That simply means that you misspelled your username (Everything matters, including caps, ex. DaVid =/= David). Be sure to type in your username exactly as it is in game.
You know, it wouldn't be hard to fix the need to match capitalization (As it just adds hassle for really complicated usernames). All you would have to do is in the code when you compare the two strings (username and what was entered), just convert both strings to lowercase before comparing. Just a thought.

You're completely right, It took about 2 seconds to change. I just never thought it was that big of a deal.
Looks AMAZING, but can you make a version with a normal texture pack to allow those of us with craptastic computers to download it/play it please? I looked in the folder and the HDness of the textures accounts for 24 mbs, so a non-HD textured version would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Bastian,
There's a low resolution texture pack available under FAQ. (however not yet updated to 1.1.4, working on that right now) I'm considering bringing the entire mod down to a lower resolution since most people seem to prefer it.
Has there been a fix for the game crashing when you open the book for the first time then when you start up Minecraft for a second time and open the book, all you see is on Unknown Research which when you click on that, it crashes your game from then on when ever you click on it? Some worlds I make, it works fine, other worlds, I can't play this mod on because it just decides to crash me. This looks like a really cool mod which I want to play, but it's kind of difficult.

Hey Little_Whispers, sorry for the late response.
I can't seem to replicate this issue. I'm not sure what's up. Which version of AOTD are you using, and are there any errors in the FML log file?
If the bug about the book crashing you is still an occurring problem, it seems from me trying to copy it again due to the world getting corrupted and I can't use it anymore is that it's only on servers when a second or more person joins, they have a random chance of this to happen to them? Not too sure still.
I'm really sorry for the lack of activity recently. Over this summer I was busy with an internship and college has only intensified for me this year. Because of this I have not been working on the mod. Tagii has also taken a break from the mod and might not be back (sadly =[ ) Without Tagii I'll have to do the art myself adding to the workload. I'm certainly not going to quit on this mod but will probably take a break for now.

Do what you've got to do. We'll still be here when you get back.
When I first saw your post I thought it was because of my defeat of Enaria. For those who'd like a visual aid of what her fight is like I have that here: I may have been a bit over-prepared, but it still came down to Afraid of the Dark equipment being the main reason I won. I just really love that armor! I'll keep on looking for updates over time. Right now Forge 1.10.2 is considered rather stable and is nearly indistinguishable in code from Forge 1.9.4 (so much that most of the mods can play between them as is). As for the models and art you may want to check out some some Youtube tutorials. I know someone who might be able to help, but that's up in the air right now.

