Speaking of mesas, holy cow I and a friend have spent about 8 hours flying around in creative mode trying to find any kind of large cliff biome. Only one we found was in a random test world which we couldn't keep- it was made prior to a bunch of config changes.
Is there any way to improve the odds of finding crags or mesas or what have you?
Btw, thanks Zeno for your answer earlier.

Hey guys, absolutely loving this mod and the beautiful terrain it generates, but we're just having one small problem... we have Greg's SGCraft, and one of the things we love about it is finding Stargates inside desert temples. Now, we've found several desert temples in our world, but none of them have stargates, and in worlds without RTG enabled, Stargates spawn in every temple, so I'm assuming RTG is affecting this somehow. On the other hand, other structure augmenting mods (i.e., any mod that adds anything to vanilla village generation, like Buildcraft) works just fine, and we find the new structures added alongside the village. Is there anyway to fix this?

Depends on what's doing your biome layout. With vanilla, you can't change the chances but you could use AMIDST to find the nearest mesa (they can be far and yes, hours of searching is pretty plausible) or a known Mesa seed. With Climate Control, you can up the incidence of the Hot climate and (possibly) the incidence of Mesa as well. With Biome Tweaker there's a way but I don't know it because I don't use it.

Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.
Anybody help? Ocean Monuments don't seem to generate in my world... but guardians still spawn (I thought the temple could be underground, so I digged down; didn't find anything. Used MC Edit and confimed that there was nothing there).
I was searching in Deep Ocean biomes for a while (30~ mins.), but only found this spawnpoint. Do I have to create another world? Or should I keep searching for other Ocean Monuments?
ALSO I don't know if seeds work in RTG, but if anyone had one I could try (one with an Ocean Monument) that'd be nice.
do you plan to overhaul the extreme mountains and alps? they really need more details, more eroding and pointy tops for larger ones. they are just too smooth.
We have three "mountain" routines: the big hills in Extreme Hills, BoP Alps and many others; a rugged mountain in BoPMountain, HL Snow Mountains, Extreme Hills+ and a few others , and a more pointy routine in BoP Jade Hills, Ice Mountains, and many others. Sub-biomes like Extreme Hills + and Ice Mountains often don't have enough space to "do their thing" so mountains in vanilla are overwhelmingly the smoother Extreme Hills type since it's the only full biome mountains in vanilla. We're planning to put the terrains on "soft lockdown" tonight and since this is the first complaint we've gotten about the Extreme Hills, we're unlikely to change them for 1.0. Down the road we're planning to put in ways for players to customize biome terrains but not for the 1.0 release.

In an effort to increase the realism of RTG worlds even more and to resolve a number of outstanding issues, we will be making fundamental changes to the terrain, biome, river, and lake generation systems over the next few releases.
Whilst the overall look & feel of RTG worlds will remain the same, existing RTG worlds will not be compatible with newer versions of RTG. (Technically, you will still be able to load existing worlds with the upcoming versions, but they will be guaranteed to have very weird, abrupt chunk borders and may result in crashes when travelling to new chunks, especially if you are using RTG in conjunction with other world gen mods.)
Also, Team RTG will soon be releasing two new mods which will replace existing RTG functionality:
The first mod, Lonely Biome, will allow you to generate single-biome worlds and was created so that we could remove the "Generate only this biome ID" config option, which falls slightly outside of RTG's scope.
The second mod, Realistic Structure Generation, will allow you to customize village materials on a per-biome basis and will replace the village config system in the 1.8.9 version of RTG and also allow you to customise village materials in the 1.7.10 version of RTG.
** Please note that these new mods aren't technically RTG 'addons' as they will work just fine in non-RTG worlds as well. **
Thanks,
Team RTG
.
So just how does one go about downloading and installing either of these mods? I use MultiMC, by the way...
Thanks so much guys, everything is looking amazing. I'm really happy to be able to use Highlands without the log spam, and the biomes are just perfect for what I have in mind. The Flying Mountains is easily my favorite biome.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

I think you may have gone slightly overboard with ocean temple generation
I made my own shader pack, by the way.

I know the terrain is on soft lockdown now, but are you ever planning on adding things like large overhangs?
Began playing during Alpha 1.2.6.

Overhangs are, as I understand it, impossible with the terrain generation system that they use.
That's the biggest drawback that I know of.

"Good balance" is a matter of taste. Use ForgeAmidst to look at the worlds.

I have BOP and Biome Tweaker but BOP biomes arent showing
They already exist: Savanna Plateau, Highlands Flying Mountains, EB Plateaus, BoP Canyon, and some others.

Thank you! (was looking for this and could not find it. Silly me, I asked over on the CC thread.)

Can I use this mod on minecraft 1.8.0? / How?
~thanks
Would like to point out that your change logs for the 1.9 branch is not on the github as both CurseForge and this Forum thread say they should be.
There isn't a version of RTG for Forge 1.8, only 1.8.9.
What do you mean? Changelogs are with the releases: https://github.com/Team-RTG/1.9-Realistic-Terrain-Generation/releases

The current version of this mod are 1.7.10, 1.8.9, and 1.9
So no.
any news on a 1.9.4 version? the improvement to server side is worth it alone just curious though would love to see it there
I don't think they will make a new 1.9 version until 1.9.9/1.9.10
