I've just tested the current version of the mod (for 1.9.4) with 1.10, and to my surprise and amazement, it works! So the 1.9.4 version also works in 1.10! =D
I really love this mod, and I really want to include it in the modpack I'm making for 1.7.10 -
but I can't hear the rain anymore. Silent rain really destroys the immersion for me.
I really hope you can advise me on how to fix this, or if it isn't currently possible
that you would consider adding a way to have weather unaffected if at all humanly possible.
That's strange. I've never heard of it making the rain silent. It shouldn't be modifying any sounds except to make them reverb, etc., and it certainly shouldn't be removing them... What other mods do you have?
First off, thanks so much for making this and keeping it up to date. I really can't play without it now. =B
That said, I've run into a minor issue with 1.10. It works, but it seems to distort when there's a lot going on. For example, there's flowing water in a cave and then the music kicks in. So lots of reverb. I didn't even bother going to the nether. Granted, I have a much slower system than most people, though not so much that I'm running on bare minimum. Seems like once I start moving around is when it crackles, so maybe it's tied to my system dropping frames? I dunno. In any case, I don't have this problem running it in 1.9.4. It's no huge deal for me personally, since I don't mind sitting on 1.9.4 for awhile (I've only just now upgraded from 1.8, so it's all gravy). Anyway, just thought I'd give you a heads up!
and on the client I'm testing with, the above, and:

but I hope you may have a known issue with compatability or something.
I've checked everything I can think of including mods in the right folders, id conflicts, configs, volume settings.
And I know you don't alter the sounds, and know about filters at least a little- so I'm confused-
I just figured you may know better than I, so I thought it best to ask your advice.
Thanks for at least taking a glance; I'm really hoping to knock my son's socks off with this modpack.

Hmm, the only mod I think could be messing with it would be dynamic surroundings, but you noted that you added that in after posting...
Here is something that might give some clues about the sound. Go into the game and run this command: /playsound ambient.weather.rain @p ~ ~ ~
If that plays, then we know the sound itself isn't the issue.
Oh, and for your mod setup, I would suggest the better rain mod. It's a nice mod that adds a cleaner rain sound and differing rain strengths. I was using it in my own modpack for a while, and really enjoyed it. =)
Go into the game and run this command: /playsound ambient.weather.rain
This is strange, lol
So I went ingame, executed the command - it worked. I did it over and over, but realized I had pulled soundfilters out, lol.
then I shut the client down, readded soundfilters, loaded back up, and /playsound worked, then /playsound didn't work.
I ran /toggledownfall I hear rain, /playsound and I hear the sample, /playsound I don't ... hmmm
/toggle , /play sound.
/toggle, /play nosound.
something arbitrary is happening.
I will test further such as clean install, solo run, and build back up and if the symptom persists
I'll attempt to isolate a definite repeatable pattern.
I wanted to ask you about whether java version might be a concern-
I use filehippo updater, which shows me i have J8 update 91, J8 update 92- 64 bit, and JDK8 update 66 on my PC.
I'm not as sharp on Java installs,
Do think I should uninstall all but one of them, or downgrade my Java for some reason?
And thank you for your mod recommendation. That's very thoughful of you.

I am. Currently I'm running everything from a dedicated server instance on my local machine, and connecting with my
client using the internal IP from the multiplayer screen. Once I get all the mods getting along, I'll bundle everything as
a package and upload it to my dropbox to make it accessable through technic. Then once all of my permissions are in order I can go public.
I'm so exited because it seems like this time all the mod authors seem to be open to modpack use as long as
it is handled appropriately- and unlike my first two packs I may very well get to share my favored gameplay with everyone, YAY!
So I got sound working (and a few other things) so it is less likely I'll be rebuilding everything from the ground up as I intended. The rain is still a bit faint, but is definitely present now.
The funny part is that I believe chisel was the culprit even though it does nothing with the sound.
When I crafted a repair talisman from projectE, my client crashed to desktop, and when I'd rejoin I'd get booted immediately. The crashlogs indicated chisel was trying to process the talisman with an item module,
so when I went to their github, found a more current build and upon replacing chisel,
suddenly other things were working correctly as well. (such as the florb menu from Thermal Expansion showing up in NEI)
My hunch is that whatever issue the old version was having was preventing several mods from initialising properly.
Additionally, i disabled occlusion in the soundfilter config which made rain audible again.

I have yet to test Jaff again, but I hope to respond over there once I determine if it too works now or not.

Also, it seems most 1.9.4 mods with with 1.10, so I'm not too worried about it.
I do not know if 1.7.10 is still supported, but with the latest build for it (0.8), I occasionally get this error, paired with all sounds stopping working until I relaunch the game:

I'd like to hear :3

Hey people!
I've finally had time to update this to 1.9.4. There are no changes; it's exactly the same version updated!
Nice to see you're alive and well!
Hi everyone!
I've just tested the current version of the mod (for 1.9.4) with 1.10, and to my surprise and amazement, it works! So the 1.9.4 version also works in 1.10! =D
Cpw said this on twitter earlier today.
