So I have this mod idea involving Golems and defenses.
So, first things first, general info: (note, these difficulties are estimations, I don't mod so I don't know how hard it'd actually be.)
Difficulty: 6/10 (Moderately difficult)
Coding: 6/10 (Moderately difficult)
Modelling/Texturing: 4/10 (If you can make Golem models it's not very hard.)
Compatibility: SMP/LAN, Golems can target all mobs, including Lycanite's Mobs, Invasion mod etc mobs.
Version: 1.7.10, for forge 1291 or higher. (Personally my Modpack uses that version. I am planning to replace a certain mod with this.)
Team:
Blastingcraft (Coder/Modder)
SEKWAH41 (Coder/Modder) Mitchell3514Block (Modeler/Texturer)
So, how do I get these golems, you ask! Good question.
First, you craft a Golem Stone, like this:
= Empty
You use this stone to make golem spawners, like so:
= Golem Stone
= Type of Golem. (You use swords for sword golems, bows for Bow Golems, etc.)
= Modifier (Optional, we go over these later.)
This will make a tier 1 Golem Spawner. (Later tiers use higher tier materials)
Golem Spawners spawn a Golem, when the Golem dies it will re-spawn on the block after 30 seconds. (for tier 1.)
Concept of how Golem Spawners will look:
In the four corners will be the material of the modifier (if there is one.) and the tier number above that. (Overlapping)
Background: the material of the Golem.
Middle: Proficiency of the Golem. (Iron sword for Sword Golem, Iron axe for Axe Golem, Iron pickaxe for Mining Golem, bow for Bow Golem.)
I think this will be informative while looking nice to boot!
Base Stats of Golems: (BSoG?)
Attack: 2 (1 heart)
Defense: 2 (1 heart) Golems will always take at least one damage from attacks.
Health: 20 (10 hearts)
Respawn Time: 30 seconds.
Harvest Time: Stone harvest power.
Note: Bow Golems have 3/4 stats, and Axe/Pickaxe Golems have half health and attack.
Tiers:
Tier 1: Cobblestone, base stats.
Tier 2: Iron, x2.0 base stats.
Tier 3: Gold, x3.0 base stats.
Tier 4: Diamond, x4.0 base stats.
Tier 5: Obsidian, x5.0 base stats.
Crafting higher tiers? Just replace the stone in the Golem Spawner and Stone recipe with the tier's ore, simple!
A Golem targets things you order them to, how you order them is with...Oh right: (Sword/Bow Golems attack automatically, and DO NOT attack players by default, config options available.)
= Golem Stone, the Ordering Stick tier depends on the tier of Golem stone.
= Stick
This will order Golems. (Future tiers use higher tier ores.)
Ordering a sword/bow golem on a mob will force-attack that mob.
Ordering an Axe Golem to a tree will make it chop all nearby wood in that area (16 blocks)
Ordering a Pickaxe Golem at stone will make it dig a strait tunnel (strip mining) and ordering it to ore will make it mine
that ore.
Shift-right-click on a Golem Spawner orders the Golem that spawns to "Guard" (do a task, but return to spawner afterwards.), or "Patrol" (go around in a 8x8 area around the spawner, doing tasks it encounters) (When I refer to "tasks" I mean Mining Golems digging, Axe Golems chopping, Bow/Sword Golems attacking.)
If you are really desperate, you can order Axe/Pickaxe Golems to attack, but as stated earlier they are weaker...
And that's about i- Oh wait, modifiers!
Modifiers, as seen above, add things to your Golem. (These include abilities, special effects etc.) You can only apply one, and it's permanent, choose wisely!
= Makes the Golem, instead of dying, explode on death!
Ender Pearl = Gives the Golem teleportation, allowing Golems to teleport to they're task quickly. (Bow Golems teleport away a bit when mobs get too close.)
= Gives the Golem storage, the storage of a chest, when right-clicked you can open the said chest. (When the golem dies it will drop the loot.)
= Makes the Golem set things it attacks on fire!
Emerald = Enforce the Golem to have x1.5 health! (This means an obsidian Golem could get 150 health!)
Check out my adventure modpack! 25+ carefully selected mods (Not counting Core Mods) and great for if you don't have that beefy of a computer. Plus it has over 2K downloads and counting so y'know it's good. Oh, and fully multiplayer compatible!
There's also the resource intensive version (if you can handle it) for a bigger experience!
Hi. Im new at modelling, but i can help you. I can make for you textured golem. Say me just what textures if you can! ")
Good! Now this mod has a modeller, but needs a scripter/modder. (I know a bit of JS, but not Minecraft modding.)

