. you included. but it's been a while since we've seen someone who can't read on our thread, so i'll repeat it here for you. this mod is being updated. it's in reconstruction. the version that the mod was being reconstructed for was originally 1.8, but 1.10 mods are now superior. Naiten is primarily focused on a 1.10.2 version instead of the lack-luster less functional 1.8 version. read the thread next time.
as a direct answer, 1.8 may or may not be thing. but it's definitely not coming before 1.10 if it's coming at all.

You could skip the douchebaggery and just give the answer next time, that might be more helpful. No need to berate and belittle people. Granted, this has been asked before, but that's all you'd have to say, and link the resource.

1.8 isn't a thing since 1.9 was released. Moreover 1.10 is out already. Thus I decided to skip intermediate steps and drag the code I've already written for 1.8 to 1.10.2 and go on with 1.10.2. Minecraft goes on, Forge goes on, and there's no excuse for picking one specific game version, claiming it 'the best' and staying on it forever. No problem with asking questions, since you are polite and decent. I'd appreciate if you do some research on this forum and on my twitter before asking, though.
Please, just edit your post and add your new Infos, Post etc., instead of making new posts every time.
actually, that's not even allowed is it? like having two of your own posts in a row… yea i think i got some of my posts removed a while ago for that. granted i told the thread mod to do it but yea it's not only courtesy to do so it's just spam if you have multiple posts in a row
Naiten , if you update Row to 1.10.2 , you continue to update the 1.7.10 version and make it better or ( sadly for me :'( ) you stop the development of row 1.7.10 ?
I'll do some things at 1.7.10, but most of my work will be focused on 1.10.2. Backporting feature-to-feature is problematic, and backporting whole mod is kinda time-demanding and not interesting for developers. Why would you stay on 1.7.10?
Make GUIs for trains so we can put the coal instead of right click the train.
Firstly, don't tell other people what to do until you're their chief. You're NOT my chief. Secondly, this exactly is a horrible idea from my point of view. Regarding new stock — read the original post.

My God it's been a long time since I last posted on here. Sorry for my absence.
Without further ado, are they're still any servers around with Don's Branch of Rails of War along with ROWAM running? Or are they just none existent until the release of version. 1.10.2?
Looks like they got toby the tank engine on a train car in the second pic lol.
And I had no idea that places did that, changing track width or even dual tracks with different widths, that is really cool, where are those tracks from if I may ask?

And an last thing: Yeay, you are right, there aren't realy much 1.10.2-Mods out. But, there will hopefully be updated to that Version! Hopefully, we will see...
Just unfolding idea already stated in twitter — I'm doing some improvements and bugfixes to Don's version and will later develop 1.7 and 1.10 in parallel. Most of new features will go to 1.10, while 1.7 will get bugfixes and enhancements with little bit of brand-new stuff.
Today is a new chapter for my map, once again. I started on a new project a while ago, the one I have posted a few pictures of a few pages back. Some more work have been done to the map, but most importiantly: It is now up for download for those who wish to use it. It is not a seperate world from the other downloadable map I have out there, oh no. I have merged the two worlds together, and it turned out quite ok actually, with a bridge connecting them together. The map is now longer and better then ever, with the main line growing so it connects to a whole new town, where a new railwayline begins, bringing your adventure forther down the line, with new towns to visit.
I did travel the whole distance with a Yer yesterday, and only the Yer. No waggons, no stopping at stations, no switching or turning the locomotive (as you have to do when comming from one line, and will go on the next one, unless you want to go backwards the whole way), just running from one end to the other. It took me 27 minutes to do so. So when you normally will stop at stations, refill coal, switch locomotives, couple/uncouple carts and so on, it will take you a while to go from one end to the other.
I thought I had a picture of the bridge, but I could not find it. So this have to do instead.
This was made with the original RoW mod, so if you use Don's branch, you might have some problems. Atleast last time I tried out his branch, I had to replace every single rail on the map I used it on. If this is still a problem with the mod, then you have been warned. I don't have a copy of the map using Don's branch yet.

One WILL have problems when using old maps with post-RoWD versions of mod, because while the core of the track system remained, Don made an addition to it and now the different way to tell which piece of track a single 'gag-block' refers to is used. As for now, the only way to update the map is to delete all the tracks and place them again using new items, BUT old gags won't cause the whole piece to be deleted... Though I may do some utility item to simplify the process.
However, you continue to amuse me with map-making abilities of yours. Take all those kudos.

Thank you for that information, and the kind words. I supose the best way to fix it is to load the map without RoW, so all the pieces dissapears, and then load it again with RoWD and replace it. I will do that once I get a chanse to do it, and upload a new verion with Don's branch. As of now, you will have to use the old original RoW.
And the red coaches is just a retexture I did on my computer, as Naiten refered to with his link, sins I wanted red coaches with black roofs to look more like the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) colours. Just a personal preference.
Can't tell for sure, as the original concept seems to be not as perfect as it was previously. We're improving it on the go (no visual results yet).
Some dainty mapmaking indeed, Doffen.

Oh man. Those new sounds are amasing. And the "ticking" sounds it makes when it drives, it sounds just like a real train. I am impressed, once again.
Coupling handcar will make your game crash.
are rails like these planned? (wide and small gauge in one rail) Not now but in further future ^^?

Well, I already don't like them how they are and plan improving that in 1.10.
Possibly. So much code done that I have to look at my commits' descriptions to compose a changelog.
I hope to see a pastebinned crash-report.
Thanks for reposting my videos here.
I wish you do some research before asking. Dual gauge is not in the first order of development, and second order is a variable matter.
Yea more awesome stuff on Twitter: Click me!
I think he meant this, which is actually a German Class 45 (Steam) and not a British Class 45 (Diesel)

Can't wait for the map with dons branch, would you mind if I used it on my server when you have it converted and released?
Not really. I've already made a wand for fixing tracks, and it works fine.
