Once again, the tracks are being reworked. This means I'm writing them from scratch and I have a better system for track building in mind, which will be different from what you saw previously.
Sorry, can't tell about the stock or about the track building either. Consider that being a surprise.
Please, take care to explain why should I do something if you tell me I should, as well as how could RoW and ZnD be perfect for each other even hypothetically.

It looks realy promising, and I am looking forward to building some extensive railways with the new system. Keep up the good work, both of you, and enjoy your free time. I am just finished with my duty year in the army. They are a little bit afraid that Naiten and co. (The russians, if you didn't get it) will invade our little country, so I haven't had much sparetime. But I sure am looking forward to build some new maps with the new version when it gets released. Maybee a map I will upload some time. Its not easy to get a map complete enough to upload it. I always end up beeing displeased with it But I might be able to find some pictures of the last project, if you are interested, even tho I doubt it will be finished.

It's very pleasant to read such response (no irony), thanks for these words. I'd like to note that patreon pledge is not a fee, though. After reading english-russian dictionaries this word feels like meaning something obligatory, but patreon is not like that, and my attitude is not like that. I won't ever delay features until the moment patreon cumulative pledge reaches some value or do anything like that. Telling names is bad, but well. With all my respect to CovertJaguar, he had something like 'Electric locomotive will be added to RC' as a goal with amount about $300-$500 (note that it was monthly pledge, not one-time one). I'm not going to do this ever, I spend my time on RoW because I love railways (not a mistake, the 'love' and 'like' difference is known to me) and want to have a railway mod suiting my vision and my feels about railway. Same goes for DDC, that's why we pay that much attention to details and try to make things of best quality. This may have been one-sided, as the mod turned out to be highly aesthetic, but 'creative-only' and lacking features for survival mode. Thus, another strategy is chosen this time — no aspect will be polished to 'ideal' state while other aspects are loose or not even present (moreover, the 'ideal' state is very hard to achieve, if it only can be achieved). I'm going to distribute my effort more equally, working from one aspect to another. Nonetheless, some aspects are in priority, like tracks and rolling stock themselves.

And please take in account that Misa has very strict Terms of Use on the pack, and you may not get a permission to use it for such purpose. I'd like to create a section in the thread and a page on the site featuring RoW texture packs when this gets to a quality level comparable with the base mod, though.

If you were to have people make real textures for your mod, what kinda styles would you want? I probably don't have the talent to create one but it would be good for the community if when that time comes we know what types of textures we should add. Like maybe some hd ones? Maybe some retro style ones? I dunno but when that time comes I think it would be good for you to suggest the feel for the custom textures you'd want in your mod.

What is HD? Taking photos and scissoring squares out of them? If it's that, than no, I'm not fond of all these 'photorealistic' packs, they don't fit the voxelar structure of the MC world (cubes and shapes are just too crude for that resolution). I know somebody made a resourcepack where some blocks and all items were reworked with higher-polygonal models, but hey. That will also require DDC to remodel all the stock to match that style. Like, having high-poly trains in the voxelar surrounding (what RTM and ZnD do) is absolute tastelessness, but having voxelar trains in high-poly surrounding... Can't even pick the word for that.
My point on texture/resource packs resolution — all this variety of resolutions starting from 8*8 or even 4*4 and up to 1024*1024, it was acceptable when Minecraft only had cubic one-meter-sized blocks and half-blocks, and items' models were generated from texture sprites. But since they started introducing more and more models of more and more complex geometry, which is still stuck to the resolution 16 texels(voxels)/meter, texturepacks should use resolution either equal or close to vanilla 16 tx/m (speaking of me, I enjoyed oCd pack by disco_ back in the day).
Also, describe what you mean by 'retro', please. In my head this word has connotation with something old-fashioned, possibly from XIX or beginning of XX century. But well. The mod is already as retro as it could be, with all the engines steaming around and victorian-like lamp and clock posts stuck around the corners.
And speaking of custom textures especially for my mod... I don't feel like I'd really want them. I may make a page for custom packs so the users can share what they make, but I don't think I'd like any of those packs. Because, we together with DDC have some feels on how the mod should look like, and we just make the mod like we feel. Why would I want anything else?

Oh no no. I did not mean it like that. I am aware that it is not a fee in that sence, and I supose I should have used another word. I donate the amount out of free will, becouse I think you deserve them. And about the retexturing. I did try to make a new texture once, to retexture the passenger coach into a red, norwegian NSB coach (even tho they never had that kind of coach, but anyway...). I ended up screwing everything up somehow, and just reinstalled the mod. What is the procedure in one wants to try something like that again?

yea well making maps will be a lot easier with the new rail system so it would be nice to see what Doffen can do with it