Okay I got an idea as of how these spawners will look.

Golems? Look at Eldritch Empires Golems, these will look like those sort of, just make them the material they are made of and holding the tool they use.
Thank you for making models etc. for this mod in advance.
Modifiers don't have to be in the first version, I just want them to be there by like v.1.5 at least.

are you planning on them having any other ai behiours, or just sorta wander and attack on command?
also are the patterns above meant to be for a crafting table?? do you not like the multiblock event that creates iron golems in vanilla?
The recipe is for a Golem Spawner, these spawners will spawn the Golem you crafted it as, when the Golem dies it will respawn after a set time, this is stated in the OP.
Perhaps I should have commands for shift-clicking the spawner with a Golem Command Wand...
Edit: As for the other question, I personally prefer for the Golems to be replaced automatically then having to build them again, hence why I use spawners instead. And yes, they are for a crafting table.

Oh, and...
Updated the OP with this:
Shift-right-click on a Golem Spawner orders the Golem that spawns to "Guard" (attack nearby enemies but return to spawner asterwards.), or "Patrol" (go around in a 8x8 area around the spawner.).
This is for the Ordering Stick.
Edit: Corrected that asterwards...Dang, so exited that I'm making typos! So happy this is going to become a reality!

jjk1290 is the texturer, I just have the idea for the mod, sorry that I can't help otherwise.
I'd recommend using Dropbox to share files, or Copy, well anything that lets you send files to other people really.
I don't have skype, there are PMs for a reason here. (Private Messages.) So you could use that for sending files to the other members. (For instance jkk finishes a texture/model, and then sends it to you for implementation in the mod.)

Yeahy...But I have to add every single mob to this dumb book thing, because the author for Utility Mobs didn't even bother making it compatible, instead, he just went "Lets make this book thing that you can't copy the config for that is a pain to work with, and make everyone have to add all 50+ mobs they have. lol"
So, that's how I got this idea, it's really annoying adding mobs to a target book, plus, this mod is different enough to set it apart, for instance you can't tell golems to chop trees/mine in the other mod, or use Modifiers.
In my opinion, this will pretty much be Utility Mobs 2.0, better in nearly every way.

Sure, but we still need a modeler/texturer... :/
Without any models you can't really make animations or...Well, anything involving blocks or entities really.
And I thought the coder would be the harder one to find...Apparently I was wrong. :l

Hey I can help u out whith the model/texture. U just have to tell me what u want: Size, color, shape etc..
Yes! Now we have a coder, a modeler/texturer...That's everybody, right?
There is a section about how the Golem Spawners will look (at least, the top), they're a slab in size, not sure what the sides would look like though, I guess a triangular shape of the material of the Golem at the top of the side (like an arrow pointing down), and a dull grey color the rest (including the bottom). So you can get started on those.
I think the modifier part and tier number should be coded to show up as it'd be a pain to make versions of every single variation of every modifier and every material as separate blocks.
then the texturer would only need to make these parts of the art in each block:
the Material of the golem.
Proficiency on top.
Number of tier, white outlined, filled with blue for tier 1-3, red for tier 4, and yellow for tier 5 (Like gold.)
And as for the coders:
Modifier, we need the modifier material to show up at the four corners on top of the block, we're using default items right now so you can use those.
Number of the tier, as stated above is white-outlined and blue inside, the texturer will make these, which then you make them appear on top of the modifier.
The middle could have the Golem Stone, although I'm still not quite sure how that'd look. For now I'm thinking a grey Diamond.
We'll have to communicate somehow, once we have at least a mod that boots up, I'll make a thread for this mod.
I guess I'm the "host" if you will, of the mod, managing the thread.
