This mod requires Minecraft Forge. To install this mod simply place it in your mods folder.
Features:
The tank is a new block which allows players to store fluids. This take behaves like any traditional tank in minecraft, allowing for basic interaction with buckets. Additionally these tanks can be filled and drained using other mods, such as Tinkers Construct and BuildCraft. When broken by a player, the tank will keep any contents stored inside, allowing for easy transportation of larger fluid quantities. If broken while sneaking, the tank will still drop however its contents will be lost, allowing for easy fluid disposal. Tanks can be filled or drained from any face. When exploded, tanks have a 100% chance to drop as an item, and keep their contents. Tanks can also be pick-blocked to get an exact copy. Tanks have a maximum stack size of 1. Only tanks of the first tier can be crafted, other tiers are made available through the use of upgrade items.
Along with the tank block, an upgrade item has been added. The upgrade items will allow players to increase the capacity of the tank by right clicking the item on the tank. Upgrade items are consumed after being used. For an upgrade item to be usable, the upgrade must be only one tier above that of the tank, or the same tier. Although using a tank upgrade on a tank of the same tier generally won't provide any capacity increase, it will allow you to change the texture of the tank to that of the upgrade used. Upgrade items have a maximum stack size of one.
The crafting recipe for the tank and the upgrade item are near identical, although the tank block requires a bucket. Crafting recipes are comprised of glass panes and a block or item associated with that tier. Some examples for Acacia and Birch tanks, along with upgrade item examples for the cobble and sandstone tanks can be seen bellow.
Questions and Answers:
Q: Is this mod safe for use on servers?
A: Yes, this mod is universal and should work on both client, server and lan. To use this mod on a server, both the server and all connecting players must have Minecraft Forge and Gyth installed.
Q: For some reason a few of my tanks are invisible or appear as fire.
A: As this mod is completely modular, if you remove a mod which added a tank upgrade which was being used in your world, the tank will persist as if nothing had changed. The reason a fire icon is used to represent the tank is because the texture data added by that mod for the upgrade is no longer reliable. To fix the issue simply upgrade the tank or change its data by using a texture of the same tier.
Q: Can I use this in my modpack?
A: Please check out the Legal and Modpacks section. If your pack complies with the conditions then you may use this mod in your pack.

I like it. It reminds me a bit of the Xycraft tanks. Great work!

isn't there a portable tank in some other mods already?
I mean, what's so special about this mod?
There are a few other tanks in other mods, like the ones in Tinkers Construct and I believe there are also ender tanks, however they all have a very small capacity. This mod also makes the entire thing modular, so you can upgrade your tank to be the perfect size, as well as have a nice texture to fit in with the rest of your house. Another reason you would use this mod, is if you want a tank but you don't want all the other stuff which comes with the tank mod. For example downloading tinkers construct but not wanting slime islands, health canisters, the tools and so on, it's easier to add this rather then disable everything you don't want.
if i put lava in a wooden tank, for example acacia, will it burn? and,
does lava in a tank emit light?
As of right now, the answer to both is no, although I was thinking of both while coding the mod. I certainly plan to make tanks emit light when their liquid emits light, although I am not sure if I plan to make tanks burn if they're made of wood. Although it would make sense for them to do that, it would make things complicated from the player stand point, perhaps I will add it as a config option.
what happened to my earlier reply? anyways it was a compliment, all the other tank mods i've seen don't have textures like yours. hopefully you can get them to emit light if they have lava in them as i'd like to use the acacia one in my mountain house and the smooth stone one in my cave house for a bit of natural lighting. a config option would be the best idea, some people might use it, others (like myself) wont. either way good job with this mod and your right, not everyone wants to add a huge mod just for one item
what is the max cap of the best tank in this mod? compare to other "tank" mods
The max size right now is 1024 buckets with the mod, although it's possible to expand to 2147483.6 buckets if the right upgrades are available. This mod comes with an easy to use api which allows for tank upgrades to be added. As for other tank mods, I have only ever used four, the first being the tinkers construct tanks which hold four buckets, the buildcraft tank holds 16 buckets, but can connected together into a 256 block high multi block structure providing 4096 buckets of storage. There is also a portable tank in thermal expansions which provides up to 8 buckets of storage. The best alternative right now is the drums from extra utilities which can hold up to 256 buckets.

I am not sure what happened to your earlier reply, I can see two of them on the thread still. As far as I know this page has yet to be moderated. As for your idea for your house, I think that's a perfect idea. I don't play much minecraft (funnily enough I play modded minecraft even less) but I have had some fun ideas for a volcano based house. I will have to look into adding support for BOP and that mod which adds the volcanoes, red power?
is it balanced? I mean, now I'm playing in a hardcore modpack and I want fluids storage but I think that the drums from extra utilities are too much op for only some iron. what do you think?
btw i'ts a pretty nice mod and the textures looks good (sorry if my english is bad)

It is balanced in the sense that it requires a fair bit of resources. To obtain a tank which can store as much as a drum, you would need the following resources.
Glass Pane x 29
Iron Bucket x 1
Wooden Plans x 4
cobblestone x 4
Iron Ingot x 4
Redstone Block x 4
Gold Ingot x 4
diamonds x 4
I am sure to some it may seem too expensive, but given my own experience with these mods, if you need to store large amounts of fluid, chances are diamonds, iron and redstone are not hard to come by.
i was just thinking, if i put a 2x2x1 tank structure down, will they form as one tank with one big window or will they be four individual tanks?
A few people had asked me this when I was coding the base for the mod. Right now the tanks will not connect with others beside them. There are a bunch of reasons on why I didn't make them that way, although the biggest is that I feel it defeats the purpose of having tank upgrades. There are plans in the future to add a non-capacity upgrade which can be applied to any of the faces of the tank, this upgrade would make that side of the tank try to pour its contents out if a valid fluid tank is connected, allowing for fluid to automatically go into pipes, engines, and other devices. In theory you could use this and connect one or more tanks together to create super large pipes, and very bulky mega tanks. There won't be any connective textures though.
ah ok, thats all good. one more question will the window texture be on all six sides of the block or just two of them? and if its only on two will the block be rotatable? once they emit light i'd like to be able to use them in my cave house but i can't decide whether to use them in the roof or walls or both

I will have to check what forge provides for rotating textures. I am actually not very good with rendering, so I don't know if I will be able to make the block rotatable in terms of texture, I am sure there is a simple algorithm for it though. I didn't think about using the blocks as lights in a roof, but that would work.
Working on a new update for this mod. This update is essentially the configuration update. Users will be able to configure the values for all tanks, such as the capacity and the tier. It will also be possible to configure things, such as what tanks are fire proof. I will also be including the option for tanks to glow when filled with a fuel which has light.