I know what you mean. I really love that Void Chest! For now though we'll probably just have to wait and see. David is on his own now since Tagii left and will probably be busy until the summer.
Just found a repeated crash, and included the console log of the crash. It appears that every time I try to enter the nightmare dimension in a world, I end up crashing, and I have no idea why.
I followed the steps in the book, drank the potion, slept and was then transported to the dimension. After a few seconds of movement, followed by a few seconds of lag, the world crashes, and proceeds to crash every time I load up the world again. The world is modded with other mods, but the crash seems to be only related to this mod as far as I can tell.
Also, when I first tried to install this mod, It disagreed with the nomadic tents mod, though I am not sure why.
It's a little hard to read the crash log due to the forums changing the format to fit, but I think you should try uninstalling WAILA. It looks like it's trying to get which half of the plant a fern is from an air block (if that makes no sense, then you understand why that would crash). I might be wrong though.
Hello! I enjoyed this mod a lot when I was trying random minecraft mods. My wife and I are planning to include this mod in our upcoming 1.8.9 modpack called Robot Rainbow. Thanks for the great mod!
Updating the mod has taken a massive amount of time, and school + Tagii leaving has made it much more difficult to keep the mod updated.
I've been gone a while, so let me summarize what I've been up to!
Firstly, Tagii has left the project (for now... at least) which makes a lot more work for me. This as well as college has taken up most of my time, but I've still worked on the mod from time to time. I've updated it to 1.11.2, which has taken a ridiculous amount of time, here's why:
1) When updating there's the usual 6,000+ errors or whatever to deal with but that only takes about a weekend to fix.
2) Minecraft 1.10 has made it mandatory to use underscores/lower case letters for item names in the code. As an example, "eldritchObsidian" must now be referred to as "eldritch_obsidian". This meant I had to rename hundreds of JSON files from "camelCase" syntax to underscore/lowercase syntax. This took an incredibly long time as well as re-naming all the items in the code.
3) Loot tables were completely overhauled in 1.9, so chests are now generated from a pre-defined JSON file instead of java code. This meant that any chest generation found in my mod (such as the nightmare island chests, etc) needed to be completely re-written into JSON format. This took some time to learn as well.
4) All the schematics were broken. Back in 1.8 I was using MCEdit to create schematic files. Unfortunately, MCEdit is very outdated (and MCEdit 2 has no features yet...) so all the schematics block IDs were incorrect leading to gnomish city rooms made out of shulker boxes and all mob spawners crashing the game. This has taken the most time, since I've had to load each schematic into the game, fix it, save it using WorldEdit (actually updated to forge 1.11 now!), and then re-do my algorithm to read WorldEdit schematics instead of MCEdit schematics. This lead to an entire world of issues, since the new system meant that block IDs changed from world to world, so each world incorrectly interpreted the WorldEdit schematics. I've managed to come up with a system to fix this, but it's taken some time.
5) On a similar note as 4, the world generation trick I was using to decrease world generation time from 60 to 5 seconds was broken, so I reverted it back to the old system. I'm still trying to find a way to get the fast world generation performance back again.
The mod in its current standing compiles and is usable, and I have yet to test it at all. I can release a beta, but I'm not sure if I really can since it's so unstable. Let me know what you think! I've been trying to do a full play-through to make sure all the features work to some extent at least.
Sounds like you're considering releasing an alpha. Which is fine, but be prepared for your github to get very full.

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
I guess the inventory overhaul didn't affect you as much since none of your mod uses that directly. A few other modders I know have said that's hit them the most. At some point I'll get to playing modded 1.11.2, but for now the balance of mods available for it is a bit spotty at best. At least 1.8.9 is mostly fine for now. I've also been trying to use modded 1.10.2, but it seems Forge has a chronic memory leak problem with it for some reason and they're still trying to fix that. Great to see you're nearly back with this David!

We have been making videos of us playing it, and have just recently edited the ones where we begin to explore Afraid of the Dark if you would like to see those and see our initial experiences. Here is a link to the point in the playlist when we begin in earnest. More videos will be forthcoming.
I had the problem where signing the blood-stained journal crashes and all other journals became unusable to me, but my wife and our friend Jim did not experience the problem. We also ran into the problem where no Werewolves spawn at night in Erie Forests, so we had to go to a Gnomish City to meet one. Also my wife was not able to experience the Nightmare dimension without disabling high-res textures, but we have added a great number of those ourselves in addition to those included in the mod, so that may have been the problem. If she logs in using my machine, she is able to enter the nighmare dimension with high-res textures on no problem (I obviously cannot as my journal is bugged).
We were disappointed by the anemic reaction to our modpack, so we're looking at sponsoring a twitch streamer to play it in the hopes of generating some more interest, and we believe Afraid of the Dark to be the best mod in the pack, so we're suggesting she feature it in the stream. Just to give you a heads-up, if this works out there may be some unexpected new interest in this mod soonish
Ohh, thanks.

Any help would be appreciated
It's a little hard to read the crash log due to the forums changing the format to fit, but I think you should try uninstalling WAILA. It looks like it's trying to get which half of the plant a fern is from an air block (if that makes no sense, then you understand why that would crash). I might be wrong though.
Hello! I enjoyed this mod a lot when I was trying random minecraft mods. My wife and I are planning to include this mod in our upcoming 1.8.9 modpack called Robot Rainbow. Thanks for the great mod!
Hi everyone,
TL;DR;

If regular is Vanilla then what flavor is your Minecraft?
Our modpack "Robot Rainbow" with Afraid of the Dark in has been up for a while now here:
https://www.technicpack.net/modpack/robot-rainbow.1011770
